Miss Peregrine
I'm attending a birthday party this afternoon and need a gift idea. This is an 80-year old woman from my church.
Catwoman
Does she have any hobbies? Does she like to eat out a lot? Try to remember that even though the calendar says she’s 80, if she’s still in good shape, she probably doesn’t feel like a little old lady, so she may still very well like many of the same things she liked when she was decades younger.
regentrude
consumables or gift card to restaurant. All older people I know have plenty of stuff in their homes. Edited February 10, 2018 by regentrude
Stacia
Some assorted cards (birthday, note, etc...) & stamps. (My grandmother always liked this kind of thing because she had supplies on hand to then send cards to her grandkids, etc....)
Kassia
Does she drive? If so, how about a gift card to a local restaurant, bakery, coffee shop, theater, etc.?
Pawz4me
My MIL is 82 and very active. Sheâ€d love a gift card to a local restaurant, boutique, theater, etc. she also likes fashion, so something like a scarf would work.
Seasider
Jigsaw puzzles. Complexity of image and size of individual pieces can vary with the user's ability. If the person is tech-savvy, an audible subscription.

Miss Peregrine
A pretty scarf or a soft small throw for the sofa Nothing yet. Party is at 2 and I am a master procrastinator. :)
EmilyGF
Box of chocolates (because she can spread it out over many weeks as desired or pass it on). ETA: this is what elderly relatives I knew would have loved. But they were all generally slim. Laura Corin
A lot of old people have really dry skin - I'd choose some lovely lotion.
Miss Peregrine
I found a yummy candle and a foot care kit in a really cute package. It comes with a foot lotion and a really cozy pair of socks.
