Pink and Green Mom
Good morning! I had an "oh no, it's already Sunday night" moment last night so I feel everyone's pain this Monday. DS16 is sporting a C in Honors History (the class he ended up with a 98 in the first semester....) so he is back to having no car which means he needs to be driven to school and baseball. UGH. At least DH is around to do it. -coffee -DS16 off to school -school with DS13 (have to wing it because I never sat and planned everything out) -laundry DONE: 5 -tackle some more clutter piles in the house (several to choose from) -read/relax/jigsaw puzzle -get back to working out -dinner: grilled chicken and vegetables Edited January 22, 2018 by Pink and Green Mom
SKL
1 kid sick in bed, 1 kid off to school. Lots of work to do. I did not sleep well as I was worrying about the work. Might as well have stayed up and done it all night. I did send out some reports this morning. Wanting a nap! Kids' homework. Tonight, gymnastics, but looks like only 1 kid will go. I will probably stay home as I have a volunteer to drive tonight.
Selkie
Good morning! Another vote for a weekend do-over! This weekend was all chores and no relaxation. •school •office work (pay credit card bills, paperwork, blah) •mop tile floors •laundry (jeans and towels) •text hay guy •ds17 golf lesson •dinner: tacos •watch hockey tonight (my Blackhawks are going to get crushed by Tampa Bay  ) Edited January 22, 2018 by Selkie
MysteryJen
This weekend was a total waste. I spent nearly 20! hours (recounted because I thought that couldn't be right) in driving and waiting for swim meets. I have read 500 pages of fiction since Saturday (1.5 novels). And watched dd2 swim 5 individual races and two relays. That's it. To do: daily chores take dd2 (done) try to get Hamilton tickets (may be a disaster) school with boys (in between being on the computer) pick up dd2 (if I am not trapped by the computer) ds3 to guitar home to chores undone ds3 to tennis pick up dd2/hs swim pictures/club practice/ds2 to aikido Have a great day!
Alessandra
I'll have to check my 'tackle' posts for last week, because I didn't get to everything, lol. I can't believe it's almost February.
readinmom
Mystery Jen, that's a lot of driving and reading! Morning, all! It is dd's birthday (15)! Taking the day off to do breakfast, short day trip. Dinner out per her request, and no birthday cake this year. She wants cheesecake instead. Maybe some grading, reading later. Have a great day!
Jean in Newcastle
human care done pet care done medical care done I have been working really really hard on my health. I have literally doubled my exercise and have kept it up consistently for seven days. I have started bone broth (3 days so far). I am religiously checking my bloodsugar and have been working really hard to keep it under control - it's better and trending in the right direction. But I haven't lost any weight at all. Just a bit discouraged. Please tell me that these habits are healthy and good for me no matter what the scale says.
Pink and Green Mom
Jean, throw out your scale! Seriously. Get rid of it, or lock it up in the trunk of your husband's car. Or have him hide it somewhere you won't be able to get to. The scale is a big fat liar. It is better IMO to go by (1) how you feel and (2) how your clothes feel.

I never feel good. 2. My clothes are stretchy. :leaving: But my husband is trying to get me to throw out the scale so you have some company. . .

I have a good scale, weighs in tenths of a pound, measures body mass (not that I figured out how), but it varies by several pounds depending upon where I place it on the floor. Like pp, I end to rely more on a tape measure (waist only).
Alessandra
Day is turning out better than I had hoped. Over the weekend I cleaned refrigerator, removing every shelf, discarding older jars of food, even if they look ok. So I felt good about that. I had also rearranged some cupboards and located my copper sugar pan, so I polished that. Polishing always makes me feel good. I remembered that I had frozen sea scallops, wildly popular in my family, so I can skip supermarket and just make a quick trip to veggie store. The I went to Amazon France and found a little pan for baking a particular kind of cake. I've been looking for ages, as it seems the pan is no longer distributed in U.S. or Canada; ebay prices reflect this and are astronomical. Amazon.fr was so easy to use. The French site had all my login info, easily converted to dollars, and offered reasonable shipping. Bills still need to be paid, but this day has been better than expected so far.
Selkie
Jean, you are doing great. Just keep focusing on good health instead of weight - that's what I do. I swear, once I hit my 40's, it's like a switch flipped and my body started fighting me tooth and nail to hang onto every single calorie and every single pound. Last year, I cleaned up my diet and started eating mainly vegetables and a bit of seafood. No sugar, no junk, very little grains or dairy. I managed to lose 20 lbs. but it was slow going. I still have more to lose, but the scale hasn't budged for weeks. It's frustrating. I just keep telling myself that health is the important thing, not the number on the scale.

I'm considerably older than you and I know that my metabolism is shot. I've been an semi-invalid numerous times, clawed my way out to being mobile and functional multiple times. Right now I'm on a huge upswing functionally. But my metabolism doesn't seem to know it. What I need to tell myself is to give it at least a month before seeing if this is working. After all, the seven days I've been doing this incarnation of these habits has only been a week! OK - time to eat my lunch salad with protein.

MysteryJen
Well, no tickets. Super annoying and frustrating, but oh well. Home now, dh and ds3 will leave soon to rent skis and pick up ds2. SKL
I know this is super late, but I had a little mom win today. I bought my kid some polar bear PJs for Christmas, and she really loves them. Tomorrow is PJ day at school, and she was excited to wear the polar bear top. Well, we couldn't find it. I thought maybe she left it at the grandparents' house. We were about to give up after looking everywhere 3x, and then I had an idea. Could it have fallen out of the overstuffed PJ drawer and ended up on the floor under the dresser? Sure enough, there it was. My kid (who is definitely not in a polite phase) said "thank you mommy" at least 3 times. :P Between this and giving awesome help on the math and science homework, I think I might be a keeper. :)
