Scarlett
Where do you find a white men's dress shirt that is not see through? When worn with a suit it isn't that big of deal, but ds has a ceremony coming up where they will be in white shirts, black tie and no jacket. QueenCat
I don't think any of dh's are see through. I'm pretty sure he got both at Men's Wearhouse. He does wear a white t-shirt under them.
Beth S
We buy our teen boys' white dress shirts inexpensively at Walmart. Regardless, they need to wear a white undershirt underneath. And one that does NOT have a graphic on it. :-) They are not "thin", but all white shirts have some transparency. Thus the undershirt. zoobie
Yes to the undershirt. If they won't be a frequently-worn item, you can get decent ones at TJMaxx and Marshall's. Costco carries no iron white dress shirts that I'd look at for ease of laundering if they'll be worn often.
Arcadia
The most translucent white men's dress shirts are heavy linen or flannel. They are hard to find off season though. You would still need to pair with seamless sleeveless white undershirts.
Guest
Yep, undershirts.
Scarlett
I am sorry I wasn't very clear. He always wears an undershirt. No matter the color dress shirt. But he doesn't like being able to see the undershirt sleeves through his dress shirt.
4Kiddos
My husband really likes the Nordstrom's Men Shop shirts. They are comfortable, really nice thick fabric, and last a really long time while still looking new. I find them on sale or clearance because they are pricey.
gardenmom5
I have found I like the men's oxford pinpoint executive wrinkle-free/easy care stafford dress shirts from jcpenny's - I prefer no button down collar. otherwise I like costco's shirt. wider collar http://www.jcpenney.com/stafford-executive-non-iron-cotton-pinpoint-oxford-dress-shirt/prod.jump?ppId=pp5006170156&rrec=true&rrplacementtype=product1_rr this one has a button collar http://www.jcpenney.com/stafford-travel-wrinkle-free-oxford-dress-shirt/prod.jump?ppId=pp5003521141&rrec=true&rrplacementtype=product1_rr I loath and utterly despise van heusen shirts - to me they're among the worst offenders for see thru. (they're also everywhere. they're cheap - so dh will buy them if I can't stop him.) eta: I can agree with nordstrom - both for quality and not being able to see through them, and price. . . . . gstharr
Well, I've been wearing white, monogrammed french cuff dress shirts from Paul Frederick for 30 years. Here is an introductory offer. I only wear the regular iron shirts-- not see through. Never tried the no-irons though (my guess is that the material is thinner). Friend who have used the intro offer said that they were able to ask for the regular iron shirts with intro deal https://www.paulfredrick.com/intro/intro.aspx?pg=best_t7rsmb&sc=t7rsmb&pagetype=introbluec&MC=PAIDSRCH&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Brand%20-%20%2424.95%20Offer&utm_term=paul%20fredrick%20introductory%20offer&utm_content=Brand%20-%20%2424.95%20Offer%20-%20Exact
G5052
My guys have oxford shirts from J.C. Penney that fit the bill. They're a few years old though, so I don't know about the quality of what they are carrying now.
slackermom
Dh gets his white shirts from Brooks Brothers. He does wear undershirts, but they do not show through. Edited October 5, 2017 by slackermom
