I've seen this in the past, but what exactly is it? I'm willing to help if I can.

Here is the info from last year...

UPDATE to the update in post #17!

UPDATE in post #16!

It's time for another season of Boardies Helping Boardies! For the past two years, Chucki has matched up those boardies who are in need with those who wish to help out. This year, I'll be doing the matching, but the guidelines remain the same:

If you and your family have a need for the Christmas/Holiday season PM me with the need. This can be anything holiday related. If your family is desperately scraping together gas money to get to grandma's for Christmas where you will have food and gifts, then ask for help with gas. Don't ask for gas if you have everything you need at your fingertips and want to go visit just because it is Christmas. If you can't afford to feed your family a special meal, ask for help with food. Don't as if you are just feeling lazy and want a Honey-Baked ham for Christmas dinner. If you need help putting a gift under the tree or in a stocking for Christmas then ask for help. If your kid wants an iPhone5s and you've already spend the Christmas budget on six other electronics for him, consider being a boardie who helps someone out this season.

PM me your need. If you are asking for something specific like clothing I'll need ages/sizes. I'll post what is being asked for anonymously in this thread. Generally an answer comes within a few hours. I'll then put the giver in touch with the person who needs help.

If you are a boardie willing to share what you have with someone in less than ideal circumstances, please PM me with what you are willing to give. If you want to give a gift card please indicate how much and from what store(s). For example, if you can give $50 in Amazon cards let me know if that can be divided into two gifts of $25 or if you want to keep it at the entire amount. If you have had a very good year and can help a large family please indicate that. If you prefer to shop yourself and will have what you've purchased shipped, please let me know in the PM.

(Why, yes, I did cheat and copy Chucki's post from last year! :) )

The only restriction placed on the requests is that the boardie be a member for at least 3 months.

Remember, if you have a need, or want to help, send it to me in a PM! Do not post personal information on this thread! (Sorry about the "yelling" there, but SWB has granted us permission to continue the Boardies Helping Boardies tradition with the understanding that it be handled through PM's only!)

Happy Holidays, Boardies!

Anyone willing to organize this year?

I can but we will need to pull this together quickly. I will be using the framework from prior years so please refer to the shared posts above.

If you have a need, or want to help with a need, please inbox me ASAP. I realize that this is short notice, but as the holidays are approaching rapidly (or have passed already), I am going to set 12/20 at 2359 US EST as the deadline. I will be matching on 12/21 (or sooner if possible) and should be contacting helpers with instructions by that afternoon at the latest.

If you messaged me earlier with needs or offers of assistance please check your messages. If we have any other members who would like to contribute please message me. I think we are mostly set but we have a few families who need assistance with food or gas and additional amounts could certainly be sent to those families.

Ok I think I have responded to all messages--sorry for the delay I ended up needing to go back into the hospital to do a consult so I was gone most of the day not just two hours as I had planned. If you requested help I have got that mostly arranged. You should get a message from me tomorrow or Wednesday letting you know what to expect (in a general sense ie expect packages from Amazon, expect cards in mail, etc).

On that note my wonderful husband says dinner is ready!
