CC: When things are going bad...

Recommended Posts

Yes. I like 1 Corinthians 10:13 even though it's talking about "temptations" (I think another version says "troubles") but I like that it says God always offers the way of escape...

And recently, God led me to open my Bible right to Psalm 33:18 (it just caught my eye as I flipped my Bible open!) and I read all the way to the end and through Psalm 34. What a tremendous comfort. Here they are for you now:

33:18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,

on those who hope in his steadfast love,

19 that he may deliver their soul from death

and keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waits for the Lord;

he is our help and our shield.

21 For our heart is glad in him,

because we trust in his holy name.

22 Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,

even as we hope in you.

34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times;

his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul makes its boast in the Lord;

let the humble hear and be glad.

3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,

and let us exalt his name together!

4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me

and delivered me from all my fears.

5 Those who look to him are radiant,

and their faces shall never be ashamed.

6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him

and saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the Lord encamps

around those who fear him, and delivers them.

8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!

Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

9 Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints,

for those who fear him have no lack!

10 The young lions suffer want and hunger;

but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

11 Come, O children, listen to me;

I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

12 What man is there who desires life

and loves many days, that he may see good?

13 Keep your tongue from evil

and your lips from speaking deceit.

14 Turn away from evil and do good;

seek peace and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous

and his ears toward their cry.

16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil,

to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

17 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears

and delivers them out of all their troubles.

18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted

and saves the crushed in spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,

but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

20 He keeps all his bones;

not one of them is broken.

21 Affliction will slay the wicked,

and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.

22 The Lord redeems the life of his servants;

none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.

***Hallelujah!!*** :001_smile: I now read these almost daily because we are going through a very difficult time.

What shall we say, then, in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all -- how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.

Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died -- more than that, who was raised to life -- is at the right hand of God is also interceding for us.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

As it is written: For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,

neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hope that encourages you today! :grouphug:

Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made know to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its' own things. Sufficient fo the the day is its' own trouble.

I hope these bring a bit of comfort to you. I don't know what your problems are, but I'm sending up a prayer for you.:grouphug:

Psalm 121

A song of ascents.

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—

where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the LORD,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip—

he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel

will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD watches over you—

the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

6 the sun will not harm you by day,

nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—

he will watch over your life;

8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going

both now and forevermore.

Isaiah 40:28-31

28Have you not known? Have you not heard?The LORD is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He does not faint or grow weary;

his understanding is unsearchable.

29He gives power to the faint,

and to him who has no might he increases strength.

30Even youths shall faint and be weary,

and young men shall fall exhausted;

31but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings like eagles;

they shall run and not be weary;

they shall walk and not faint.

God is our Refuge and Strength

A very present Help in trouble.

Therefore will not we fear

Though the earth be removed

Though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea

Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled

Though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof

There is a river

The streams whereof shall make glad the city of God.

God is in the midst of her

She shall not be moved

He shall help her

And that right early.

Zephaniah 3:17

The LORD your God is in your midst,

a mighty one who will save;

he will rejoice over you with gladness;

he will quiet you by his love;

he will exult over you with loud singing.

Isaiah 41, particularly verses 10 and 13

10fear not, for I am with you;

be not dismayed, for I am your God;

I will strengthen you, I will help you,

I will uphold you with® my righteous right hand.

13For I, the LORD your God,

hold your right hand;

it is I who say to you, "Fear not,

I am the one who helps you.

Psalm 61: 1-4

1Hear my cry, O God,

listen to my prayer;

2from the end of the earth I call to you

when my heart is faint.

Lead me to the rock

that is higher than I,

3for you have been my refuge,

a strong tower against the enemy.

4Let me dwell in your tent forever!

Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings!

Selah

Habakuk 3: 17-19

17Though the fig tree should not blossom,

nor fruit be on the vines,

the produce of the olive fail

and the fields yield no food,

the flock be cut off from the fold

and there be no herd in the stalls,

18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD;

I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

19GOD, the Lord, is my strength;

he makes my feet like the deer’s;

he makes me tread on my high places.

God's richest blessings on you and yours.

is there a Bible verse that helps you through it? If so, what is it.

Thank you!!!

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Jude 24-25

Exodus chapter 15

Psalm 31

Psalm 43

Isaiah 61:1-3

Psalm 27

Lamentations 3:22-26

Psalm 73

Job 38

Philippians 4:6-9

Psalm 32

Um maybe I should just say, any Scripture has the power to speak clearly to us in times of plenty or in times of trouble. There have been many times when I go to my knees and the Holy Spirit seems to make the print on the page look bold, italicized, and highlighted. :001_smile:

Don't forget music! I have a go-to playlist for when my heart is troubled. This CD is FABULOUS. Some well-known artists set Scripture to music and many of the verses we've all listed are sung on the CD. Go get it!
