These are really cool clips, Miss Ellie; there is obviously a lot to the art of hula.  When are you going to write a guide for those of us who are clueless?  Or, better yet, a curriculum?  I bet "The Art of Hula" would make a great one semester, cultural studies elective! :)

Ah....the best guide would be to take a hula class yourself. I am just a novice, even after 10 years of dancing. :-)

I big pink puffy heart hula. I only wish I had discovered it when I lived in California, which depending on where you live has a halau (hula school) a stone's throw from wherever you live, lol. But no...I had to fall in love with it just a few months before I moved to Central Texas, where there is a dearth of Island presence.

Uhhh, I live in an area where the only "major" store within a 30 minute drive is Wal-Mart.  For culture, I must live vicariously through the internet.  You've been a great help with that, though! :001_smile:

So.... no change with dad. We go to eye specialist on Wednesday, they are wanting to give it some healing time.

Little ds lost another baby tooth.

And..... :grouphug: to EVERYONE! Just thinking of you all lightens my heart. :001_wub:

Oh, and art place says they will replace everything, but it is on back-order until May 15th.:(

Okay, I concede the point.

Perhaps if one accidentally precedes Slash to the top of a page, one could post an "Admittedly-inferior-but-done-honor-of-Slash" Booyah?

Well, I went to my dentist appointment today, and of course nothing hurt when I went in. I was mildly uncomfortable though. She did find an infection and I got antibiotics. I have another appointment tomorrow. It was supposed to have been an exam the beginning of April, then the treatment today. They moved my exam appointment to tomorrow because the dentist wasn't available on my appt day. She opened my mouth today and said, "I don't know where to start." Yes, I know it's bad. At least my teeth aren't falling out. Yet.

I love the dentist. (Mine, at least.)

A heated neckroll, my choice of music or cable, and hour in which no one says "mommy!!!!"

Heaven.

No. From the beginning she had my sister in law's personality and that terrified us. This is a grown woman who can't hold down a job and told the authorities her father beat her when he wouldn't let her use his credit card for a slurpee! She was destroyed by having everything handed to her and my husband says it started at this age. She (Mary) has been doing it with everything. I don't want to eat that, I don't want to pick up, I don't want to come when I'm called. We need to put a stop to it now or I will kill her as a teen.

I have a child who resembles a relative that is certifiably (certified) not well and who makes demands like that. Just nuts.

I have had moderate success by being the most hard-assed person on the planet.

I am glad I did not give in but I really try hard to remember that this behavior is neither a necessary nor sufficient condition for buttholehood as an adult, and that lots of people turn out awful who were well-parented, and that lots of people who were not well-parented still turn out fine. And that she's her own person, not some adult relative who screwed up their chances so many times it's not even funny.

But yeah, I did not get the socks, either. Because it doesn't end with socks. It never ends. It doesn't end when he's 38 and wants you to get him a glass of water just because he knows you don't want him to yell while the baby's asleep, so he can enjoy that control and it's four a.m. it just. never. ends. The control is the goal, not the socks. Everyone thought I was crazy until I started letting the kids spend a week with others.

Now they get it. Vindication.

We will get through it, Slash.

These are my thoughts exactly. She's since made a complete 180 and is wonderful again. I'm sure she'll pull another 180 soon. She is loved and part of that love is discipline, but she knows she's loved. Thanks for the reassurance. I spoke with several people about it and I'm confident that things are well. That was one heck of a night though.

Sorry to keep bugging about dental issues, but, that's all I have to talk about now. So today's exam showed my teeth are not falling out, but several fillings need to be redone. Next Thursday, I get to have an impacted wisdom tooth pulled. Oh, joy!

She also referred me to an orthodontist for perhaps braces. Wasn't there someone else on here considering braces?
