Chris in VA
I'm getting hot flashes a LOT lately--like, 2-5 times a day. My weight is up, so I'm probably producing more estrogen via the fat I'm carrying. IDK if that has anything to do with it. Natural helps you all have used? I'd appreciate your input. ScoutTN
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs (prescribed by acu practitioner) made mine go away. Acupuncture is so relaxing a good for stress too!

Pawz4me
I believe Remifimen (standardized black cohosh supplement) is helping. Hot flashes still happen, but they seem to be less frequent and less intense. It took about six weeks after starting it to notice a difference. Luckymama
Honestly? Hard exercise, multiple times a week. Once I switched from walking to fast pilates/elliptical/body weight exercises the hot flashes went away, even though my cycles are wonkier than ever. wintermom
I've been eating 1 - 2 tablespoons of ground flax in my breakfast every morning and it's reduced my hot flashes. This was suggested by my doctor.
Laura Corin
I have found that increased exercise cured my mild hot flushes. I was getting them a 2-5 times a day too. When I increased my exercise to 10,000 brisk steps a day, plus yoga once a week, they went away. For the last ten days I haven't been able to walk and they are coming back. There may be a psychological element, but it has worked for me...
VaKim
Wow! Only 2-5 times a day sounds heavenly to me! Lol. I tried everything ever recommended, and nothing has helped. I have finally figured out that my hot flashes "cycle." I will be doing so much better, with only a few very mild ones a day, for a couple weeks. Then, next thing I know, I am having really horrid ones nearly all day and all night long. The nights are the worst because they keep me awake. And exercise actually seems to make mine worse. This is another one of those things where everybody is different. Btw, I had everything removed 3 years ago due to ovarian cancer, so not sure if they are any different for women who go through it naturally. Natural progesterone cream is one thing I tried that hasn't been mentioned yet. Didn't work for me, but might for you.
Chris in VA
Thanks so much. As far as natural herb/oil stuff, how do you know dosage and frequency and stuff/ I guess it's all online? I'm hesitant wrt hormonal things, even natural, bc of breast cancer. So I'd prob go with exercise and maybe Remi.
Tammyla
I've found mine are worse during pms esp when doing something hot like blow-drying my hair or any real work. I wear a good bra w/wicking (breezies) & use a fan. I gave up caffeine too.
