Night Elf
Our age range is 15 to 75. The older people are a bit clueless, honestly I'd say really clueless. Would they enjoy the Junior version more or would the Adult version be okay?
momofkhm
I don't have the junior version, but do they have a Christian background? There is a Bible version. They may "get" that one more.
TheReader
The regular/adult version has a LOT more pop culture references, though also quite a bit of historical figures. The junior version still has pop culture references, of a more kid-friendly nature, and fewer historical figures. The kid's version (7+ rather than the 9+) has even fewer pop culture references. The only one I'd stay away from would be the party edition, which has quite a few risque type cards; we played once with friends and all 4 of us felt a bit uncomfortable. When we play we mostly use the kid version (ages 7+); our age range is 8 to 38, and we all enjoy that one.
Jann in TX
I think the regular one would be just fine-- the Jr version has 'Harry Potter' cards and such that the older people really would NOT get... with your age range the Adult version seems to fit better... Starr
If you are all up to a good laugh they can make something up with the cards they don't know. Or you can pull them before you play. You will still have plenty of cards!
readwithem
The thing with Apples is there is NO "right" answer - the right answer is the one the "judge" picks! My dh usually goes for sarcasm and he wins all the time. Sometimes it's the irony of the response. Everybody has 7 cards to choose from for each turn - so even if there's a card or two in your hand that you don't know, you can just not play that one. And we've learned to NOT play pop culture cards with the younger set (or in your case, the older set). We love playing Apples and it's ALWAYS a hit. The only time it doesn't work very well is when you have only a few people playing.
xixstar
I think I need to get the Junior one - there are so many references in the standard game that I really just don't get (yes, my history knowledge is lacking - it'll get better as we move along). Would they enjoy the Junior version more or would the Adult version be okay? Our extended family (10-70 of those actually playing) prefers the Jr. There are just too many references in the regular game that none of us get. Night Elf
Oh, so mixed reviews! :tongue_smilie: I like the idea of pulling out cards that we won't know well. DH and dd15 think we should get the adult game. I've never played before but dd says it's a lot of fun with a large group.

One year every time it was my my turn to judge, I chose the winning card solely on which one made a specific friend laugh the most. She has the best laugh! No one could figure out how I was making my choices. LOL I think I need to get the Junior one - there are so many references in the standard game that I really just don't get (yes, my history knowledge is lacking - it'll get better as we move along). There are a lot of references in the adult game that I don't get either. I just use those cards as throw away cards. If I don't have a good card to play anyway, I throw away one of the bad cards. It works out fine.
mom2scouts
I love Apples to Apples. The first time I played it, I laughed so hard that my sides hurt. I think it's even funnier when someone gives an answer when they don't totally understand the card. There's never a right or wrong answer anyway. school17777
We play the Jr version with company as that's the version that we own and it works out fine.
MyThreeSons
We play the regular version in our family. My dh has Alzheimer's, and frequently has no clue what a card means, but he plays it anyway, and often wins. We all have fun. There are several inside jokes within our family that involve hilarious Apples to Apples combinations.
