Jann in TX
I'm looking for book suggestions for a fun summer read for ME. I liked the Hunger Games and Harry Potter ... I would not mind something a little more grown up-- but it needs to have a good story line and a bit of romance is OK-- but nothing R rated. Thanks! Vida Winter
You might enjoy The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton.
Kakids
Have you seen The Hollows series by Kim Harrison? The first book is Dead Witch Walking.
Harriet Vane
Robin McKinley writes beautiful fantasy fiction. Her most fantasyish ones are The Hero and The Crown and The Blue Sword, but may personal favorite is Beauty. I love all her works, though. Not fantasy, but still wonderful: Mitford series by Jan Karon Number One Ladies' Detective Agency or Sunday Philosophy Club series by Alexander McCall Smith Irish Country Doctor series
Mrs Mungo
The Ocean at the End of the Land and Stardust both by Neil Gaiman are good. Have you read the Kingkiller series by Patrick Rothfuss? It was pretty good.
Sparkle
Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella.

Or has Jann read all of those already? My summer is finally slowing down a bit and I plan on revisiting Busman's Honeymoon. :)

Jann, start with Strong Poison if you want a good British mystery with a romance thrown in.
Ottakee
Someone here suggested http://www.amazon.com/Hens-Chickens-Sovereign-Series-ebook/dp/B008OPDZ78/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1374175067&sr=1-1&keywords=chickens+and+hens I really enjoyed it. It was a clean, light read but not one of those formula Christian romances.
Kim in Appalachia
The Dinner, by Herman Koch The Shining Girls: A Novel, by Lauren Beukes Wool, by Hugh Howey The Vampires at the Lemon Grove, by Karen Russell (a collection of short stories) The Windup Girl, by Paolo Bacigalupi (maybe R rated, but so good!) Anything by Neil Gaiman Among Others, by Jo Walton I think this one would make a great summer read, and you should be able to get it from the library
austen
I really enjoyed What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarity. Couldn't put it down! If you like mysteries and Jane Austen, Death Comes to Pemberly by P.D. James. I second the Ladies' Detective Society, and I also enjoyed La's Orchestra Saves the World by the same author.
