my2boysteacher
of Lyme's Disease? I was told last week by a Naturopath (who is also a licensed medical doctor) that I have Lyme's Disease. This was determined not by a blood test, but more 'nontraditional' testing. I was also given a natural rememdy to take, and told to come back in 6 weeks. I can't wrap my head around this, without concrete numbers. Would you believe her, or go have conventional testing done (blood test)? tex-mex
Um... :leaving: No. I would not believe the diagnosis without a blood test by a specialist.
bettyandbob
I probably would. If I had researched the particular practitioner before making an appointment to see her. I've had so many traditional doctors mess up diagnoses for myself and my dc over the last 10+ years that I don't believe one way is better than the other. Joanne
No. I believe Naturopaths have a valid, important place as medical and lifestyle resources. But if I suspected lyme disease, I'd be at a lab getting tested. And I'd use traditional/allopathic medicine to treat.
Jean in Newcastle
I have gone to many naturopathic doctors. Some have given preliminary diagnoses by nontraditional methods but have always followed those preliminary diagnoses with a traditional test if there was one available. I would not trust a diagnosis of lymes that did not include a blood test.
gardenmom5
I'd need more information. I've only dealt with one ND, but I like her immensely. She's helped my son make very good progress when MD's brushed off my concern's.
Rivka
No, but I wouldn't expect the natural remedy to do anything one way or another, either. If you think you have Lyme disease, get a blood test and antibiotics.
Jean in Newcastle
No, but I wouldn't expect the natural remedy to do anything one way or another, either. If you think you have Lyme disease, get a blood test and antibiotics. Well, some natural remedies are antibiotic in nature. But they aren't usually as strong as a synthetic antibiotic. I wouldn't want to mess around with Lyme's.
