Susan Wise Bauer
Folks, For at least the last year, the General board has moved so fast that discussions often disappear into the third or fourth page of topics before they've had a chance to be seen--particularly if they're on more serious matters that take time and thought to respond to. We've thought for some time that it would be a good idea to have a board just for chatting, so that education-related threads on the General board don't get buried so quickly. Here's the old definition of the General board... "For general questions about classical education methods, teaching techniques, readiness, supplemental activities, field trips, assessments, frustrations, online resources, etc. or just for hanging out and chatting!" Let's move the "hanging out and chatting" threads over to this board instead and keep the General board for the rest. SWB

VaKim
Great idea! I'm thinking though, that if you all have the capabilities with this board to send out a pm to all members, that might be helpful. I know someone pointed out elsewhere that many people just jump into the forums without really noticing or looking for the announcements and whatnot. KungFuPanda
Fine! ::full body sigh with eye roll:: ^^^ I learned that from my teen! It might help to rename the General board. If you call it the General Education Board it might clear up the confusion. Yes, I know it's in the 'Education' group, but it looked soooooo familiar and comforting that I just clicked and started chatting.
Hen
yeah, I just jumped on the general board and didn't even notice the announcement. I did notice the locked threads though, and found out that way. A good idea, it will just take me a few days to remember they are separate now.

Guest shortbg
Hello. I am brand new to homeschooling and to this board. I have a 3rd grader and a 1st grader. I just realized I should have started my 1st grader in Saxon 2 instead of Saxon 1. We've been working in Saxon 1 for about 3 weeks now, but I'm thinking about switching. I joined this forum looking for used materials and just some general pointers. Thanks for letting me be a part!
funmommy
Since we're just chatting here. I'm new to the boards and am curious what these titles are above the profile pix and how to edit them..."Queen Bee", "Hive Mind", etc. :confused1: Thanks!

The more you post actively and the more time you spend here will change the titles. Hope it helps :)
Guest gada.ts
HELP!!! I'm new to all this and my high school-er has had nothing but troubles with school. She's done some school from home online through the school and then went to an alternative school. But still just can't handle being in school. I feel we've run out of options except for possible doing her last half of semester home school style. I'm not exactly sure how much she has left. She's in her senior year and honestly I don't if she has a half a year left to finish or the whole year. That being said I don't know what to do. I would like to home school her, her last year I just don't know where to start or what to do. Any suggestions?

I'm new to the boards and am curious what these titles are above the profile pix and how to edit them..."Queen Bee", "Hive Mind", etc. :confused1: Thanks! Hi, if you're still interested, the titles used to be linked to how many posts members had made, so you sort of leveled up to a new one every so often. Then that system got ditched, and so you can choose your own title. Click on the little trigon next to your use name in the top right hand corner of your screen. Select My Profile - Edit My Profile - and under Profile Information there is a Member Title field. Input the title you would like and Save. HELP!!! If you are still around, please try posting this in the General Education forum you will get a lot of responses. (Not going to reply in detail here in case you posting once and didn't come back.)
