Disney planners!!!! List the dates of your trip here so we can plan a meet-up!

Recommended Posts

That's a Sunday to Saturday.... we might be able to get there on a Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll talk to dh. Since we fly standby free, we don't even try MCO on the weekends.

Really? You fly free? That is awesome and certainly makes the trip cheap! We have relatives who live in Chattanooga - halfway for us. And, we have relatives in FL. So whenever we see either of them, we do Disney!

9/10-14, I think. But I think my mother has our trip planned to the nth degree. Hilariously, we planned the same dates as another homeschool family we know. I was like, will it be all homeschoolers taking advantage of those early school days no one else can miss?

Flight Attendent. Have to be very, very mellow, chilled, relaxed to do it. It's all standby. :)

A lot of airline people buy tickets for vacation since they go when everyone else does. We just wing it and hope it works out. :D

Very cool! Have you ever had it not work out? And, do you have any scary/weird/funny stories to tell? I am seriously obsessed with traveling, so I may stalk you now, if you don't mind!

So, I am now missing TWO WTM families by a couple of days?????? Urgh. Maybe we should extend our Disney stay?! :001_smile:

Haha! Well, one that comes to mind was a little bit before kiddos. I had a long Seattle layover over Labor Day weekend. I was spending two nights, very unusual. (Seattle is notoriously hard to travel as a standby). My husband came with me and had no problem getting there. We had a blast, went all around the city on the bus (our normal way to travel; ask me about any bus system around the country) even had a guy escorted off for smoking non-tobacco products on the city bus. :) Anyway, Monday comes and he gets to the airport with me and the agent says to him he can't get him out of Seattle until Wednesday at the earliest.

I waved goodbye and told him good luck. :D I had to work the flight, so he was on his own. He went to the Alaskan Air ticket counter (pre-internet), showed his employee card, and bought a non-rev ticket (deep, reduced fare for airline employees) on them to LAX, then jumped on our airline to from LAX to ORD and beat me back to Chicago, where we were living at the time. He is a hippie, relaxed, laid-back, scrape you off the floor type of guy. Great to travel standby; me not so much.

We only go to Disney on low season if we stay on property with a dining plan. My blood pressure couldn't take it.

Really? Oh, my goodness. I would love to meet you. ..... ducking just in case that sounds like stalking. ;)

September it is mostly homeschooling families, young kids, and South Americans. :)

It may be cheaper with them. They have a block of rooms reserved at a discount. You don't have to live in SC or be a member of anything. Last year we had people from Canada, Michigan, and all over joining us!

no, I didn't realize they were going then. We just started talking this weekend and thought we'd book a trip. It's free dining then and it we haven't been since Dec. 2009.

We'll be going back sometime in June, probably June 5-12. Dd17 doesn't want to go to the beach for Senior Week :) so we'll be meeting a friend's family at WDW.

Dh, dd12, and I will be getting annual passes next year. We're planning on going down at least once more her 8th grade year when both the older kids will be at college :D

Thanks for the info - I've been checking and it does look like it would save quite a bit. We've never stayed at the Swan and we wouldn't have the dining - but I'm thinking we might try it.

The Swan is cool. I'm not a fan of the dining plans anyway, so that wouldn't bother me. YMMV.

My family is on hold right now for our upcoming vacation due to my Mom's continued decline and issues with the nursing home. I don't feel I can post my dates at this point, because it might surely jinx any chance we have of still going...

As for Disneyland, we're targeting the end of next August. Just trying to get our other friends' schedules together.
