YouTube users - share some treasures please

Recommended Posts

I am just starting to realize how much useful stuff is on YouTube. So, for those of you who have been using it with your kids, what do you watch? Do you have any favorites you can share?

I have 2 boys, 5 and 7 if that helps.

Specifically YouTube or short vids on line in general? If the latter:

My son loves the explosions.

What a FABULOUS resource! Don't know how you found it, but I sure am glad that you shared it. I wasn't just taking a look at it and my son was extremely interested. "Ooh, can I watch?" Up he climbed in my lap to watch.

Thank you very much!

You will never guess. I was reading An Irreverent and Incomplete Social History of Almost Everything by Frank Muir (a very funny book you can find cheap at Amazon) when he mentioned the poem:

noting that Boot's Cash Chemist had donated money to start a more pragmatic kind of higher education. I thought: hummmm, if Boot's Cash Chemist started the university, I wonder if they have a fab chemistry department, and went googling. Well, they do.

I'm linking to the main subscription pages for these, so you can scroll through their offerings.

LOVE this lady. She takes popular music and puts a history lesson to it. Pretty sure she is an actual history teacher. Here's the main page -

Here is a link to one of my faves from her (on the plague) -

These are "horrible histories." The kids love them. Basically, gives you gruesome or gross information from history. Done in a comedic style. Here's the main page, so you can go through what they have to offer -

We really like the ones that are set to pop music. Here are two offerings, from soomopublishing. They have a page that you can follow as well, but so far I've only seen these two offerings -

This one is on women's suffrage...set to a Gaga tune. I like it...just trust me and watch!

This one is on the Declaration of Independence, set to Timbaland's "Apologize." The kids really liked this one.

Hope some people have some more links. We love using Youtube!

We just did Yuck Mouth because my 4 year old dd didn't want to brush.

I was going to suggest Julian Smith (totally not educational) but I think he is funny. My kid's love him although I usually screen first just to be sure. He is a Christian and was homeschooled but he is in his 20's and content is sometimes, well it just needs to be screened a little bit!

Now you all know I am a dork.

These are videos I have made. They are skip counting songs, a books of the New Testament song I made up using a familiar tune and a couple of poetry videos. I used them to have a daily memory time with my kids. They sing the tunes all the time during math for different reasons. Sometime, I plan to add more. Probably this summer.

Well, it's not for little kids, but my son and his friends put a (imo) funny video on Youtube a couple months before my son died. It's called A Stroll with Ninjas. My son is the proper British man who meets the ninjas.

What a charming video! Thank you for sharing. :grouphug:
