  1. Thank you all for your replies! I have been at my daughter's play for the last couple of days and kind of got sidetracked. I am liking the idea of a 6 month lease. That met be good with a clause to break it and pay a penalty. Still having zero luck on a three month lease. We are looking at Gunter, VanAlstyne south to McKinney, Parker, Allen etc and all that area where there is a little bit of room. In Gunter/VanAlstyne there are still houses that don't actually go under contract the second they hit the market. It is nice, you have like a whole week before they go under contract! However, we want a bunch of nice stuff (shop, pool, guest quarters) and we want it all for cheaper than it generally comes at. 😂😂. We have seen a couple with what we want and at the price we want to pay but it was before we had our sea legs and knew what area we wanted to be in. We will see what happens! My husband said a big NO on the RV. So, we are still looking and praying. I am excited to get there. I am not sure why it is so darn popular there but I do like what is there and the people seem very cool so, yay!
  2. Never saw myself jumping on 3 grand a month thinking, "yeah! 3 grand a month!".
  3. What is VRBO? Is it Vacation rental something something?
  4. 3 Lasy bugs, I am considering that. We actually have done that in the past. My husband really doesn't want to do that again (he works out of the house--or in that case "house". It is getting to the point where it makes more sense! I just wondered if anyone has ideas other than that because with the two dogs and three cats and t kids and working out of the house--it's not ideal! I am still just open to any and all options.
  5. France's, I did look into Air B and B -- it is still pretty expensive, and the pets are an issue but I may go look at that option again.
  6. I have considered that. I checked on renting a class c and it is like 5-6 K a month! 😳😳😳
  7. It has been a while since I have been on here but this is often the place I go when I need advice. We sold our house in Missouri and are moving to Dallas--ok--north of Dallas. We are looking for acreage and the things we are looking for are avaiable but few and far between. We need time! We have looked into renting houses or apartments and -- short term--there is nothing. No one wants to rent short term. Long term hotel with 4 kids, two dogs and three cats--8 grand a month! Does any one have any ideas? We would rather not settle until we find the right home and the summer is just ramping up so we really don't want to rent a house or apartment for 6 months or a year--the right house is right around the corner! We just do need to go somewhere! Any thoughts or ideas? I am getting too old for this!

  9. I am thinking I need to get an online program. I have been out of touch for a while with what is new in homeschooling and don't know where to start! Does anyone know of something online that might cover lots of the bases for English?
  10. I'll check that out, thanks. I have had a hard time finding really what we want. My husband likes to fix up cars and so he needs a shop. I have not found really any houses that have a shop. Maybe in this new area I can find that!
  11. Thank you! That was exactly what I wanted to see and didn't know how to find.
  12. Thank you! That was exactly what I wanted to see and didn't know how to find.
  13. I just want to go through the cards and do some of the recommended reading on the cards. What would be the top overall books you would get to do that. I see Streams of Civilization a lot, Kingfisher and the Famous Men series. What else would be good? I am mostly doing the ancients and also the middle ages if that makes any difference. I don't need to hit every single card with reading, just a good majority without owning every book in the universe! Thanks!
  14. Google her. I know she has a website. She is a speaker at lots of conferences. I am glad to see her out there!
  15. What was it you didn't like specifically? If you don't mind my asking!
  16. People who live or lived in Texas seem to really love it there. The people there seemed (in general obviously) very friendly. I appreciate that perspective on the humidity because that was totally the sense we got. Raleigh does sound lovely with all the green and the homes are really nice looking. Anyone else?
  17. Lanny, we are looking at the Anna area. We were there from July 29 to August 2 and did not feel like it was humid at all. Was that unusual? We love that whole northern area. I did have nightmares about my kids driving on the highways! (Literally)
  18. I like Carole Joy Seid. She is very inspiring. Her way of doing things is different from on here but they make a lot of sense. Go for it! I figure just gleaning a bit of information is worth it even if you don't do everything she suggests.
  19. We are looking to move and, at this point, these are the top contenders. We visited Dallas and really like it there. We really like the dryer climate. Is it usually pretty dry there? Raleigh is beautiful. We live in a very humid climate now and my poor son does not do well in it. I am concerned that it is going to be really humid like it is here in southwest Missouri. (I have looked at charts and graphs that detail humidity in different areas but I don't think you really know until you have been somewhere a while.) Has anyone lived in or at least visited either? I am trying to get a picture of what it is like to live there and homeschool there. Obviously, humidity is a concern but I would love any information you have!
  20. Thank you all so much, it really helps! Yes, it is going to be such a nice day here tomorrow--can't wait!!! We did 6 days of Disney/Universal and it was wonderful but I bet we like beach day best. 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴
  21. We are in Florida on vacation and are "planning" to go to the beach tomorrow. I thought I would just look up beaches and find one but it isn't working out quite that way! What is a good beach to visit? FYI, we are technically in Kissimmee but want to go to Tampa for the beach so maybe something closer that way.
  22. Hi all, We are going to Disney World very soon and I have issues about Fast Passes. I don't know what rides we want to go on! I don't know what is popular! I don't know where stuff is so how can I know when I want to go on what ride? No, I don't want to look at maps, study each ride and educate myself on which rides are most popular. Why does is have to be so much work? Can't we just get in line for one we want to go on and if the line is super long, sign up for a later time to go on it? Is that the same thing as a Fast Pass or is that something else? There is already so much planning for all of this and I have been pretty good so far but the Fast Pass thing is just setting me over the edge a bit!
  23. We have been watching the show with the Property Brothers, I think it is Buying and Selling. The show is so formulaic it is always the same 10k for the fix up to be done in two weeks but every time the people act so surprised that it will be 10k and it is going to take two weeks. Haven't they watched the show before?! Duh! Methinks it may be scripted. (Shhh, I know it actually is). But we like that show anyway. Also, they do like 25k worth of work for 10k so I wish they would quit whining! Oh and we just recently spent almost two years living in the midst of a remodel (the gut to the studs kind). It was pretty hard at times and I never want to do it again but the people on there are so wimpy, they fall apart when they are remodeling for two weeks. I do kind of wish they would mix things up a bit.
