ThatCyndiGirl
I thought that I read a thread here about how to speed up your period (make it not last as long?) or to reduce bleeding? Does anyone remember that? My dh is returning this week and it will just be the wrong time to punctuate, iykwim. :001_huh: I'm not on the pill or I would have skipped the placebo week. I'm willing to do (just about) anything!! TIA~ I've looked and looked for the thread and can't find it.
Melissa in Australia
would love to know. I have heard lots of exercise and a hot bath help it start when running late, not that that helps you! I would love to know if there is a way to slow it down a little as well!
Hathersage
I found reusable pads really reduced the time period of my period.
EKS
Isn't this what the morning after pill does?
Melissa in Australia
Apparently some people have found doing lots of sit-ups help speed it up. I have never tried it.
ThatCyndiGirl
Isn't this what the morning after pill does? YIKES! I don't think so. We gave it to rape victims and it causes a RUSH of nasty side effects, from what they said.
ThatCyndiGirl
I found reusable pads really reduced the time period of my period. I've used every manner of product and the type of product had no effect on amount of bleeding/time it took to stop.
joannqn
I've never heard of any way of getting your cycle to start earlier other than stopping birth control pills mid-cycle. However, I do know that ibuprofen reduces flow. I have a very heavy cycle and take it to reduce my flow. It works. I don't know if normal dosages work because I take 800mg at a time usually. starwarsmomma
I developed an allergy to the store bought pads/tampons -- something they are using makes me break out in hives, yet no soaps or scents normall yaffect me.... weird. Anyway, I switched to fabric/reusable pads about 2 years ago and it hasn't affected the amount or time on me. Wish it did!

Excelsior! Academy
Cayenne pepper. Just a tablespoon or two. To make it more palettable float it in water and chug it quickly. I have never personally tried this, but I have heard from several women and a midwife that it works. It is worth a try. http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4925036_cayenne-pepper-stop-bleeding.html Edited January 2, 2012 by Excelsior! KidsHappen
If you started a BCP now it could postpone or lighten your period in a week.

Liza Lee
I've used every manner of product and the type of product had no effect on amount of bleeding/time it took to stop. I don't have periods any longer, but my daughters use chlorine-free pads and it seems to make their periods shorter and they have fewer cramps. I switched several years ago without telling them why and one daughter told me that she liked the new brand better. That daughter is really sensitive to all kinds of chemicals, so it may be different for different individuals.
SailorMom
Parsley tea. It works. It will only change it about a day a month, though. I had to move things around for a cruise last year, but started six months before and was able to move it by over a week. Anyway - you just brew fresh parsley into a strong, hot tea and drink a LOT of it -all day - for days. It is an anti-emetic and is "old fashioned", but works.
