obsidian
Does anyone know of some nice introductory books that covers the basics of Catholicsm? Preferably 300 pages or less. Oh, and I would also be interested in the same type of book for Eastern Orthodoxy and the Lutheran Church. Thank you!:001_smile: ETA: I know there were some in the thread, but I am looking for something a little shorter.

Parrothead
You may find this one helpful. The catechism is available on line for free. If you are interested, this CD is good. I just love Fr. Richard's talks.
4wildberrys
'Where is THAT in the Bible?' http://www.amazon.com/Where-That-Bible-Patrick-Madrid/dp/0879736933/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307304007&sr=8-1 gives Biblical reasonings behind what we do too. Great for defending to the sola scriptura crowd...

Vida Winter
My RCIA class used this concise catechism which uses a Q&A format: http://www.amazon.com/Life-Christ-Catholic-Catechism-Adults/dp/0879461055/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1307310252&sr=1-
Alenee
I just finished reading Becoming Orthodox by Peter E. Gillquist and am now reading Discovering the Rich Heritage of Orthodoxy by Charles Bell. Easy reads.

For online reading: Discovering The Orthodox Church (several articles in different categories); easy to read and very informative. We also have an active Exploring Orthodox Christianity social group here at WTM. The best way to learn about Orthodoxy, attend some services. :001_smile: Hope that's helpful. About two years ago at this time, we were reading many of the books listed above. May you find the fullness of God on your journey.

oraetstudia
I highly recommend Four Witnesses: The Early Church in Her Own Words by Rod Bennett. Catholicism and Fundamentalism by Karl Keating might be of interest to some.
AimeeM
We are Catholic. As a supplement for her religious education we use these wonderful flash cards called Friendly Defenders. They contain common questions from protestants and the Catholic retort :o)
TracyR
You can also go to http://www.catholic.com and find lots of reading material on there as well for Catholicism. Also http://www.catholicscomehome.org I think this website is excellent and really helps with answering questions and learning more on Catholicism.
