Amazing Color Photos from 100 Years Ago

Recommended Posts

The strange thing is that many of those photos could have been taken today as in many areas of Russia the only changes you would see are some power lines and the ghastly Soviet apartments. Older parts of towns that avoided the "concrete monstrosity" still look very much like the photos depict.

These look like they were taken yesterday, but they are over 100 years old. It's really a fascinating look into the past, almost magical.

Wow, I was prepared to be underwhelmed, but those are stunning. I especially love #3, because my grandfather and great-grandfather were very talented iron molders and would have used equipment not unlike that shown.

That's the same thought I had. I've never been to Russia, but the countryside in 1990 Czechoslovakia didn't look much different than some of these pictures. At first I was wondering if these were fakes, and I started looking for cars in the villages or some other sign that they were more recent photographs.
