Cricket
This was on her Facebook page this morning: Confirmed: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels (the book, not the blog) was optioned by Sony/Columbia Pictures. Think Green Acres meets Harlequin Romance meets Forest Gump. My only demand was that my brother Mike play himself! I'm still waiting to hear back on that one... That's so cool how all this has worked out for her.

hornblower
Neat! But doesn't necessarily mean a movie is coming out anytime soon. I know several people with optioned books & nothing is happening. It can be a slow business.....
milovany
Well, that's a little bigger than what I thought you were going to say (that she's coming to the Northwest in April! Which she is .... ). LOL.
4kiddies
Good for her! Julianne Moore should play her....MM should be Richard Gere.

Dawn in OH
I just saw an article posted on a friend's Facebook page about Reese Witherspoon starring in the movie. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2010/03/pioneer-woman-blog-turns-into-reese-witherspoon-movie/1 Oops! It's the same link 4kiddies already posted! Edited March 18, 2010 by Dawn in OH Oops! It's the same link 4kiddies already posted!

I think Reese Witherspoon would be great!
Cricket
Wow! Who do you think should play Ree? MM? Paul Walker? There aren't too many blonde actors! Daniel Craig looks a little more like MM but just seems to old to pair with Reese Witherspoon. I really have to stop searching the web and get some work done.
catalinakel
Harrick Connick Jr. would be my choice for MM. man, that Ree has some luck..her story will make a great movie. Can't wait!
Heather in WI
Oh, how wonderful for Ree! You know, the first person I thought of to play her was Reese Witherspoon?!?!?! How funny! MM is harder to pick, though. We need a studly, manly-man .... not too effeminate (John Krasinski) , nor too burly (Russell Crowe). Hmmmmnnn..... Heather in OK
Cool! Gerard Butler gets my vote. But then again, I'd be perfectly happy if he starred in ever movie made. :tongue_smilie:
milovany
Cool! Gerard Butler gets my vote. When I first read this I thought you meant a different Gerard and I thought, "WHAT?!" Not only can I not imagine it looks/build wise, I'm pretty sure MM doesn't have a French accent. :D
FairProspects
I thought Josh Harris and Reese Witherspoon were smokin' in Sweet Home Alabama. I'd definitely watch them team up again on this one.
melissel
No WAY!!! That is so cool for her. Gerard Butler gets my vote. But then again, I'd be perfectly happy if he starred in ever movie made. :tongue_smilie: I love Reese Witherspoon, and I'd love either of these guys as MM. 3littlekeets
Oh how fun! I only hope they don't call Mike her "retarded brother." I really wish she'd consider how hurtful that label is to so many. I've emailed her about the use of that dated label. Even though it is painful or hurtful to her or Mike, it is to many and would be very damaging to go BIG SCREEN, especially as Special Olympic and so many groups have worked to ban that word b/c so many use it pejoratively~. ~~~~~~BRAVO to her for insisting he play himself! I love seeing actors with disabilities playing themselves or playing roles for actors with disabilities!!! ~~~
AnneGabe
I'm excited about the idea of a movie based on Pioneer Woman. I love the story of how she met and married Marlboro Man. When I first heard Reese Witherspoon I didn't know how I liked that but within five seconds realized she'd be perfect! lol
LaissezFaire
Wow that is pretty cool. A lot of books get optioned dozens of times and never get off the ground so we will see what happens with it...
Rhonda in TX
With the way Hollywood makes books into movies, I think I'd be scared. I hope it turns out well. They do have a cute story.
Cricket
Cool! Gerard Butler gets my vote. But then again, I'd be perfectly happy if he starred in ever movie made. :tongue_smilie: I thought of him too.
