keptwoman
For a single 30yo male. Lives alone. Enjoys cooking but I suspect won't be interested in anything too complicated. I think anything that involves cream of anything soup would entail the book being shut and not opened again. So basically simple food using fresh ingredients that tastes good. He's a stylish guy. I'm asking you guys because he is living in the US so a book with US ingredients is probably a good idea.
4kiddies
I think Rachael Ray would fit the bill. Easy, everyday recipies.
Pippen
Does he like to grill out? I have Barbeque Bible Sauces, Rubs and Marinaged and really like it. Some recipes (ie some meat rubs) take quite a few ingredients but they're really simple to do.

Mrs Mungo
I agree with the Everyday Food cookbook or an Alton Brown cookbook. I think the Pioneer Woman cookbook is too girly for a guy (it's intermixed with bits of love story and such, I like it but I wouldn't buy it for a guy). Rachel Ray is not for everyone. I've narrowed it down to 3; The Art of Simple Food Everyday Food Alton Brown. I'll let DH take a look and choose from a mans perspective. asta
Anything from the Moosewood Collective, or the New Laurel's Kitchen. Both have hearty, easy food that appeals to both men and women (probably because both were written by both men and women). a
