  1. I have a lump right in the center of the palm of my hand. I think it's a cyst but not sure. I use my palm for lifting weights (lots of push motions with pressure) and leaning on the handlebars of my spin bike daily - could it be caused by that? I've been lifting weights and spinning for years and this has never happened before.
  2. Ds1 is going with a bunch of friends this weekend for a bachelor/bachelorette party. I think they will be okay in a big group? I didn't realize there was so much crime there.
  3. That's exactly what we are experiencing. Next door, where the neighbor died, the wife now has a service come. They are super loud but they get in and out and are done once a week in the summer. The guy across the street starts and stops his equipment so it's start/stop/start/stop constantly. And our neighbor on the other side is always finding some huge yard project to do - sometimes involving heavy equipment so it's loud in the summer. And he also shoots guns and has people over for target practice frequently (we have miles of protected wetlands behind us). So, if it's not equipment, it's gunshots. Still better than when our elderly neighbor was alive and he'd just spend day after day outside running his lawn equipment. But I just wanted to say I understand both issues - the property line and the noise. Both are stressful. And it's horrible being in your own home and not be able to escape the noise. I'm sorry.
  4. Many of our neighbors are really bad about this but one in particular was terrible. It felt like we were living in an industrial zone with machinery going on all the time. We could never open our windows and could still hear it going even with the windows shut. But the worst neighbor was elderly and he died several years ago. While I was very sad that he died, the reduction in noise was quite a relief. It's still ridiculously noisy here (and we live in a very wooded area with houses pretty far apart - we have over three acres) but it's still better than it was. @Harriet Vane we have problems on one side where the neighbors don't know where the property lines are or they don't care. The last neighbor actually took something from our back yard and displayed it in his front yard! The current one who moved into that house dumps stuff in our back yard. Drives poor DH crazy - he's very territorial. We have plenty of land and it doesn't bother me as much. But he would lose his mind over someone weed whacking our property. I'm sorry you have to deal with that.
  5. I don't have an answer for you but I just wanted to say that I'm sorry that that you've just had one thing after another! Hope you come up with a solution that you are content with. ❤️
  6. That is beyond disgusting (first paragraph). It wouldn't even occur to me to bring my pet inside a grocery store. I'd feel like you - "wow, Walmart is right here and it would be so convenient if I could grab some stuff." But it wouldn't be an option if I had a pet with me.
  7. lol, me too! Hard to pass up a good deal!
  8. This is so touching. I'm in tears. Big hugs to you on your mom's first heavenly birthday.
  9. Do you know of another source to get information about local cases/hospitalizations?
  10. I think it also depends on personality. Ds1 has always been the worst about this while I really haven't had issues with my two younger ones. My Aspie is a different story. 😛
  11. ugh, I'm sorry @stephanier.1765 Hope everyone is better soon. 😞
  12. I hope she's better soon too. ❤️
  13. I agree that what you wrote is perfect. What a horrible tragedy. 😞
  14. The only way I could do it was using a U-shaped nursing pillow. I couldn't do it without that and used it all the time.

My friend's dd is home from college and passed out at work. My friend took her to the ER and they found UTI and put her on antibiotics. I didn't know that was a symptom of UTI until then. I don't know if she was experiencing problems before then. Hope you feel better soon.
  16. No, he's been wanting to retire anyway and hasn't because of insurance. He has always been passive about his career and stayed at his last two jobs way longer than he should have just to avoid the hassle of trying to switch. Part of the reason has been not wanting to move - esp. when the kids were younger. My older two kids have definitely found it very profitable to job hop but they are also in life situations where it's easy (and fun) to move if needed.
  17. My DH is a software engineer. Ds2 is an electrical engineer who makes almost as much as DH but he can't work remotely. My youngest is interning remotely as a software engineer this summer and will do so next year as well. Ds1 works in cybersecurity and said that his company plan on employees coming back to the office part-time in a few weeks but they will be very flexible or they will lose people since so many companies allow people to be fully remote. He makes a ridiculous amount of money - probably twice what my DH makes. ETA - all three of my kids who are working full-time also have way better benefits than DH.
  18. My DH has worked for his company for 13 years now. No raise ever. No increase in benefits ever. Lousy insurance. When he took the job, we thought it was worth the financial sacrifice because it is a remote position and it was priceless having him home with the kids (and helping me out with all the driving). Now the kids are grown and working remotely is so common so he's pretty bitter about his lack of compensation.
  19. I'm sorry! I hope you feel better soon and that no one else gets it. The stress of worrying about everyone else while being sick yourself really stinks. 😞
  20. I hate phones too. I schedule all of my dentist appointments by email and am able to schedule some doctor appts. online. So much better! I have to go to the dentist on Thursday after chipping a molar over the weekend. This is the first time I've needed dental work done in so long and I'm really nervous. I definitely have a fear of the dentist.
  21. I do wonder what the police would have done if I didn't answer the door. What if I had been in the shower or went for a walk or to the store?
  22. I hung up because the woman on the phone couldn't hear me at all. I could hear her but she never heard me. She kept repeating, "can you hear me? Is anyone there?" and I eventually gave up after trying and trying. When the woman from the county health services called I told her I didn't have privacy to talk anymore but that I was safe with no plans to hurt myself. I never gave any indication that I was not in a safe place mentally.
  23. @heartlikealion it was a landline. They knew DH's name immediately on the call.
