  1. She has a couple videos on preserving lemons if you search the channel. I remember watching one a while back but am not sure which. I thought she somehow canned whole lemons. I have frozen lemon curd and it turns out well. I also zest and freeze zest. And have only frozen juice not whole lemons.
  2. I watched many YouTube tutorials and learned that if I completely cover the dark circle, it will make my eyes look smaller, require more product and get cakey and overall look unnatural. I don't want to have foundation so this tiny bit can blend into my skin, just trying to cancel/brighten the circles. I used a cotton swab. I should probably buy some makeup specific tool, but used a swab to dot about 5 or 6 dots around eye. I bought the palette because I wasn't sure what color would correct. I feel they are purple which should need yellow but the peach covers better so I'm glad I have options. Trying to blend with my finger did not work as well as the little brush. It blended best when brushing away from my eye not up into eye. It doesn't cover, just minimizes. I don't have bags yet but there were interesting methods to minimize those as well.
  3. I bought This. It's the not the miracle I was hoping and I realized after using too much that I do have lines around my eyes and I shouldn't use too much because it makes them noticeable... never noticed before. So, I have been just dotting some of the peach and yellow in the corner and just a bit on the lowest part of dark circle, then I brush it in with the tiny brush I also ordered. It brightens a bit and doesn't look like I'm wearing anything so I'm happy. Today was day 2 of trying it.
  4. I made healthier granola today. Used 3 egg whites and 1/4 c maple syrup with 2 c oats, 1 c oat bran, and 2 c nuts. No oil, except sprayed the pan with canola spray. And no other sugars, just cinnamon salt and vanilla. It's nice and crispy. The kids think it is bland but that's good because it's my treat.
  5. Yes good descriptions and interesting enough to want to finish. But I can't believe she would publish such personal content. Her mother dying made me cry.
  6. I read Wild last week because you'd posted about it. I liked the descriptions of the changes in landscapes. It's also a movie. Did you see the movie? The book had a bit of bad language, sexual content and drug use. I tried to skip those. The librarian actually warned me since I had done a hold request through my dd's card and she was concerned dd would read it. So FYI, moms. I have always wanted to do a longer backpacking trip. Dh has done 2-3 week trips. I've not done more than a couple days. However, I hate wet tents. And backpacking for months especially through that country sounds like lots of wet tents. And ticks are bad in OR, I think. She didn't mention bugs at all, no flies or mosquitoes. I'm glad I didn't read that when I was in college because I would have probably tried it and been killed by a serial killer.
  7. I lost 4lb in the last month. I'm doing a really good job exercisimg due to the med scare though the nurse practitioner said my numbers could have been thrown off by the week of sickness, Gatorade, and carbs with the stomach bug about a week before my blood test. And also the month of Christmas. So hopefully that contributed but still enough fire to keep me more consistent and do harder workouts. I got new shoes too. First time for Hokas. I'm liking them.
  8. I have flax seeds in the freezer. I'll start adding it to my breakfast.
  9. I've been watching makeup youtube videos. I'm going to try getting a color corrector for under eyes. I don't think I can wear full face of makeup.
  10. My A1c was the lowest number for pre-diabetes. I think it was 5.7. I've been overall avoiding carbs and sugar, though at Christmas I indulged some. This is a 3 month measurement. I've been exercising most days. I have about 8-10 lbs to lose that is fat on belly and thighs. Maybe the high A1c is because of the excess weight? I don't know but I'm going to try harder to lose the weight. I've mostly been doing strength training but going to do more cardio. Also, I was really sick the weekend before the test and recovery foods were all starches and sugar. Could that have thrown off the test? My Dr hasn't called yet. I just saw results on the portal. I didn't do vitamin d test because insurance wouldn't cover it and it was expensive. I'm going to start taking coq10 because it's supposed to help with peri-menopausal symptoms (if that's what's going on) as well as a1c. My cholesterol was slightly high and A1c should help that too. Just trying to figure out when to take A1c. I take multi vitamin at breakfast and calcium/vit d at dinner so maybe should take coq10 at lunch?
  11. Hmm. My mom had said to put on moisturizer first, which I did for dd. However, I moisturized my face in the morning then tried the makeup in the evening so maybe I should have moisturized again? Or maybe I put it on too thick? I didn't like the stickiness and it was horrible to try to wash off. I've never worn foundation. If I'm horribly pale, I'll sometimes wear a little blush and about once a year for a Christmas party, I wear blush and dry powder.
  12. Some days may not start well. Some days, you may try to drop the HOT tea bag in the trash but you miss, and it falls on your bare toes. My momma didn't tell me there would be days like this.
  13. My mom loaned me the makeup for dd because she was having a skin flare up and not happy she had to be with a lot of people. I thought I'd try it while I had it in possession.
