  1. And if it turns out that the IM history can be erased, there's always http://www.spectorsoft.com
  2. I've been making stuff from scratch to save money at the store, too. Last night I made a pineapple upside down cake! Tomorrow I am going to make a pumpkin spice cake. It's gotta be better for us than processed. :) I'm plugging my ears and covering my eyes in case someone disagrees with my last sentence. :)
  3. Thank you so much! Now for a really dumb question...How do I find the 11/5 list? Sorry to ask. :)
  4. My mom and husband went to real estate school. School isn't so difficult, but the final exam is. Have you considered being a police dispatcher in your city? They train you as you go, and the starting pay is pretty okay. Just thought I'd throw that out there. :)
  5. May I join your prayer group? We have a house for sale in Texas. My children and I are, thankfully, with my Dh instead of house-sitting. The house has been on the market for 66 days. Thank you...now I'm off to re-read the prayer list. :)
  6. Happy Birthday! My first reaction when I saw your birthday cake was...Awwww, how sweet. :)
  7. Congratulations on the new addition to your family! I'm glad to hear that you and the baby are doing well. :)
  8. My family is weird about inherited money, too. Nine years ago my dad called me to ask for my social security number and such. He said that my grandfather had made it a point to put aside money for each of us grandkids and then have the spouse of *his* children sign an agreement that they would not touch or try to get that money. I didn't know this until my father told me. We'd been out of touch until my step-mother died the year before he called me for this information, but had happily gotten involved in each others' lives again. My grandfather passed away three years ago. My dad told me and my sister that there really wasn't any money other than $1000 for each of us. I know that this summer he received the final installment on the inheritance from my uncle. But he's keeping it. My mom shared that he had once told her that the inheritance was $30,000 for each of us. They both deny what they've each told me and asked me. (My parents got back together a couple of years ago). Oh well. Can't count chickens until they hatch...and survive a few months. I hope you get the information you would like to have and am sorry for your loss. Hugs... :)
  9. ABSOLUTELY not. I loathed it and wondered what my problem was. What's the big deal about it, anyway. :) From one who LOVES and ADORES Winn Dixie.
  10. Try a google search for: pullman pan or chicago metallic pain de mie or pain de mie, pan :)
  11. Haba toys and play food. Erzi play food. Ostheimer figures... http://www.thewoodenwagon.com/ostheimer-figures.html I'd probably have him look for a birthday ring... http://www.thewoodenwagon.com/c-birthday-ring.html Wooden vehicles... http://thewoodenwagon.com/c-201.html Anything Spiel and Holz... http://thewoodenwagon.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=203 I would have him look for Kinderkram mobiles and Kathy Kruse items. I would definitely want a real cuckoo clock. Have fun choosing! :) Edited to add: http://www.moolka.com/jzv/search?c1=409
  12. Well, our vet told me that it is better to have a cat declawed than to see it taken to a shelter and put to sleep. He said that when a cat uses its claws to tear up furniture or people, it makes the owners dislike the cat which can lead to the cat being taken to a shelter. Better to declaw a cat and keep it in a loving home, than to end up disliking it so that you want to get rid of it. He only did front claws. Our cat is fine. In fact, she was two years old when she was declawed. She learned to scratch up furniture from a new kitten we were cat-sitting. That's when we took her in to be declawed. She was *more* loving after having her front claws removed and she was pretty lovey to begin with. She goes outside all the time and is just fine. She's seven years old now.
  13. She would have stomach pain every day! It hit at all times and interrupted our lives a great deal. I thought maybe it was stress, but after a couple of weeks of not having her do chores...it was still happening. She started the Topomax a couple of months ago. She is 10 and 1/2. I mentioned abdominal migraines to her pediatric d.o. and he did some research and put her on a medication that is usually used for people who are anorexic. We tried it and it didn't work. Then we talked about her age and the history of migraine in my family. He decided to go ahead and treat her with Topomax instead of the liquid medication for anorexia. After the Topomax built up in her system, she stopped having stomach pain and headaches. I figured that any side effects from the Topomax were worth the quality of life she would have without suffering from daily pain. For the under 10 set, it's a different medication plan. Probably that liquid medication that I cannot remember the name of... Hth...and so terribly sorry your little is suffering. ETA: yes to nausea...no to vomiting.
  14. My daughter is taking Topomax for migraines. She takes one pill daily and no longer has stomach pain.
  15. I am really excited about the homeschool community in Lubbock and surrounding areas. I currently live in a city of 800,000. Last time I looked we had one support group going. It's been like that since we started homeschooling 11 years ago. Yes, some smaller groups start up, but inevitably seem to 'fold'. As for 35 to 40 being 'breezy'...well, that's breezy to me...lol :) Our wind season ended with winds of up to 65mph. We get it pretty bad at our house because we're up high...overlooking part of the city. My Dh had a phone interview yesterday and sent job and salary information yesterday. So, we'll see! :)
  16. Sharon, WOW!!! Thank you so much for such a comprehensive list of what to do and how to do it. :) I've saved it and plan to print it out tomorrow so I follow it. What a great system! Thanks again!!! :)
  17. The wind blows from March through May here and it's really, really bad. So we're used to wind. :) I know right where Quaker and 50th and Slide are...lolol. My Dh says he plans to try Daybreak Coffee as soon as he goes back. I LOVE thrift stores! Thank you! :)
  18. Thank you for sharing your experiences in Lubbock! My Dh and I read everything you wrote. :)
  19. The average yearly rainfall in Lubbock is six times what we receive where we currently live, so we're looking forward to more water. :) LOL about Southern on steroids. Thank you! :)
  20. I recently received the planner I ordered from: https://plannerpads.com/index.asp I had been looking for another ALife planner, but they're not for sale at Target in the U.S. this year. My Planner Pad (I ordered the medium size) will fit my daily school schedule, daily to do list, any appointments for the day, and my daily food and exercise log. Hth! :)
  21. I went with my hubby to Lubbock on Sunday and we stayed through Wednesday morning. We both really liked what we'd seen, and the friendliness of the people. While there, we started talking about making a move to Lubbock. We came home Wednesday afternoon. At this point, my hubby has one firm 'job' offer and one almost-firm 'job' offer. Our realtor is doing 'comps' in our area and I'm going to start packing tonight. We've already decided what furniture to sell or give away (almost all of it) and how much we want to spend on a home in Lubbock (no more than 90,000). I can't tell you how excited we are about the quickly happening possibility of moving to Lubbock. Our house here is huge and we have a large mortgage payment. We're ready to get off of the financial 'treadmill'. So...What can you tell me about Lubbock? OR moving from the city of my birth OR packing up a 3000 square foot house...lol. :)
  22. I would probably have boxes at the ready so I could just put stuff into them and then ship them home...unless you drove and can put them in your vehicle. Then I would go through the stuff at home, at my own pace. On the bright side, at least they're asking you before pitching stuff. I wish my step-mom had, or my mom's mom (in Korea) had. :)
