  1. For my 9th grade DD Outsource: Japanese at a local co-op Thankfully, at this co-op, there's no required parent involvement. Classics Book Club through Virtual Homeschool Group 6 week writing with Home2Teach With me: Algebra 1 English World History Am. Government 1 semester Formal Logic Next year: Outsource: Japanese Haven't decided about anything else This summer: Chemistry Lab intensive through Landry Academy ETA: spelling ETA 2: I forgot physics at home with me.
  2. I'm tired of paying so much for cartridges for my Cannon Inkjet printer. Where can I buy cheaper ink? Unfortunately, the cartridges can't be refilled the way my old HP printer cartridges could. My budget thanks you for any and all suggestions.
  3. :grouphug: praying for him and for you
  4. Have you checked the new schedule that's now available? I only discovered today about the changes. In our area, chemistry has been offered in the spring over a couple of years. I assumed it would be the same this year, but it's not.
  5. You guys have convinced me. I'm going to register her for the summer chemistry intensive. I'm not sure she's going to be that happy to spend time in August attending an academic program, but that's life. Then she can still attend the physics one in the spring of next year. That will be the first time physics has been offered in our area in a couple of years.
  6. When I get a bit of extra time, hopefully next week, I'm going to email the college board. Maybe we can get some answers.
  7. My daughter is studying physics with me this school year. Landry hasn't offered a physics intensive in our area for a couple of years. In the fall, she'll be studying chemistry, also with me The chemistry intensive in our area is scheduled for this summer, before she begins chemistry. A physics intensive will be offered in spring 2017. I wish the schedules were flipped, but oh well. She's good in science but doesn't especially like it. What does the hive think of her taking the chemistry intensive before she begins chemistry in the fall? I'm thinking of waiting until the following school year, but then she may have forgotten material. What's best?
  8. I hope someone has been through this. My daughter may be submitting a portfolio for 2017. I'm confused about the process.
  9. It's frustrating about the photo. I hope she gets the scholarship! Maybe a well crafted thank you letter will help.
  10. So exciting. I'm praying everything works out smoothly.
  11. I'm seeing this late, but giving thanks for his safe arrival and for a wonderful trip.
  12. I didn't know about this resource. Thank you for posting.
  13. My daughters are teens now, but I wouldn't have allowed them to attend a party on Good Friday when they were little. Now, I would probably discourage attendance, but might not forbid it.
  14. I would add "real" life skills such as budgeting, basic car care / repair, etc.
  15. For me, it depends on the child and the subject. Both my daughters are in high school now. My younger daughter struggles with math. We work through the text slowly with as much repetition as she needs. If she's having difficulty, we work through the problem together. Both my girls are strong in other subjects. I expect them to study to learn the material; grades, hopefully, will show their diligence.
  16. You are indeed an awesome mom!!
  17. It's exciting to hear a president or former president speak in person. Last year, my older daughter heard President Obama speak while she was visiting D.C. with a youth group. I was thrilled she had that experience. She thought the speech was dull, but now she's beginning to realize hearing a sitting president is special regardless.
  18. My daughter carries a small cross body bag she bought at Kohl's. I'm thinking of ordering her an insulated bag specifically for the pens, but haven't yet. If you register your Epipens at the official website, they'll send you a complimentary case or some kind. I've haven't registered hers yet, so I don't know if the free bag is insulated or not. She doesn't want to carry an insulated bag because it might be too large for the purse she likes best.
  19. :grouphug: :grouphug: Praying for him and for you.
  20. I was told once to avoid too high a credit limit if I intended to apply for a mortgage. Apparently, some mortgage companies believe people would get the house, then begin to buy on credit making it harder to pay the mortgage payment. This probably doesn't apply to high income applicants, though.
  21. If he is willing to consider working toward a degree, some colleges / universities grant credit for life experience or at least they used to do that. It's sad how many companies require a degree. Good people are too often overlooked.
  22. Praying that this situation will work out for the best for your family.
  23. Does anyone have experience with Lukeion classes and workshops? I'm considering the history classes and maybe a summer workshop, but would like to know how good they are before committing. Thanks.
  24. Is there a friend of your family or church member your son respects that could talk with him about treatment? I'm so sorry this is happening. I wish I had more suggestions, but if you don't mind I'll be praying for him and your family.
