  1. I also have a hard time telling people apart. Unless someone has really distinctive features or personality, I have to meet them 2 or 3 times before I remember who they are. Struggling right now because we moved to a new town and everyone is new! It's embarrassing and keeps me from jumping in with new people.
  2. After reading this thread I'm realizing I probably hurt people's feelings too, though I completely don't mean to. When you're an introvert, though, it's just exhausting to have that much interaction all in one shot. I can do it with family and close friends, but that's about it, and even then I'm ready to retreat to my room with a book when it's all over.
  3. I wanted to see this but it's not showing anywhere near me. Guess I'll have to wait for Netflix. However, I did watch the documentary--forget which station did it--and it was fascinating.
  4. I'm sure it's nothing personal, after all, she wants to spend time together at the aquarium. If she has other things she needs to do, she needs her own transportation. Carpooling is just not something that I personally do for long trips. No matter how much I care about someone, making small talk for that length of time is exhausting--and that's about me, not the other person. Unless I'm with family, I can't just relax enough to be myself and be fresh and fun for the main event.
  5. Lol!!!! Is it wrong to admit I caught that too???
  6. It's too bad the leotard isn't just stitched as part of the tights, or that they can't use "butt stick" like some girls do in gymnastics that sticks the leo to their bottom to avoid wedgies. Last night I couldn't help thinking how distracting it would be to get a wedgie while doing all that cool stuff.
  7. I wish we'd not started Argument Builder after AofA because it's just not clicking as well. Of course, that could be the lack of DVD and the fact I'm not at a point where I have time to hand-hold through this. All that to say, loving these suggestions.
  8. That just stinks--ruined for everyone. But I guess that's as good a reason as any.
  9. Reschedule! I really don't understand why doctor's offices don't have separate areas for well/sick visits. Ours doesn't either and it bugs me.
  10. Being overly cautious is always my first reaction, but once I think it through I climb off the ledge, grab the hand sanitizer, and get on with life. Washing, sanitizing, and not touching the face are what I'm drilling into my kids every day when I let them go to their activities. We're also taking our vitamins and sleeping, sleeping, sleeping. All that said, if you have someone in your home who is immuno-compromised, I would probably keep everyone home as much as possible.
  11. I went with the kids, not realizing it was a musical. Every time I started to get into the story, dude burst into song. LOL!!! I think I'd have enjoyed it more if I'd known going in because I really did enjoy the storyline.
  12. Personally I would watch out for creepy crawlies, even though I live north of Phoenix. To be fair, I watch for creepy crawlies all the time anyway....
  13. So glad that the one found sobriety! Sounds like a long road but worth it. That is so, so sad. This thread has been eye opening, and I don't consider myself the least bit sheltered.
  14. Twelve pack in an evening? ETA: Not trying to be judgy, I just don't know anyone who can do this...and I know people who can consume. Maybe there is more of a closet thing than I was ever aware of.
  15. I had no idea! For some reason I thought that everyone with FAS had the facial features and that was the big signifier. This is good to know.
  16. Glad for all these suggestions! The flu has my normal hypochondria kicked into high gear. Now a 2nd person at my hubby's work has gone down with it. Looking forward to April when it's mostly over.
  17. I adore Denzel! I will watch all things Denzel. As for Bosom Buddies...I totally forgot about that show! Talk about blast from the past.
  18. Why did they make everyone jump through hoops in the first place? Seems like something they should make relatively easy. ETA: LOL, just realized my comment basically copied the title of the thread. Whoops! Anyhoo, I always hated making appointments for my kids rather than just popping in like I do for myself.
  19. I think Hanks will be great! That said, I might not be the best judge since I wasn't a huge Mr. Rogers Neighborhood fan. As a kid I kept thinking, dude, hurry up and finish changing your shoes so we can get on with the show
  20. I hadn't realized that he suggested only $1000. That might be fine for a single person, but for a family with potential medical bills and house repairs and such, $1000 can be blown through rather quickly.
  21. We do tons of read alouds--we make it a point to snuggle and read after lunch (even though I have one who is not so keen on snuggling anymore, lol.) Last week we finished Peter Pan. Coming soon we have The Hiding Place. Not sure what's actually up next--I should check the schedule. Then at night we spend the last 30+ minutes of the night snuggling and reading our own thing. Of course, the same kid is weaning off that too :crying:
  22. So sorry. Friendships that end badly really, really hurt. It's too bad you didn't know about the issue until it was too late--I know the feeling. ((hugs))
