  1. Hope you feel better soon! I want to do all the things because I'm so far behind also. BUT, our daughter has her first gymnastics meet of the season, so we'll be traveling to Phoenix (through the snow GACK!) for that. Trying to remember to slow down and enjoy life instead of targeting the next thing on my to-do list. Not as easy as one would think....
  2. Just got mine last week. LOL, I'm SO not a cook and I'm not familiar with kitchen gadgets so it was a little scary the first time. But MAN...my steamed veggies came out fast and perfect.
  3. Every time I think about how I get to stay home with the kids, I'm so, so thankful. It could change going forward---I pray not---but for now I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be with them, educate them, and just hang out with the cool kids :coolgleamA:
  4. Crap, that's a LOT of socks. LOL!!! Must be a relief.....
  5. This is exactly what I was going to say. Don't get rid of the gifts now, because if for some reason they do get back together, you don't want to not have a gift ready. Hope it all works out!
  6. Good morning! Still just wiping the crusties out of my eyes sooo....done? Literally nothing except getting coffee into mug without spilling. (I think.) To do: school finish freelance article on solar energy email judges for a contest (up to 70 or so separate emails. Yikes!) figure out how to use my Instant Pot cleaning...from the looks of our home there should be some cleaning involved
  7. Oh my crapness.....so JEALOUS! Ok, you're motivating me. I really need to just get out there and make it happen, and also not leave all the wrapping for the night before Christmas.
  8. WSS^^^ I've found that when I load a GC and make it my default, it comes right out of there. In any case, yay for a Kindle GC. I would choose a GC for books over almost anything.....
  9. LOL, glad I'm not the only one who didn't understand it! I'm often the last to know....
  10. Oh, crap. I hate cooking but now you all made me want one! $68 feels steep to me (for our budget) but man......
  11. That is sad :crying: Given the issues that the other girl is dealing with, is there any chance this is a phase that will pass? All the best to your daughter. Watching our kids hurt is so, so hard.
  12. I agree with the PP's who suggested checking in with your doc. My need for readers happened so slowly that I didn't notice until I had a regular eye appt (I'm seriously nearsighted.) That said, I was 43 when it happened, and that's about average, I think.
  13. I don't know, but it sure sounds naughty! JK....I'm guessing it's boat, but I'm from landlocked AZ so it's a crapshoot.
  14. Oh, wow.....you think you have answers but it leads to more questions. When one of our family members passed several years ago, I wondered if she was actually dead before they declared her dead, or if she was dead when her heart stopped beating. So hard to know, and heartbreaking either way.
  15. I'm addicted to smileys too :D On a related note...I wonder why all the smileys sent to me by my friend with an iPad show up as an oddly shaped J ?
  16. I think it's great if one can stand up and say, "Hey, I'm a SAHM and proud of what I do"....depending on the context. In general, yes! But if you're caught off guard, and depending on the person you're talking to and whether or not it might damage the relationship, it might be better to think it over.
  17. What Sparkly Unicorn said is right...there are enough loopholes and costs not counted towards OOP maximum that your REAL out of pocket max could be significantly higher. Just like so many costs don't actually count toward your deductible. Also keep in mind that serious illnesses last multiple years. Let's say you meet your deductible and oop max one year, you might still need continuing medical care and treatments again starting in January.
  18. Ours was too. But sadly our deductible went up and the coverage went down. It used to be that with or catastrophic plan we would be covered at 100% once our deductible was met, now only 80%. If you have a catastrophic medical condition like our son-on-law had, picking up that 20% equates to financial ruin.
  19. Oh, man! So sorry! That just sucks, and even though she's older and it's good to give grace, I hate hearing SAHM/homeschooling moms devalued. People have no clue how much you do and how much value you are providing to your kids. Keep on truckin', mama. You're so much more than what you're being credited. And kudos to you for simply not saying anything and reacting out of hurt.
  20. They---whoever THEY may be---should be embarrassed to even print those high premium/high deductibles. Who the crap do they think can reasonably afford that? Anyhoo, it stinks that people are in this situation. But man, insurance is so necessary. Even though we will hopefully never meet our deductible, insurance at least negotiates down the cost of care so that the part we are left to pay is less than someone who has to pay OOP. We are now a reasonably healthy family, but a few weeks ago our middle daughter had to go to the ER to get something removed from her eye. Still waiting for---and dreading---the bill.
  21. It probably depends on what this particular group is interested in. We love getting games for our friends, mostly silly/fun ones like a drinking Jenga game, or charades. Maybe a date-night gift, or novelty kitchen accessories. Maybe a gift basket with little condiments and sampler drinks with candles and fun soaps. I'm a big fan of gift baskets.
  22. A new challenge might be a great way to get your whole self engaged!
  23. Oh, man! I can't even fathom this. I'm interested in so stinking many things and sad that I don't have time for them all. Hoping I live long enough to enjoy everything
  24. I was SO sad when I heard this. It's like she was America's mom.
