  1. I am so happy for you!! You just reminded me to be thankful for the generosity of good Christian friends. I hope you are able to enjoy cooking for many years to come with it. :-)
  2. We have small trees in the bedrooms, one in the living and room, and usually one in the dining room. I don't think we are show-offy at all.
  3. You and I are very much alike!! I do like the Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol, though. The Muppet's version is my favorite. I also like Jingle All the Way and A Christmas Story. Last year my youngest son got his Red Rider BB gun, so A Christmas Story was watched no less than 10,000 times.
  4. I fold undies. Certain sheets do get ironed, especially if they are not put on the bed right after they finish drying. I don't like sleeping on wrinkles and my snobby son (that has easily wrinkled sheets) doesn't, either.
  5. I like bananas instead of pineapple. But for some reason the little colored marshmallows are wonderful in it. I don't usually like marshmallows. But they are wonderful in lime jello.
  6. I like this one. I put a small pan of ice cubes (or just water) on the bottom rack of the oven while the pizza is cooking. I like using pizza crust yeast when I can find it, but usually I just use plain yeast. It seems firmer when we have the pizza yeast.
  7. Personally, I think the trifles look amazing, but if I were doing this for my husband or son (the red velvet lovers in my house) I would go with the cheesecake. As a matter of fact, I might do this for Thanksgiving. I have been trying to decide what to cook for the ones who do not like German Chocolate Cake, since I have had a request for that one.
  8. I'd be cold if my thermostat was set at 68, too. My eight year old is always cold. He sleeps in two pairs of pants, socks and sometimes a robe.
  9. We have been enjoying Quantum Leap and the Wonder Years lately. Quantum Leap has a few parts here and there that are super clean. So far there has not been one that was bad enough for us to turn it off.
  10. Mostly no bra during the night. But... if hubby is working night shift I go to bed armored just in case. Wouldn't want a robber to see my booKs. :tongue_smilie:
  11. I used to like the idea of bringing it to the table and carving it up right there like you seen in movies. My husband doesn't like to carve. My kids think that after smelling all that goodness cook, they can dig in as soon as they sit down. So now I carve while the dressing and rolls are finishing up cooking and everyone is thankful. :-)
  12. I love that. We have a station that does that. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. But then I listen to Christmas music all year.
  13. My husband was thinking was thinking of applying for a CSX freight conductor job. It would require us to move almost 600 miles away. After reading some of the details on the website I am not sure it is worth it. How long do people usually spend being on call 24/7? How long typically before they are not working mostly nights and weekends? One of the perks moving there for us was going to be a church that we would like to join. If he works every weekend, we would not be able to.
  14. We watched Secret of Moonacre last night and my two younger boys (8 & 10) loved it. Mr. Bean is very funny. They have the real version and the animated version both available. The Wonder Years has recently been added. Can't go wrong with a little Kevin, Winnie and Paul.
  15. We stayed at a cabin in Sevierville (very close to all the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge stuff) called Hidden Mountain Resort The prices were not bad and the cabin was wonderful! We were far enough away from downtown that we didn't hear any traffic sounds during the night, but only a few minutes away from everywhere we wanted to go. I would recommend them to anyone.
  16. I wondered if maybe they might do a fairy tale per season. Otherwise I can't see it going beyond one season.
  17. We have only been wanting this to happen since Brisinger came out!!
  18. I call him so much stuff that when one day when I called him Mark-his real name- he asked if I was mad at him. Most of the time I call him Sweetheart or Love or Sweet Baboo. I call him Dad a lot, but once I did that in public when we did not have the kids with us. :blushing: We have been watching a lot of Jane Austen movies (and other movies set in that time). So we have been calling each other Mr. and Mrs. Gilliland.
  19. I don't wear shoes unless I absolutely have to. I wear comfy clothes and a bra. No make up on most days.
  20. I do not drink. No particular reason other than I am goofy enough without being under the influence. My husband does not drink because he is too cheap to buy wine or what ever.
  21. Our local high school issues ipads to all students in ninth grade. Upon graduation they are allowed to keep them.
  22. My song of the day is bouncing between (which it has been today) and by Darius Rucker. (who will forever be Hootie to me, despite turning to the "Dark Side" of music.)
  23. This was on the local (Alabama) news recently. There are people looking for jobs who are willing to take them. When you go to the Employment Agency, agriculture jobs are not usually listed. It is not just a case of people being lazy, thinking they are too good, or not wanting to give up their welfare. Unless you know a farmer, it is very hard to find these jobs. For the record, I grew up on a farm. I had to do the work and didn't get paid. It wasn't fun. If I were in a position where my family needed money and harvesting was available, you bet I'd do it.
  24. Mexican Rice Black Beans Pinto Beans- this one is kind of spicy.
