  1. Is there a specific email address to use when sending the pictures to Office Max, or a link to info on how to order prints? I can't seem to find out how to do it on their site.
  2. Here's mine. I love capturing the fun times my kids have with my sisters when we visit. :)
  3. Amazing! I'm not the only one with a boy who does this! (Except mine's almost 6.:glare:) It seems like I am constantly telling him to "Stop humming!" He might stop - for a minute (or less) - and then he's right back at it. I'm glad he loves music, but... Sorry I'm not much help :tongue_smilie:- just wanted to say you're not alone. :)
  4. Here's ours! We found another lovely park in our area this summer, and have enjoyed walking the trails there.
  5. Thanks for posting! I'd seen the Chopin and Mozart books in other places, but I didn't know about the others. Edward MacDowell - wow!
  6. Here's mine - a couple of funny birthday pics of little ds, who will be 3 in a few weeks (I'm feeling a little sentimental:)).
  7. Count me as another one who has enjoyed our SL years, but is ready to give TOG a try - we actually just finished our second "full" week(geography and hands-on need a little more attention, but we'll get there:)). SL was a great fit for dd, and I plan to continue to incorporate many of their books into TOG. But I coudn't see doing 2 or more Cores past Core 3/K and I could see I would have to tweak quite a bit later on. I actually went ahead and bought SL 3 and will use many of the books and save some, like The Witch of Blackbird Pond, for our next history go around (I wanted that Heirloom membership:D). It has been quite easy (so far) to incorporate the SL books - though I imagine that it might not work so well in later levels. I may neet an SL "book basket" for extra reading then. But I am enjoying the flexiblity of TOG. Dd is doing a combo of LG and UG, and I'm just doing 1 or 2 history related read-alouds each week with ds5 at this point. It was neat to hear dd and ds discussing Pocahontas today of their own accord - they had read/listened to different books about her, but still had learned the same basic things. :) That probably would not have happened if they were studying two different times in history. So all this to say that I think it is quite possible to use the TOG plan and still enjoy many of the wonderful SL books. :)
  8. My settings are supposed to allow "normal visitors", so I don't know why it is doing this. Sorry - I'm very new to this!:tongue_smilie:
  9. My first Wordless Wednesday and first blog post! My dd enjoying a beautiful afternoon along the Bay of Fundy during our recent vacation.
  10. Simply Charlotte Mason is popular - for good reason, I think!:)
  11. I've enjoyed several of the resources from www.simplycharlottemason.com The Early Years and Laying Down the Rails are espcailly pertinent to the preschool years. I recommend reading her original writings, too, if you haven't already - some of what she actually wrote is quite different from some curriculm I've seen that claim to be follow her ideas. You don't have to rigidly follow all her ideas if you don't agree with them, but it's good to know what she actually said. :) I recommend these editions http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dus-stripbooks-tree&field-keywords=%22Charlotte+Mason%22+Wilder as they are much easier to read than the set I originally purchased. :) HTH!
  12. :lurk5: We are doing Grammer Island (which dd asks for!) and have used WWE off and on - it doesn't seem the best fit for us. I see several people use and enjoy both MCT and Bravewriter, so I'm very interested. :D
  13. I posted because sometimes on these boards, the focus is so much on rigor and acheivement and rarely is the important stuff like maintaining peace and caring for our homes included in the equation of choosing something to use. If we're so focused on the organization of school with a certain curricula that it ends up consuming time needed to care for a family, how great is it really??? Thanks for saying this. I needed it. :)
  14. Here's a link from Rainbow Resource that might help: http://www.rainbowresource.com/prodlist.php?sid=1269051283-1726162&subject=14&category=1308 Paul Dowswell is listed as the author of the Second World War book. Here's another link to a different book by Dowswell: http://www.rainbowresource.com/product/War+Stories%3A+True+Stories+from+the+First+and+Second+World+Wars/042294/1269051283-1726162 HTH!
  15. I know we (my daughter and I!) had trouble with the syllable division in 4, so I bought 41/2 for more practice. It's the only half ETC book we've needed so far (she's done through 5).
  16. Your wisdom and encouragement have been a great blessing to me Janice. I read your encouragment to moms to self-educate last year on the TOG boards when I began researching TOG. I wasn't quite ready to take the plunge then, but a year later, I think I am. I really am the oldest student here, having never read many of the classics recommended in WTM and TOG. We'll be starting Year 2, Unit 3 soon, and I think I may just tackle Paradise Lost. :D Love your siggy, too - something I need to remember to do every day - they're growing so fast!
  17. Leonardo da Vinci by Diane Stanley: http://www.amazon.com/Leonardo-da-Vinci-Diane-Stanley/dp/0688161553/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265925392&sr=1-5 Handle on the Arts has a free lapbook: http://www.handleonthearts.com/cart/leonardo-da-vinci-lapbook-p-45.html HTH!:)
  18. We are using SL Core 2 here, too. Love that schedule for keeping me on track! I have added some more history books, though, like more of the Diane Stanley bios and the Who in the World readers from Peace Hill Press. I just look at where they will fit in with our readings from CHOW and use the extra blank line and/or the "Notes" space to schedule it for that week. My dd really loves the SOTW audio CDs, too. We do some of the mapwork and activities from the SOTW Activity Guide, and these, along with her history narrations go in a history notebook. I've looked at TOG, too, but SL is a good fit for us right now, and much easier for me to tweak a bit that plan it all out! HTH!:)
  19. Can't promise...my boys are monster truck crazy...they'd be mighty disappointed if we didn't try a few hills...:D
  20. Ohhh....can I get that Hummer? I think it's just what I need with 3 energetic young children!:D
  21. Oh no! If I ordered Monday and my order has been shipped (due to arrive tomorrow!:drool5:) can I still get the Hummer? The pink would just kind of clash with my very conservative dark blue Dodge Caravan (well then again, maybe a Hummer would, too:lol:).
  22. I'm reading Three Men in a Boat - love that British humor.:D Also reading Five Children and It to dd. It's very funny, too; and it's sweet to see the children, while not always getting along and sometimes acting cross and selfish, still looking out for each other, especially the little guy :) (although you kind of wonder about their nurse letting them traipse around the country like that, even if it was a hundred years ago!).
