Does anyone dry brush their skin?
BikeBookBread replied to Homemaker's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I use a Clarisonic, which is like a Sonicare for the face with a brush head. My skin has never looked better! -
Oh, Billllllll... (Spy Car)

TeA...lack of desire issue
BikeBookBread replied to Holly IN's topic in General Education Discussion Board
This thread explains TeA Brace yourself for what is probably the most classic thread on this board. Warning, though, it is not for the easily offended. -
It's MINUS 34 and our furnace just died...
BikeBookBread replied to specialmama's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I'm so, so sorry! We lost power during a blizzard once in Minot - it was -15 outside. We turned on the gas oven and sat around it in the kitchen. :grouphug: -
Do I want to read The Hunger Games?
BikeBookBread replied to msjones's topic in General Education Discussion Board
The Road is a book that I love to hate. The storyline is completely compelling, but the images stuck in my mind for ages. I think the thing about The Road was it was so "real" -- not sci-fi scary. Is the Hunger Games series as disturbing as The Road or is it more sci-fi-scary? -
S/O: Sheets...do you use a top sheet?
BikeBookBread replied to DarcyB's topic in General Education Discussion Board
No top sheet here either. Just duvet cover over the duvet. We wash the cover every time we wash the sheets. -
Finally! iPhone for Verizon customers
BikeBookBread replied to Imprimis's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I'm hoping that at some point they were offer service without contract, or pay as you go. It's the way most of the service providers seem to be going, and I won't do contracts anymore. -
Anne Shirley. I love how dramatic she is...often ridiculously so! Jo March from Little Women. Jane Eyre. She's simultaneously innocent and complicated. When I was a girl, I wanted to BE Meg Murry from the Wrinkle in Time and additional books, but I also loved her Mom. I really wanted to be a scientist because of her, but I don't think I have a fully-functioning left-side of my brain! Number One: Elizabeth Bennett. Of course. I also love strong girls who whump bad guys: Thursday Next from Jasper Fforde's series. In TV land, I love Olivia Dunham and Sydney Bristow.

David Lee Roth, hands down! He's got that hitch in his voice at the end of a screech. LOL!!!!

I have a thing for 1980's Van Halen tunes. If I'm listening to an 80's station and Van Halen comes on, I just HAVE to pull out my air guitar and jam along with Eddie :) It's strange, though, considering I'm definitely a classical and jazz girl.

Are there any sturdy mechanical pencils?
BikeBookBread replied to mom2abcd's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I just bought a Sharpie Liquid Pencil. It's a little draggy, meaning it isn't 100% smooth, but otherwise I really like it. It's fully erasable, I believe, for 24 hours after writing (it does dry at some point) and does not use lead. I looks a little inky, you can't shade it or anything, but it's a nice alternative to a mechanical pencil. -
Facebook Question

Very good point. Didn't think of that. It does require people voting on an entry photo. -
Facebook Question
BikeBookBread replied to BikeBookBread's topic in General Education Discussion Board
So is it possible to have an account invisible to searches? Especially if I'm using a new email that isn't used for anything else? -
I committed FB suicide a year ago. I have no intention of using FB again. HOWEVER, there is a contest that I would like to enter that requires a FB account to do so. It has been such a long time since I've been on FB; I don't know all ins and outs anymore. Is it possible to create a "minimal" account that is only visible for a contest, but invisible for others to find me? I just don't want to get sucked in and I hate the lack of privacy.

Pepperidge Farm Tim Tams. I keep them on the top shelf that requires a step ladder to access.

Philosophy Supernatural - I have both the cream foundation and the mineral powder foundation. I generally use the mineral powder for everyday use, and the better-coverage cream on Sundays for church or special occasions. I used to use Bare Minerals, but after a month or so of us, I developed some sort of sensitivity to it, and while it looked great, I didn't think it was worth the compelling urge to claw off my face due to the itching.

So, what's for dinner?
BikeBookBread replied to LauraGB's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Sure! Bacon, caramelized onion, broccoli and gruyere quiche Ingredients 1 deep dish pie crust (if I don't make homemade, I use Marie Callendar's frozen crust) 8 strips of bacon, chopped 1 smallish yellow onion or 4 green onions, chopped (I use yellow onion) 1 handful of chopped broccoli florets, raw 1/2 - 1 cup (4 - 8 oz) shredded Gruyere cheese- I err on the lighter side. This is a taste thing. 6 eggs 1 cup half and half or cream (I use half and half) few dashes of Tabasco or other hot pepper sauce 1/8 tsp salt a few grinds of freshly-ground nutmeg freshly ground black pepper or white pepper Preheat oven to 400 Prick the pie crust, and bake for 3 minutes; re-prick the crust and bake another 5 minutes. Remove from oven to slightly cool. Immediately reduce heat to 350. Cook the bacon until desired crispness, add the onions. If using green onions, saute just 1 minute. If using white or yellow onion, cook until translucent and starting to caramelize. Remove from pan and drain well on paper-towel-lined plate. Place the bacon/onion mixture in the bottom of the blind-baked, cooled crust. Arrange the broccoli florets over the bacon mixture. Sprinkle half of the desired amount of cheese over the bacon mixture. Mix the eggs, cream (or half-n-half), and other seasonings well. Pour over the top of the bacon/onion/broccoli/cheese. Sprinkle second half of the cheese. Bake 35 - 40 minutes, or until well-set and cheese is gently browned. Remove from oven and cool at least 10 minutes before serving. This is also good with canned green chiles or a few tablespoons of your favorite salsa mixed into the egg mixture. -

The King's Speech with Colin "Yummy" Firth
BikeBookBread replied to Daisy's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I can hardly wait to see this! I've been following it for months now on the GREAT blog, Enchanted Serenity of Period Films that I follow. It is dedicated to period-piece movies and TV shows. Lots of interesting background info about the movie there. Totally OT, but I just can't pass up a Who reference, you know! My girls do the 1980's sitcom studio audience thing, "ooooOOOOOOO!!!!!!!, the Doctor said a bad woooooooord!":lol: -
Sharpies! Oh, glorious Sharpie markers!

I'm glad I'm not the only Sharpie girl! Have you tried the newer Sharpie retractible fine point everyday writing pens? They write so nicely!
