  1. We already have this! Maybe it depends on the district?
  2. I had very fast results with the Veg Source brand.
  3. Claiming there couldn't possibly be a Greek word for "bus," as though the country of Greece somehow no longer exists, falls under the "glaring error"category in my book, but YMMV.
  4. I don't think it will get much closer than that! Every time dd mentions something she has learned, it is almost always something from Magic School Bus. I'm wondering if we should name our school Magic School Bus Academy... but classier. ;)
  5. Quit pointing out my glaring error. :tongue_smilie: I meant Koine.
  6. I'm pretty sure there weren't busses back then, so maybe "vehicle" or something?
  7. In Indian culture, it's considered inappropriate to show your shoulders. ;)
  8. Well, there is more protein per calorie in greens than meat. You could try juicing kale! As far as the hunger, didn't someone on your thread say he said hunger was in your head? I think you're supposed to pay to ask him if your hungry or something. I'm not sure, I just started.... :driving: (seriously, I need to find that in the book, because that does seem out there...)
  9. Yes, I'm not doing it in an interesting way because I need EASY. I cut up a pound of four different veggies, steamed a pound of greens, threw it all together with the beans, and added a low fat/calorie vegan dressing. I'm eating that, plus the fruit and nuts, throughout the day. I'm basing my veggie picks on sales, because I am on a very tight budget. I think I can do this for $4 a day.
  10. Dr. Fuhrman considers cheese as bad as sweets. Once I'm in a maintenance phase, cheese will be one of my cheats as well.
  11. Is anyone else doing this, or looking to try it? :drool5:
  12. Good idea! Has he always been overweight? He might just be gearing up for puberty.
  13. Unless these are the types of parents who don't like someone else telling their kid what to do.... I'm sure it depends on your social circle, but the majority lf homeschool moms I know lean toward unschooling, and apparently also letting their kids do what they want socially, barring anything violent or abusive. It can be difficult to be around if you don't parent in a similar way.
  14. This makes me so sad. I've always been willing to give the Above Rubies group the benefit of the doubt. I understand not being prepared for attachment issues, but this is so much more than that. How can people who profess so much joy in life be so horrible?
  15. I thought this would be a Youtube video with Spock from Star Trek versus Dr. Spock the child psychologist.
  16. Awesome!!! You are an inspiration, truly!! :hurray:
  17. You submit your letter of intent to homeschool, including the information on the standardized test you will be using that year. Make sure your kids actually take the test. That's it.
  18. I didn't say I stuck with it. :glare: But it made me understand drug addicts for the first time! Wow, if I'm apparently really lucky with this, I just don't have an excuse for how overweight I am....
  19. Wow, 6-7 MILES? I can't even imagine! I wasn't even running half the time, and I'm sure I was running a lot slower than you. Wow, I'm obsessing about the possible implications. I have NEVER been athletic, even when I was thin. Maybe I was meant to be?! My mom was a track star, my dad and half sister are runners. I always assumed I didn't get the gene.
