  1. Love ES and have used it for three years including Earth Science/Astronomy. We are doing Chemistry this year. We purchase their experiment kits too.
  2. “To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.†~~ Ralph Waldo Emerson :)
  3. What did the snail say when it caught a ride on the back of a turtle? Wheeeeeeeeeeeee! :)
  4. Glad surgery went well and he is home. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
  5. A special breakfast and pictures. :)
  6. Saying that someone divorcing because of "non Biblical" reasons is NOT a Christian is not reading into things. It was stated. I did not come on here to play the sanctimonious game, I get enough of that in good old hypocritical belt South Carolina. OP, I think you are handling it as best you can. I pray it works out for all involved, it is a difficult situation to say the least. I am not looking at this thread further. I have better things to do with my time.
  7. I think you are misunderstanding something. Jesus died for all of us, we all fall short and we are all sinners. To say someone is NOT a Christian based on bits and pieces of their life written on a forum thread has plenty to do with planks and specks. So ready to jump to the worst conclusion and not helpful at all. If she is not a Christian for wanting a divorce for what you consider an not Biblical reason, then none of us are Christians because we all sin daily, we all sin without even knowing it.
  8. Highly recommend City Pass!!! Great deal. We live in the Upstate of South Carolina and we have used these passes to go to Atlanta and had a blast! Easy to use and you beat the crowds. Have fun!
  9. And neither is pointing out the speck in someone's eye when you have a plank in your own.
  10. Christians are human just like everyone else and walk out of marriages for many different reasons.
  11. We make wraps a good bit too. I season/marinade chicken and chop up veggies I have on hand. place it in a low carb wrap. I make buffalo chicken ones, teriyaki ones, Caesar, etc. We have a cup of veggies with them, we really love broccoli and we have fruit. I either buy fruit cups or we have cherries on sale, apples, grapes, etc. We use the wraps to make pizzas too. Pizza sauce is a dollar a jar, we slice mozzarella cheese sticks we have for snacks already and then put leftover veggies and meat on the pizzas. For instance, we had leftover sausage from brunch this weekend, leftover mushrooms from the smothered pork chops we had and I had leftover onions and peppers from other meals. Sometimes I make a casserole to have for lunch several days a week. My daughter absolutely loves chicken cheesy broccoli mushrooms and rice casserole. I can make a batch of that and we both have it on MWF and break it up by having something else on TH. Homemade soups the same with grilled cheese (sorry) or a wrap. :) We make fajita meat or hamburger with black beans and make tacos/burritos. Looking forward to reading the rest of the suggestions. Good ones, so far. :)
  12. Buy box air conditioners. We put one in our bedroom and our daughter's bedroom, a larger one in our living room which also cools our dining room, kitchen, breakfast nook, foyer, etc. We have saved over a hundred dollars a month using them. We shop Aldis a lot and have saved over 100 dollars a month their too. They have a good organic selection. Getting rid of cable was a great one. We love Netflix and spend more time doing constructive things instead of sitting in front of the tube.
  13. We are down to one in the house and the rest are grown but I will admit my children are one area I am not thrifty. My older children I buy clothes for at Christmas, it is what they want and then some gc to places like the movies or a fave restaurant. They do get a stocking full of candy and small items. My youngest gets a big gift usually. This year it will be a tablet because we think it would be good for her to have one, she has not asked. She will then get books, crafts and things like that because she asks for them and it is hard to keep an only occupied. :) We are planning on going to Universal Studios in February, we have not been since about 2006/2007. That is a family gift. I would say we spend about 250-300 per child not including the big present for the youngest. Last year it was an electric scooter she wanted. The year before was a Chihuahua puppy she wanted. It was a great addition to our family. :)
  14. I take a gummy multivitamin and gummy B complex. I take calcium citrate and vitamin D. I take fish oil pills My doctor is the same age as me and she suggested these vitamins.
  15. Hello! There was a Living Social special to try out Kelly Kits, it was three months for $25. We received our first craft kit in July. It was Koi Collagraphy. We made traditional Japanese wood blocks of a koi fish (we made it out of foam not wood). We read information on koi fish and a bibliography on Ohara Koson and his works. Everything is included and I mean everything. Cotton balls, scissors, pens, etc and there is a video on her site that takes you step-by-step through the craft. She goes through five disciplines-collage, draw, paint, printmaking and sculpture. There are enough materials for two children in my opinion. We had enough for my daughter's five year old nephew to do the craft too. I can see us doing this craft again on our own and using the butterfly template she has on the member area. My daughter is counting down the days until she gets her next Kelly Kit. Our three month membership ends in late September and we plan on buying a one year membership for $99 then. I think it is well worth it. A different type of subscription box that we are going to be checkingout is called Raddish, check it out! http://www.raddishkids.com/ I am down to one child at home and she is extroverted and active. I am constantly looking for things to keep her busy and things for us to do as a family.
  16. I think everyone, especially Christians need to spend time in getting their own individual acts together and stop worrying about everyone else. We are so ready to judge ourselves by our intentions but others by their actions. We need to remember to get the plank out of our own eye before pointing at the speck in someone else's. It is God's judgment about who is real and who is not, only He truly sees into our hearts and minds. Just my two cents.
  17. Bless your heart too, Mother. Prayers for your little one, you and your family. hugs
  18. And this too, shall pass. *hugs* I volunteered as a GAL when I lived in Florida. My hubby and I also had exes that did NOT pay child support. His ex had 11 jobs in one year and all she had to do was pay over half of what was owed and the cycle would start all over again. My ex has a well paying job and his check was garnished and his tax return taken. Those years were pure hell. The kids are grown and on their own now, thankfully.
  19. Handle them how you would wish to be handled with your flaws. We all have them.
  20. Thank you, Ethel. I had checked out Classical Composers Monthly and went back and forth. Next time they have a special sale I will go for it. I will check out the other link too. :)
  21. Some good advice given. Hugs and prayers.
  22. I agree with this. Sometimes we have to take things a day at a time, an hour at a time, a minute at a time. Also too, we have to take care of ourselves first to a certain extent or we can't take care of others. Best wishes to you, Scrappy, hope all goes well with your surgery.
  23. I had a stroke on May 9th. Before that in November my daughter had surgery to remove her feeding tube. We spent Thanksgiving in ER because her surgical site opened but she is fine now. My mother had a massive heart attack in January and had a triple bypass in February. We went down to Florida to help my father. My daughter had a severe UTI and we were worried it would move into her kidney, she only has one. We found out her tethered spinal cord is back and she wil need surgery eventually to release it. Our last semester of fourth grade was a disaster, we slogged through it best we could. I am walking now, I have problems with strength and balance in my right leg. I can write coherently but still have problems with strength and coordination in my right arm. I can drive short distances and luckily my husband's job is now local. He used to travel extensively out of state through the week, so now he can oversee our work daily as I continue to heal. I am depending on my husband a good bit as far as household chores and cooking but my doctor expects a full recovery and I see him next in December. Hopefully we can all work on building each other up to stay the course. :)
