  1. Great news! I was wondering how he was doing.
  2. I hate having to be gluten free. Being corn free too, that sounds really difficult!
  3. I love all your titles, Scrapbook! Never been a travel agent. A friend of mine was one in college. The only gluten free bagels I've had are the Canyon Bakehouse Everything Bagel sold at Target. They are good. There is a great bakery downtown that sells a few gluten free items like brownies and macarons.
  4. These sound amazing! I think I'm going to add one to my desserts for Easter!
  5. It's hump day! Taxes were done a while ago. I am definitely distracted by the beautiful weather and other things. Just found out people are flying in for my son's high school graduation and I'm going to have a house full. Scenes from Christmas Vacation keep popping into my mind! An escape is just what I need right about now. My mom tried to talk me into visiting her in Orlando, and it was tempting but we really just need to complete this year out. I'm determined that the kids will finish their math books, science and keep progressing in other things, even if we are kind of a disorganized mess right now.
  6. I took a melatonin last night and woke up to a scary dream. Something like Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Luckily I quickly fell back to sleep. For people who avoid gluten, there is just not much for a fast food breakfast. Maybe a hash brown but that's not filling. In a pinch, I stop by a grocery store and get a protein bar.
  7. For older kids one year I did Nike slides along with the typical candy and plastic eggs. This year I'm adding a t shirt of the college my son will be going to. Not sure about the other two yet.
  8. I was surprised that one serving of my gluten free cereal that I ate as a frequent snack was 9 points, about a third of my daily points.
  9. It really does make you aware. A Chick-fil-A sandwich, fries and a tea would be almost a whole day's worth of food for a female but you could get a sandwich, fruit cup and an unsweetened tea. Not that every day is fast food but when it is, you adjust. Connect is kind of like WW's own version of FB where people post encouraging things, successes or ask for advice.
  10. What gingersmom said. I am doing WW and find the app with the scanner and Connect really great. There are plenty of men posting, and young people. It has really helped me with portion control. It was only about 20 a month so it doesn't cost much to give it a try if your son is willing.
  11. Around The World in 80 Days to my 13 and 16 year old kids. The 13 year old prefers to read on his own so he ended up breaking off from us to read on his own.
  12. A friend of mine shops the boys section for her daughter's shorts.
  13. Very unmotivated today but we have to keep plugging along so we are done by summer vacation. It's raining here too. We are late starting school and because we started late, we will be going late.
  14. No to the first two questions but yes to the last. We dug out our black spot riddled hawthorns and replaced them with new shrubs. It was back breaking work, and I was exhausted when we finished. My hands ached all night long! Now I need to get some flowering annuals to put in that bed and some mulch. Also, I've been hitting the Lowe's plant clearance rack for cheap plants to replace those I've lost.
  15. I'll play! Other forums--just Weight Watchers mainly. There used to be a great forum for my area but that has fizzled out. Finishing school by summer--It's a goal of mine to get the kids through their math books by the second or third week of June. That means finishing a lesson a day and not splitting them in two like we do sometimes. I have it all scheduled out so I just have to really push. I want them to do this online math a couple days a week over summer to keep their skills sharp. Science is on track and history will just continue where we left off. But I'm really, really ready for the year to be over!! Shoes--I wear all kinds of shoes. With our crazy weather it can go from tall boots to flip flops. Mostly I was wearing these Earth something or other shoe but they don't look right with socks so they make my feet stink. If not for that, I'd wear them all the time because they are so comfortable.
  16. Math Foerster Algebra 1 Science Mr. Q's Advanced Earth (would love to get Physics 101 dvds in too if possible) Runkle Physical Geography Writing A hodge podge of things-maybe part online class, part Lively Art of Writing, Writing With a Thesis, might even do IEW, etc. IEW SWI B, Sequential Spelling, finishing Caesar's English 2, GUM Drops, literature, still working on cursive History Biblioplan, continue where we left off German continue on his own using Duolingo and library resources Electives not decided--maybe some culinary arts, Art of Argument, The Edison Project? classes at the local science center, etc.
  17. I understand your thinking about breakfast but at a certain age, I figured that they would have to make that decision and deal with the consequences. If they end up starving by lunch, they will make sure to eat breakfast next time. Or it might work for them not to have breakfast. My dh never eats breakfast and my high school senior never does either. I would have felt like a bad mom sending my kid to school without breakfast (or a jacket) in elementary school but once they hit middle, it's on them.
  18. That recipe is incredible! I've made it a few times thanks to the post on here. I made a white sauce to go with it.
  19. You could try posting some pictures on Gardenweb.com in their home decorating forum.
  20. Look up silent reflux. Another thing could be gluten. I've dealt with this for a long time and it started as a sore throat that wouldn't go away.
  21. I have this problem sometimes. I just ordered some children's melatonin that melts in your mouth. My plan is to keep it on my nightstand to take if I wake up and can't fall back asleep, but only if I know I can sleep for about five more hours. They also have melatonin drops but the melts seem easier.
  22. My kids are like that. Right now one is mad at me about a field trip I planned. It has me second guessing but it goes perfectly with what we've been studying. I'm torn between "I'm the teacher and this is for school," and "It would be great to get out of the house and do something different because you know, burn out," and "Well, if they don't want to go, maybe I should just scrap it." It's tough.
