  1. This thread has been reported. Please stay on topic. Thanks.
  2. So sorry for your and your husband's loss. But thanks for doing the right thing. It is hard doing the right thing. At least you can sleep at nights. Sending you hugs.
  3. What is Radium Girls? Can you please provide a link? Thanks.
  4. My husband does at work when he does go in. We sometimes don't mask indoors. We do during church service and most of the time grocery shopping. Rarely outdoors unless I'm with someone who is masking. I make my daughter wear a mask to her indoors art class because of the fumes. I wear a mask when I use the public restrooms. 😂 I think we have had covid twice. Not confirmed though. Because one time was before lockdown. And the other time my dh and I had just been fully vaccinated and it went through us in one day.
  5. So sorry. Glad you weren’t there.
  6. For high school chemistry, yes. What I like about Athena's is that it's there for your learning. It depends on the child if he/she wants to do all of it. One doesn't even have to do the reading. They really want the questions answers, and for the student to comment on other's answers every week. This buildsa community. Otherwise, it's up to the student what he/she gets out of it. AP Psychology too. Lots of reading from a college level text. Not sure about the other classes though. I would assume they would be the same. Especially, any courses that are for high schoolers. Not sure about the courses that say grades 7 - 12th though.
  7. Have you looked at Athena's Advanced Academy? My son loved their philosophy class when he was in 7th grade. My children hasn't had any high school classes with onlineG3, but it's a sister company to Athena's Advanced Academy. My son took their middle school history class this year and liked it. I liked what he learned from it too. He talks about what he learned in history all the time. So, interesting facts out there that I didn't know about!
  8. This happens to me too. I'm chalking it up to perimenopause. I have to have lots of caffeine on those days I get 5 hours of sleep. 😩 Sorry no advice. But you are not alone!
  9. Hi, Can anyone recommend their kid's favorite online Biology course? I see the pinned Biology thread. Thanks.
  10. My nephew was born with a red mark on his face (below his eye and beside his nose). About the size of a small dime. It eventually went away after a few years. Unfortunately, I don't remember what it was called.
  11. I'm not quite sure yet. 😂 Thanks for providing the info on what your 11th grader is doing. That helps. I'm thinking the one credit for the Schole Amer Lit does not do it justice. I was thinking it would be more like 5 credits. I believe I talked to the teacher and he said that isn't much writing in that class which probably is why it's only one credit. Still figuring things out.
  12. Interesting. How many books per year would be qualified for a 10 credit in LA? Or does it depend on the amount of writing as well?
  13. I thought that was a lot of books for a one credit class as well. I guess as homeschoolers we could give the # of credits as we see fit, correct?
  14. You are not being unreasonable at all. You have a lot of good advises so far. So sorry that you are in this situation. I hope you find a solution that works out for everyone.
  15. So far, if you have the book, just answers to the questions in the book and worksheets he provides which contain similar questions as the book. I'm pretty sure that there will be one paper due by the end of the school year. Peter Belfry. He's great. I signed up one of my daughter to take his Art of Argument class for next year. Discovery of Deduction is only 1 high school credit.
  16. My son is currently in Discovery of Deduction. The class is great and so is the teacher. I would not consider it as a writing intensive course though. Of course, I'm comparing it to their online Writing and Rhetoric class. Now that was intensive. I chose CAP because I heard good things about that class (and the Art of Argument class) and I liked the relaxed approach. I have done a few Memoria Press programs and it just didn't work well for us when my kids were younger. We never tried James Nance before. I'm not sure if he will pursue Rhetoic Alive. I'm inclined to do critical thinking books through the critical thinking company and logic of mathematics through IMACS or self study. My son would enjoy those types of approach to logic more.
  17. I'm looking into this class as well. Here are my thoughts so far. My daughter is currently in a middle school literature at schole. It's not too much work. Having said that, I noticed that the H.S. American Lit is only 1 credit which leads me to believe that it's not as much work as a typical H.S. English class would be. The teacher is extremely nice if that helps. 🙂 It looks like 7 books are discussed (5 and a couple of poetry). Which is a lot for one credit in my opinion. According to my husband, a typical Honors English course generally reads about 6 books a year. If my son does this class, I plan to have my son do a couple of writing workshops with Lantern or Write at Home. Hth
  18. I believe Connie's Adv Hon Chem lacks 3 topics to pass the AP Chem though. Am I correct WTM? Thought I read that somewhere.
