  1. We have been spending @ $3000-$4000 but that's for 7 kids and we have changed paths a few times so are still buying new curiculum. In a few years it should level off for us and I wont need but a few workboks here and there.
  2. My Dd is a vet nurse and got bit by a cat a few months back. She did have to go to the ER where they washed it out and she was on antibiotics for a while. Her hand was numb and swelled terrible and she still has scars today. I wouldn't mess with it especally if you don't know whether the cat had a rabbies vax or not.
  3. We went to one. Was about 300-600 people ( two dfferent estimates lol) but it was very nice.
  4. I dont keep any grades until high school and then I keep track with a simple excel sheet and transfer the info to their transcript at the end of the year.
  5. Thanks again everyone. You have given me lots to think about. :)
  6. I am planning on CLE math for my upcomigng first grader, but I am researching other options just in case this doesn't work for her. :) I see many people here use Singapore and I am curious as to what made you choose this over another program. Do you switch to another program once they are in the upper grades? If so what? Also, I see a lot of people supplement when using Singapore and I wasn't sure why? Do you have to supplment? Oh, and US edition or standards edition? Thanks!
  7. My 20 year old is a vet nurse at an animal clinic and is going ( back-she started and then took a year off) to school in the fall for a vet tech degree. My 19 yo is in college working towards a degree in civil engineering and my 17 yo will enter college in the fall for a degree in criminal justice. My 16 yo is planning on becoming a neurologist and my 14 year old wants to sing, dance, write music or something in one of those fields. Not sure on the younger ones yet except my 11 year old has said he wants to be a preacher for a few years now.
  8. They changed the law in Arkansas in Feb of this year to 5 by September 1st, but next year it will change to 5 by August 15th and they year after that 5 by August 1st.
  9. We used Short Lessons in Art History and the workbook with my high school boys who had NO interest in the subject. The lessons are short, easy, they can do it alone and it gets done. The links bring you to CBD, but I believe you can order these from Amazon too.
  10. My kids have liked The Fallacy Detective and Thinking Toolbox. Now sure if that's what you had in mind or not.
  11. We are starting year 2 of TOG and I am buying all the books we need so it has been quite an expense for us. However, in two more years I will have what I need for all 4 years and the expense will drop off.
  12. I think he would really like this and the other kids could jump in too. This fits more with what I had in mind for them, but I keep grabbing the textbooks to make sure we don't miss anything, kwim? :glare:
  13. We are using the ancient book this year without the teacher's book and there has only been one time I wished I had it. I posted on the IEW yahoo group and was helped right away.
