  1. There is a new version here: http://www.achildsgeography.com/
  2. Rachel - You have gotten a lot of good advice. My youngest son has chronic migraines. The neurologist told us that boys usually outgrow them at puberty and girls migraine's usually begin at puberty. I hope this is a one-time thing for your dd. Excedrin Migraine will work sometimes, but my neuro said they are not good if you have chronic migraines because they can cause rebound headaches. I would try that this time. My ds had a migraine last night. It seems to work the same whether he takes his precription meds (he takes Amerge at the onset of his migraines) or not - he is not better until he throws up and goes to sleep. Praying for your dd.
  3. They just call it The Board, but I like The Mind People. :001_smile:
  4. What about this one? Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley I met a traveler from an antique land Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; And on the pedestal these words appear: “My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look upon my works, ye Mighty, and despair!†Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.
  5. Wow, that is a great timeline. Thanks Kristine!
  6. Praying for your family. I hope your planning goes smoothly and thank you for your willingness to share your wisdom with the rest of us.
  7. Here in Western North Carolina there are lots of beautiful places to honeymoon. By the way, my son is getting married in August and I am also helping plan their honeymoon AND the wedding, since her mom is not available to help her. Nothing wrong with being involved in grown children's lives if they want to include you. I am thankful I am close enough to my son and my future daughter-in-law that they want my help.
  8. :grouphug: When I feel anxious I clean out drawers and closets. Every closet and drawer in my house is straightened, so that tells you what the last few weeks have been like for me. If it's that bad, I agree with the pps that said to go ahead and take the meds. Go to sleep and start again tomorrow.
  9. How precious. From someone on the other side, I can tell you it does go too fast. A couple of nights ago my almost 11yo dd slept with us. I LOVE it. I know there won't be too many more times I get to snuggle her like that.
  10. Me too. I honestly never thought about the possibility of NOT having a junk drawer, and I am considered very neat and organized.
  11. I'd love a group for lending Nook books!
  12. We usually start the first Monday in August, but my oldest is getting married August 21. I can't decide if I should start August 2 or wait until after the wedding is over. I am so busy trying to get everything ready for the wedding that I am a little afraid it would get our school year off to a rocky start to begin August 2.
  13. That's good to know. I guess my mind went running to "what if this could mean something more serious." It's my job to borrow trouble. :001_smile:
  14. I only know medical history as far back as my grandparents. No one that I know of had high cholesterol. I guess they could have had it and been undiagnosed.
  15. My 17yo went for a physical last week. They drew blood to test for arthritis, since he has joint pain and a strong family history. That test came back negative, but when the nurse called she said they wanted him to come in to check his cholesterol. She said his blood looked "waxy." She said that she and the doc could look at it and tell his cholesterol was high. I don't know what that means. I thought high cholesterol was due to poor diet, obesity, no exercise, etc. None of those describe my son's lifestyle. He is skinny, eats a healthy diet, and is very active. What would cause an otherwise healthy teenager to have high cholesterol? He is going in the morning to have the lab work done.
  16. Thats why my boys' room is the basement. Add in all the friends coming over after football practice and my basement smells gross, gross, gross. Why do they all have to shower at MY house?? I agree with the hose outside idea.
  17. My dd would only be allowed to be around grandma if I was in the same room. I have actually had to do this.
  18. Yep, I'm right there with you. Especially with my liberal friends thinking I am uber conservative and my conservative friends thinking I am way too liberal. I guess I'm just me. :001_smile:
  19. Praying for you and your family Heather. :grouphug:
  20. My sister and three neices are ps teachers. They are all very supportive of my homeschooling. In fact, it was my sister who encouraged me to begin with. Her daughter, also a teacher, is on leave from teaching with her littles. She is considering homeschooling when they reach school age.
