  1. I think something is going around...I've been sick off and on for about 4 weeks. I thought I had gotten the flu or a head-cold but the coughing will not stop. Thanks for bringing this up. I am going to try some of the suggestions. I hope you can figure it out. I hate feeling weak and when I just get some energy a cough comes on and then the cycle starts all over again.
  2. Good for you! It's so nice to have a goal and get it finished!
  3. I put them in magazine holders from IKEA. For specific sets we keep separate like star wars, lego friends, LOTR, City etc we keep them in the bin. It helps especially when I have to help build something my youngest (4 yr ) wants. My older kids can just build and create something I need the instructions.
  4. Very neat, thanks for sharing. I would love to see what they come up with for middle/highschool...
  5. I suggest taking a break. If you feel the need/desire to find/go to church consider trying one that someone you knows goes to. Lastly, don't feel guilt to go to church. I did for years, it ate me up inside, I would hate for anyone to ever go through that. At the end of the day, you/your husband need to decide what is RIGHT for your family. We've had seasons where we were really active and involved in a church and at other times in our lives we didn't go for years. Do what is best for your family at this season in your life.
  6. Debbie Maccomber (romance author) I started reading her and then came to enjoy Nicholas Sparks.
  7. We have about 30 families or so. We have an upper (middle/high) coordinator. She tries to plan a game night once a month but if we there is a "group" for all ages event planned sometimes she doesn't plan anything. The game nights are fun but could use some mixing up. She does an easter egg/hunt with a good friday service. I wish they had more but most of the upper kids go to classes/co-op in person, have multiple sport/music or scouting type committments that it's hard to plan around.
  8. I've used $13 last fall. I have another 8 or so. I only shop there once in a while, I think if I shopped more I would get more back, but I am happy with the program!
  9. I never realized static was a problem. What works for me is to take clothes right out of the dryer when it rings or a few mins before and hang them up on hangers. Of course, underwear, socks, pj's and play clothes I just fold. Occassionally, a shirt will be staticish but I just fluff it out on a hanger and haven't had any problem. I do dry most of the clothes on low.
  10. Animal Farm. Even my 4 year old misses it. He is always asking me to read it.
  11. My DH cuts up old soft cotton t-shirts. I prefer Regular Kleenex.
  12. Love Targets. They sell them in the sleepwear/exercise area. They have all sizes from XS to XXL and are very comfortable. I tend to by a little bigger then I am because I don't want them skin tight.
  13. Thanks for sharing! I thought they were done. I can't wait to watch it!
  14. Rummikub was a hit for my grandparents (in their 80's). My grandmother always was up for games like Clue and cards but my grandfather didn't like to play. Rummikub was a winner for him. Lots of time when we had to many players or he wasn't in the mood, we could coax him into playing with someone on a "team". It worked great.
  15. Pathway Readers aren't too preachy in the early grades like the first grade books, but they do in the older if I remember correctly. Study Time isn't in the preschool workbooks but that's all I have seen. You can check out sample pages https://www.milestonebooks.com/list/Pathway_Readers/ I know that isn't not a lot of help, hopefully someone else will chim in.
  16. This is our first year. Instead of shoes, we put out slippers by the fireplace. I almost went to bed and forgot to put out the gifts. We ended up giving 3 small things to each child. The youngest is exicted but sleeping in so when he wakes up we'll open the gifts and talk about the saint.
  17. I guess we are too...the only expectations were for cough medicine and frozen pizza. Oh I just saw my DH had to get a key made for one of his rental properties (yep, I am balancing the checkbook and it came in)... but no Black Friday shopping for us.
  18. We use Cd's a lot epesically in the car and both our children have cd players in their rooms vs. ipods or such. Maybe consider asking the parents if they have a cd play that the kids can use to listen to cds with. Also, our dvd player allows you to listen to cds, that might work.
  19. I'll be following...my son loves ABC books and we could use a couple that focus on the sounds.
  20. Anything related to trains, cars (hotwheels/nascar types), and building blocks like legos. I would love to find some more puzzles or games we can play with him that are short 15-20 mins and fun.
  21. We have a ton of teens trick-or-treat especially when it gets late. Most are polite and just happy to be hanging out with their friends. I was suprised that so many do it...when I was growing up we stopped in middle school but I wish I didn't. My tweens are going with our preschooler and plan to for at least a few more years. Of course, if you don't agree with it, I totally understand and since you stated your DH would be against it too I just find something else to do that night with my daughter. That way you don't have to "not" tell your DH and you don't have to bring it up to the host parent.
