OH...I am so sorry.... I really have no idea what the right words are, and I don't know how to make the group hug thing, but I'm hurting for you. The doctor was wrong. I had a friend whose doctor did something similar, I guess they just see it from some odd medical perspective that doesn't have much to do with reality. Our thoughts are with you over the next few days.

You could also switch to Math In Focus, level 6. HMH purchased the rights to the American version of Singapore Math. It looks almost identical, but the teacher edition is laid out very nicely.

Singapore was the program I used with my kids. I liked how it introduced concepts. You could probably use it in conjuction with Right Start, until you have a feel for which one is really working better. Singapore has the plus of being really inexpensive. Another great supplement is the "Keys to..." products, sold by Key Curriculum Press.

In our last house we had a wood fireplace, with a gas starter! Kind of a nice combo. In Florida, I'd go with the gas option. Well, I guess in Alaska, I'd go with the gas option too, as we have 4 gas stoves in our B&B! We also have one wood stove, but it is really a lot of work!

Yeah...the kids have always gotten a kick out of the aunt and uncle thing. The most horrible, awkward moment was right after my dad's divorce. We (my husband and one of my boys) went out to dinner with him and his kids. We ran into the kids' teacher, who I knew was a good friend with dad's x-wife. I was told who she was, but she was never properly introduced to me. I noticed her whispering to the person she was with and giving me death glares! "Oh, no!" I told my husband. "She thinks I am Dad's new girlfriend!" (This was disturbing on many, many levels) Unfortunately, dh thought this was very funny, and proceeded to look shocked when I tried to put my arm through his, switched things up so he was sitting opposite from me and I was right next to my dad.... the brat. The teacher lady gave me the evil eye, the whole time. Since then, whenever I am with my dad, the first words out of my mouth are "He is my dad!"

I'm 27 years older than my half sister! It is just such a whole different world. He was never my "dad" at the same time he was their dad, he was already "grandpa" to us. Their mom and I went to the same highschool. She graduated the year before I started. Her best friend was my best friend's sister. We had the same teachers.

I'm voting for #1 as well, although my ipad would not pull up the layout for the bedrooms. I love a beautiful entrance. We had a house with a formal dining room right off the entrance. We used it about 4 times a year, but it always looked nice, and was the first impression people had of the house. Pretty staircases are really nice as well. I might turn that formal livingroom into a school room however! Laundry on the first floor.... yes! I'm sure the builder can alter some things. Have fun!

My dad married for a third time after I had my first. He and his wife had kids the same age as my 2nd and 4th kids. He is divorced again, but I have a good relationship with his x-wife and the kids, although it is much more aunt-ish than sister-ish. The kids are now 19 and 16. My problem... when talking to the kids I can never just call my dad, "dad". It is always "your dad". I just can't. LOL. It might stem from the argument I had with my sister when she was 3.... "my dad", "no my dad", "no my dad". I was just going to text her to make plans for my dad's 70th birthday, and I CAN'T just say "Dad". I might just be bored tonight.... this is a very random post.

Four is a delightful number. It happened to be our magic number. And #4 was the only one we planned. Large families are fairly normal in Alaska. I have more friends with 4 kids, than any other number! Two of my best friends have 7, and expecting #10. I always wondered "who else" we might have had. But four was good for us. Answer: 97 OK, just kidding, sort of. As I live in a 10,000 sq ft B&B, we go through a lot a vacuums. A lot. I've had a couple dysons, hoovers, kirbys.... sometimes I just get cheap ones from Walmart, so I don't feel bad when they die. And they all die.

ALASKANS FOR GLOBAL WARMING!!! LOL... I'm stuck right in the middle. My personal beliefs lean toward "natural cycles". However, my dad is one of those "global warming scientists." So I have to give hime so credence as well. Sigh. However, according to my dad, over the last 50 years, there has been a 6 degree Kelvin increase from Jan-Mar. Also, the tree line, has moved north approx 50 miles. When my daughter was about 5, we were in the grocery store. Using a cajoling tone of voice, usually reserved for things like candy, she begged "please, mommy, can't we have some squash?!" I'm pretty sure at least one of the incredulous shoppers who turned and stared at us, might have dropped what they were holding!

I roast it whole, as mentioned above. Then cut it in half, take out seeds, add a generous amount of butter and a scoop of brown sugar, and then roast it a little longer. Mmmmm.... family favorite!

Our littles had a very similarly styled leo. Levels 4&5 went to a plain long sleeve and then 6 and up got some bling! Boys outfits are so much less entertaining!

We were there in October. It felt "off season", and a few things were closed. But we had a beautiful day and enjoyed ourselves. However, DO NOT stay at the White House Hotel (something like that). It was awful, so bad that we were just laughing the whole time, because there was no other choice!

I love texting. I'm actually texting back and forth with my mom right now. Ha! Someone was teasing me once "Oh, you are all hip, texting!" and I had to confess I was texting my 70 yo mom! Texting is addition to TALKING, which I am also very good at. I consider texting and "add-on" not a replacement.

My dh never reads for pleasure, only business. Reading is my favorite thing in the whole world. It makes me sad because it is something we don't share, but it isn't a deal breaker. The sadest part is that only my oldest enjoys reading. I blame that on him!

LOL... after I told my easy birth story to my friend at your stage, she said she spent her whole non-easy delivery thinking, "I thought it would be like Shannon's". Augghhhhh! The guilt!!! I really don't count. #1 (7 weeks preemie) 2 hours #2 12 MINUTES #3 30 minutes #4 30 minutes - 1 push. (I don't recommend that one, she was in the hospital for a week with amniotic fluid in her lungs because she didn't get squeezed enough!) Best wishes! And you'll forget it all once you have the little cutie in your arms!

There is so much helpful advice on here! My kids are all little. My second child was in the -5% most of his childhood. As a 19 yo, he is only 5'5" but now weighs about 165 all muscle! The items you listed that he ate yesterday actually seemed really normal to me. Sigh. My dd used to eat 3 cheerios and be full. When those size kids get as sick as your kids sounds like he got sick, their stomachs must shrink to nothing. Bit sized pieces of fruit used to tempt my kids. I'd even through out some goodies to get him in the habit of eating again. Cookies, chocolate chips... you know. Maybe mini sausages. Yougurt. Icecream. I have a great picture of my boys stuffing their faces this weekend, but I can't figure out how to get it off of my facebook, and then onto this site, using my ipad. I was hoping it would give you hope for the future!

I would bring this complaint directly to the coach first... maybe he doesn't realize how much he is doing it? (doubtful benefit of the doubt.) Depending on his reaction, I would then go to the activities director or principal. It is unacceptable behavior. If he isn't actually a teacher, as coaches often aren't, he is probably used to a different setting.

While we are more lab people (we apparently like dogs who aren't that smart!) We did have a GS mix at the beginning of our marriage. Theo was so smart and so obedient. However, after we started having kids, we realized we couldn't trust him when we were there. Although he loved the kids as non-mobile babies, He couldn't stand the kids in "his space", my fears were confirmed when he was accidently left alone with my daughter, and snapped at her. He also had to be muzzled at the vet, again, a space issue. We found a non-kid home, and I hope things worked out for him. However, I think you are at a much better stage to start out with a GS than we were! I highly recommend a good trainer. I have one I love here, in Alaska, but I doubt that would help you much. After my experience with Theo, I have loved working with a trainer. I would look into specific training for the chicken situation ahead of time. We had another dog go "chicken crazy" because the neighbor let his chickens wander onto my property, and she got one. That became her obsession the whole summer.... it didn't end well. However, Theo, the GS, had actually caught one once (same neighbor) and put it down when I told him too. Good luck! There is nothing better than a dog... (I hope the cat sitting on my lap is looking the other way.)
