  1. I am using Voyages in English - 3rd grade and it is excellent. You don't need the teacher's manual. It's pretty self explanatory. I highly recommend it. It's been a great fit with us. http://www.loyolapress.com/voyages-in-english-resources.htm Hth
  2. I received the Handbook of Nature study for Christmas. Would some one please point me in the direction of Barb, I think it is who has a website with weekly stuff to do. Also would be interesting in hearing how you've implemented this into your days. Thanks. Robin
  3. Alright. I'm sold. I just ordered mine. thanks everybody and especially plaid dad. Robin
  4. Mine is up now. Scroll down past the sticky post. Link is in signature. Have a wonderful day
  5. Yeah Proudmama! That's it. I saw it on the sonlight sight. I knew some one would get it. Thank you.
  6. I can't for the life of me remember. There was a program or a book in which you prayed for each country and what was happening there. Anybody know what I'm talking about. I also need a good character curriculum and something that teaches about praying and caring for others. I'm trying to teach son (9) not to be so self centered. Our bible study is faulting a bit. I need some guidelines or a program of some sort that will help me to guide him better. Thanks.
  7. Mine is up. I'll come visit and see yours when I done with my final. wish me luck
  8. Well, I broke down and did it. Amazon has wii's in stock now ($249.00) and I just bought one for Christmas. Bought some extra controllers and three games: Super Mario Galaxy, star wars complete saga and active life outdoor challenge. My folks sent us $300 which paid for most of it so I'll have to thank them for that. Now I know what to tell relatives what to get us for christmas :)
  9. Weekly wrap up is up. We didn't do any formal lessons this week but life lessons abound as always. have a good weekend. off to check out your week.
  10. Quietly raising hand. I've been following the news about her for quite a while. If you live your life in the public eye, everything is scrutinized. I'm glad to see she's making her way back. I hadn't read the words to the song, but I heard it and thought - did she really say that? Now I know what she was saying. Anyway - I heard womanizer once and the dang thing go stuck in my head.
  11. My wordless (maybe a little wordy) wednesday is up now. Have a good day.
  12. We got our tv guardian from family safe media. Initially we got the little box which attaches to dvd and tv. When it went kaput after several years, we got the dvd player. It's excellent. It doesn't work on universal picture movies or anything w/o closed captioning which is only about 10% of what we have. Other than that. We love it. http://www.familysafe.com/tv_guardian_summary.html hth
  13. I am going to try and do it all online. I simply hate going to the stores during christmas time with all the crowds and what not. Amazon is my favorite and with prime I get everything rather quickly. Most of our relatives are out of town so comes in handy. Since hubby broke his ankle, he is also going to learn the fine art of shopping on line.
  14. Our ww post is up and have a treat, not just once, but twice. We are in holding pattern today with Christmas lights and everything else, because father fell off the ladder last night and may have sprained his ankle. We are off to the doctor this morning.
  15. I'm in. I headed over early and joined. Thank you so much for doing this. I haven't gotten much writing done today. I think I did all of 300 words this morning. After lessons, spent the day doing a major house cleaning, doing laundry and paying bills. Now will be writing up a schedule, so won't waste those precious minutes. :)
  16. Hey gang, Just put up our weekly wrap up. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Off to see what others accomplished.
  17. We finished off all leftovers last night, except for turkey. Will use that up tonight and we are done with it. The 3 day rule applies for leftovers. After three days throw it out. If you know you won't be able to eat something right away, Freeze. Otherwise, eat or bye bye on the 3rd day. My 2 cents
  18. I did it. I didn't buy a thing today at a brick and mortar or online store. I was very good and refrained. I try to stay out of the big stores after thanksgiving anyway. The long lines drive me crazy. Thank god for Amazon. Time for bed. :)
  19. Yep, reached the 50k and still working to finish the book. Procrastinating at the moment, but will get back to it in a few minutes. Congratulations to you for finishing. Elegantlion and a few other folks finished as well
  20. My husband tried to talk me into it. However, we will be gone overnight on the 13th and I'm sure my 4 cats will destroy the thing. First christmas with the 3 kittens who are now 6 months old and raising *%#^#. So, it's going up on the 14th.
  21. Yes, darling. The smartest folks have the least common sense. There are several in my family including my son, my brother, my sister. Patience is the key. :001_smile:
  22. We do a whole lot of nothing. A few years back we decided it wasn't worth doing the huge family deals and traveling for thanksgiving and christmas. We have a laid back day, watching dvd's, napping and whatever else. I cook a small turkey with homemade stuffing and mashed potatoes, some sort of vegetable. No pressure. The rest of the weekend we will spend putting up christmas lights because our court goes crazy for the month of December.
  23. You left off "don't start thinking about christmas until after thanksgiving" option. :) That would be my choice. Long answer: Even though my neighbors start decorating their houses in november for the dec 1 start up of our annual month long neighborhood christmas light extravaganza, I steadfastly refuse to think about. (So you know what we will be doing the weekend after thanksgiving out in the chilly air) Even though the stores start putting out christmas stuff before Halloween, I refuse to think about it. I put my blinders on, stick my fingers in my ears and say lalalalala when someone even mentions it. ;) My resounding quote "Talk to me about it after thanksgiving." Short and sweet answer: Nope, I haven't even started yet. :001_smile:
