  1. It is nasty and has too much perfume for me. I hate the stuff and refuse to use it. All it does is contribute to the smell and odor, not eliminate it.
  2. Our three kittens wake me up around 6:00 every morning. If i'm extremely tired, will just throw them outside and go back to sleep til James gets up around 8:00. Otherwise get up and if didn't get my 8 hours will end up taking a nap at some point during the day. I ended up taking a 2 hour nap today which wasn't conducive to getting anything done, but must have needed to sleep. Hence still up and wide awake, instead of heading off to bed. Have to stop reading in bed at night. :)
  3. "Unspeakable" by sandra brown was book # 3 for 52 books, plus I read 3 more that applied to winter reading challenge and 100# challenge. We haven't been spending too much time on the internet this week. This is a technology free week for my son, so limiting my time as well. Book # 4 which will be starting tomorrow (or maybe tonight since hubby off a meeting) is Split Second by David Baldacci. Happy Reading!
  4. Yes, definitely. Why finish a book if you can't stand it.
  5. I joined several challenges and have 90% of the books in my to be read (tbr) pile on my nightstand. I made a list of books that I want to read and pick and chose from that list. I'm trying not to buy anymore new books until I get through the majority of the pile, but just can't resist when I'm in target or savemart looking at the books. Always manage to pick up at least one new one every time. I recently went back and reread well educated mind and will try to read one book each from the 5 categories for this year. I kinda looked at the 1001 books you must read before you die list and have 2% of the books in my tbr pile. I guess the answer to your question is both - reading from list, but also deciding as I go. Robin
  6. Our weekly report is up. Link in my signature to blog. I'm off to do errands and it's my turn to work at the shop today. Will be wandering around to see your reports soon. Have a good weekend.
  7. I know what you mean. When I start to read war and peace, that will take me a while and will probably only read a few chapter a day while reading something else for pleasure in between. If they are super long, you can always count as two books. There are no hard and fast rules. Even though the goal is to read at least one book a week, read what you want and how you want. You may be surprised to see what you have accomplished by the end of the year. Robin
  8. The challenge is for fun! The challenge is to challenge yourself to read one book a week. The challenge is to have a goal and work toward it. The challenge it to say you are going to read something and have accountability for it. The challenge brings together a community of readers to talk about what they are reading. Some are challenging themselves to read more classics or different genre's that they normally wouldn't read. But most of all, we come back round to its for fun.
  9. I finished book # 3 pretty quickly and posted review here on the 52 books blog. Don't ever start a murder mystery just before you are supposed to go to bed. :) Any books I read for the rest of the week will just be gravy and reviewed on my blog. I caused some confusion when posting the update and apologize for that. Clarified with Kay and the start day for the new book week is Thursday. The book update post will be going up on Wednesday's just as an end of the week wrap-up. Wednesday is the day to finish your week's book choice. Plus to let us know what books you'll be reading for the next week. Sorry if my wording confused anyone. The important thing is to have fun reading. If you have a moment, check to make sure I have you listed correctly on the 52 books blog and email me with any corrections or additions. Also, if you haven't joined in yet, feel free to anytime.
  10. I ordered Living Memory a couple weeks ago. When didn't receive, checked fedex tracking and saw it was going in circles from nc to ca and back to nc, then put on a truck which for some reason turned right back around and went back to nc. :banghead: I called Fedex yesterday and for what ever reason, someone misrouted my order and put it on the wrong truck. The address and everything was correct, they just screwed up. Today I get an email from lulu saying the shipment was returned to them and they refunded my money. I can reorder at my convenience. Maybe someone upstairs is trying to tell me something and I wasn't meant to get the book. I don't know. I really don't feel like playing the game all over again. I'm giving up for now. Eventually it will wind up in my local Catholic bookstore or home school store and I will get it then.
  11. I saw that Kay didn't post the weekly update, so here it is. Congratulations - we finished week 2 and ready to go for book 3. How is everyone doing? Today it's time to start book #3. You can post here, and post a review if you want at the 52 books blog. Check and make sure your name is on the list there as well, whether you are a contributor or a participant. If you want to be a contributor, email me and I will send you an invite. http://read52booksin52weeks.blogspot.com/ ___________________ Feel free to join in at any time--Recapping the rules: Read an average of a book a week - 52 books in 52 weeks Re-reading a book counts--as long as you first read it before 2009 School related books don't count (unless you want them to) I finished If There Be Dragons and two or three other books. Book # 3 for the challenge will be Sandra Brown's Unspeakable. Weigh in on 6packofun's idea about having a rating system on this thread Happy Reading
  12. I can come up with a rating system - whether it be grades, numbers or whatever and post it on the side bar of the blog so if readers want to give their books a grade, then we would have something consistent to go by. Such as A - loved it and couldn't put it down, would read again b - loved it c - liked it d - okay e - didn't like it f - couldn't finish it. just an idea - needs some refinement. Have been thinking of coming up with a rating system for a while. Any other suggestions
  13. Ours is up now. Link to blog in signature. Have a good weekend.
  14. Fedex is strange. I just discovered they sent my order from east coast to west coast back to east coast again. My order started out in NJ. Went to ut, then nv, then here to sacramento. Arrived on the 7th and they turned around and shipped it to North Carolina. Doesn't make any sense. Yes, I'll be on the phone tomorrow to find out what happened. I have been waiting for it to arrive and now will have to wait longer. I could have had it on Thursday. :( Oh well.
  15. I'm currently trying to finish my bachelor's degree and going through Excelsior. You can complete all courses online. I generally spend one to two hours, 3 to 4 days a week on class stuff. Art class just started this week, so i'm gearing back up, trying to figure out my schedule. Will have to back down on internet time for a while.
  16. Hey gang. I'm seeing lots of visitors to the website, but hardly any comments. Be sure to leave a comment or two, even if it's just to say hi or good job. Should I come up with a blurb for the side bar saying something like -- don't be a lurker, let us know what you think. Or maybe Thank you for visiting. Let us know what you think. Or just "We would love to hear your comments." Have fun reading.
  17. I just finished Wicked and will be posting a review probably tomorrow. Wasn't really my cup of tea and very dark. Going with a first time author read of paranormal romance "If There Be Dragons" by Kay Hooper.
  18. Oh man! I have amazon wishlist, library thing just started and that took a lot of time. Reading book blogs and reviewing books, putting books on wishlist. Really can't say how many hours a day. Some days more than others. Too many :) But it's so much fun.
  19. Um - yes If you are into writing a review or commenting on whatever you read, you can post it at any time on the 52 books blog. You don't have to wait for a certain day. Hope this helps. Robin
  20. Hi Pam, Oh, the Last Lecture. Now that's an interesting one. Yes, the rules are very flexible. If you start reading a book early, you just need to finish it during the next week. Otherwise, it will be a bonus book. The average is one book a week, but if you manage to read more than that, that's a plus. Saw your post review on the blog - good job. I wrote a comment on it. Happy Reading
  21. HI Gang, We had a positive news report on our local news. I figured out how to embed it and run it on my blog. Come see. Click on link below. They are following well trained mind and the video shows them working on a chicken mummy. Robin
  22. Popping in during my lunch break. Sounds like a good idea and something I should have my son do to get him to read more chapter books. We made up a list last week of 10 books for winter reading challenge. We could probably come up with a book a week. See. You just talked me into it. Robin
  23. I don't particularly care for the chronological or study bibles. I always feel like something is missing. I'd rather do a reading plan of the regular bible instead. I found a different genre's bible reading plan and started reading the bible yesterday utilizing it yesterday. I can already see it is going to work great. Robin
