  1. I remember eons ago, someone posted their hh rules which listed what expect from kids. I shalt not interrupt, etc. I am in the process of writing up rules for our household due to 9 year old seeming to forget rules apply every day and not just on the day it is said. :banghead: Things such as thou shalt not interrupt, use indoor voice, be polite, don't talk back. Would anyone else like to share what they have come up with? If you've already done that, would you please direct me to the thread. I searched and searched but couldn't find anything. Thanks Robin
  2. I want one very much but hubby says it costs too much. If the price goes down say $100 buck, maybe will consider it. :001_smile: Robin
  3. That book gave me the chills. Sinner is next on my book pile. Robin
  4. I just started House of Wolves by Matt Bronleewe. I stopped as soon I received an ARC of Dark Pursuit by Brandilyn Collins in the mail yesterday. I finished reading a short time ago - it's excellent. Back to House of wolves.:001_smile: Robin
  5. Hi - basically we do a weekly wrap up of what we accomplished that week. Trivium Academy has a list of all the weekly reporters in her side bar. Wordless Wednesday is a picture posted on your blog on Wednesday. Just a picture without explanation. Go to a few of the ww posts you see and check out the blogs. There are several ww communities going around the internet. HTH Robin
  6. Ours is up now - link is in my signature. Have a good weekend Off to read your reports :001_smile:
  7. This makes me feel so much better. My 9 year old hates tying his shoes and will wear clogs all the time, rather than having to put on a pair of tennis shoes. Hubby forbade velcro shoes. "He has to learn to tie his shoes!" We incorporated shoe tying into our lessons and had him tie his shoes daily for a couple weeks. He got it and life went on. However, he "forgets" conveniently and just doesn't want to do it. Oh and we did the bunny ears thing. Whatever works to get it done. Glad he isn't the only one. :) Robin
  8. We have a mom and pop audio/video repair business. We've outlived the majority of repair shops in our town so far. I've only had a couple customers in the past few days declining to get work done due to the economy. It will be when they stop bringing equipment in because they can't afford the diagnostic fee, that it will hurt us. At least we've established a good reputation with most of the music stores in the area. They are sending customers our way, plus we do a lot of warranty work. We've established a niche working on older equipment up to 30 years old so between the vintage equipment and the musicians, we are doing pretty good. We didn't take out any lines of credit for the business and I've managed to pay off all debts so we're good there. We track income/expenses weekly and compare to previous years, making sure we are track. We will be able to see a decrease right away and adjust as need be. Business comes in spurts some weeks, but most of the time we are two week behind. When we get caught up, then my techs start worrying. One of our techs is concerned and has gotten involved in his wife's side business so he will have extra income in case of a big down turn. Both our techs have 30 years experience and I see them getting older and getting burned out quicker and that worries me. Finding experienced, reliable, intelligent and loyal help is really difficult these days. Eventually we will have to face them both leaving because they just can't do it anymore. So we do have to prepare for the future in which we will no longer have the business. Whether its due to economics or age, only time will tell. Robin
  9. In my humble opinion, the glass is half full. You are just starting to get to the prime of your life. You are getting to the point where life takes off - enjoy aging. It gives you wisdom and more freedom. Freedom to be yourself and quite caring less what the world thinks. 48 going on 49 this month and actually looking forward to turning 50 next year. my 2 cents Robin of mytwoblessings
  10. My weekly wrap up is finally posted - blog link below in sig. Have a nice weekend. Robin
  11. Hi! Dropped in to see who else is doing nanowrimo this year. Glad to see a few are aboard. This will be my second year. I am still working on the 2nd edit of the first novel I did and hope to have most of it done before November. Just decided a couple weeks ago that I wanted to give it another try and going to attempt a mystery. Now I just have to do the research I listed as mytwoblessings Robin
  12. There is one property owner who owns about an acre of land on a frequently traveled street here in Sacramento who went overboard. He has about 100 feet of fencing which he painted white and then had Obama's name stenciled in huge blue letter about 10 times. :eek:Unfortunately I wasn't able to take a picture today. I'm going to try in the next few days. Other than that I really haven't seen a whole lot of yard signs now that you point it out. I'll be glad when the whole thing is over. Robin
  13. I am drawn to blogs with discussions about books, homeschooling, movies. Bloggers that have a sense of humor and are able to show the funny side of life. It's generally common interests or trying to learn something new. I'm in the midst of trying to write a book, plus I read alot (besides doing home school) So I frequent many author blogs and it's fun to talk with them and also see their responses to what I think about their books. Homeschooling blogs let me see what everyone else is doing. I have a long list of bloggers that I frequent weekly - very eclectic group - all listed on my sidebar if your curious. I generally leave comments when I have something to say (positive of course. I try not to leave negative remarks) It's nice when folks leave comments on my blog because it lets me know they liked what I had to say, agree or disagree. HTH Robin
  14. Before the debate I really didn't like either candidate. I am republican and think I have an open mind, but had decided to go with McCain. The lesser of two evils. McCain impressed me during the debate. He has more experience and knowledge and it showed. Makes me feel better about my choice. I made a few comments about the debate on my blog if you would like to read them. (link below) Thanks for the fact checking link. Robin
  15. Ours is up now. Off to visit your blogs and see what y'all are doing. :seeya: Have a good weekend. Robin
