  4. Thanks I will have to look for some young cam jensen. Unfortunately my library is, well, lacking...early reader section is small and when I asked about some books, I was scoffed at ..(they were not "literature enough") Yeap I am looking for a new library. This is the same library that charges $1 per hold and $5 for a ILL. I did get a rainbow fairy book, which she would love, but I'm looking for books a bit "smaller" & "easier". She likes to read "chapter books" like big brother, but gets frustrated if it's tooo long.
  5. We do have some cam jensen... have to pull those out. Looks like we'll be adding some Cobblestreet Cousin books... DD loved the look of those. Also some milly-molly-mandy...and Mandy... We are reading Little house books now.. will have to check out some of the chapter books.. We have MOST of the boxcar books.
  6. Thanks everyone, off to google (or amazon , is that a verb:lol:) some titles;)
  7. Ok, So I searched and couldn't find any thread similar... My DD6 is getting ready for early chapter books (beyond those level 2 & 3 early readers). I have tons that interested DS8 but are not her taste. We have magic tree house, magic school bus.. she's not interested in either. I looked at Junie Jones and ...um..NO. boyfriend/girlfriend??? Not at 6.. I also prefer to avoid bad attitudes, disrespect to parents and lying.. She liked amelia bedlia (sp?)..anything fairy, unicorns, ponies She wants a main girl character.. I saw some early chapter nancy drew books, anyone try those?? These are for independent reading, not read alouds..any recommendations?
  8. My twins are also 3 and I will say I dreamed of having a cute little "class" of 2, but reality is they each have different strengths.. DD3 is the verbal child and repeats EVERYTHING...obviously auditory DS3 is the spatial/visual kid I just involve them both in both things, like read 1 book to both, but DS is more interested in the picture, and DD in listening and repeating the story back. DS can do 24pc puzzles in seconds flat, DD still struggles some with puzzles. DS and DD both know shapes, colors, letters, but DS is not talking yet, so he can only point, circle, etc. Pretty sure DD will read first. DS can "count" higher than her though (on games on the computer is how I know, exercises like put 5 stars on the picture and he gets is right almost every time). I hope to do 1 program, but appeal to each child's strengths.
  9. Yeah, to bad the package was scanned.. but if you have a name and number at the PO I would just escalate and give ebay the info. You don't need to pay anything. Not the postage due or to ship it back. He's upset, because he will have to pay to get it back from the PO, that is why he is trying to talk you into shipping it back to him. How did he even mail it with that much postage due:001_huh:? I guess he printed postage online and underestimated the weight?:glare:
  10. We have almost all the leapster stuff also. If you are worried about costs, let me say I almost always find lots of games etc on ebay for cheap, just not this time of year lol. Prices from now till Feb on ebay are great for selling but not so much for buying. I haven't tried the leappad, but was tempted lol... actually just sold a bunch of the original leapster games and bought more explorer games. I finally got oldest a DS and let's just say I am less than impressed. For the money, it doesn't have a lot of features I like on the explorer. only 1 kid sign in so dd can't take a turn, graphics are ok, not great, no games already loaded on it. Game selection is ok, not great (we don't do pokeman, fighting games, etc). A couple times littes got a hold of it and somehow deleted all of his game progress. DS got it as his choice for reaching a big goal. When DD hits there I will suggest a tablet (android, we are a no apple product house :) )
  11. sorry, not fun but LOL..been there.. I have to be VERY specific (usually show him the empty bottle/package or text him a pic) Before kids, I was VERY sick with the flu and I asked him to get 7up (specifically) and saltines ...he got:... Sprite (not great for upset tummy in my experience) and Ritz (DEFINTELY not good for tummy) but he got me a dvd of some historical romance so all was good.. He probably got the pizzas cuz those were what he wanted lol DH does that with ice cream all the time (gets his favorite flavor)
  12. What did you show at the SS office when you changed your last name? As far as I know, only way to change name on a passport, is marriage cert, divorce decree, other court doc showing reason for name change.
  13. biscuit dough will freeze raw just fine and then bake while the inside heats up. Phyllo dough I don't think would work...but I haven't tried it. I am just envisioning it getting too soggy when frozen ...maybe someone else here has tried it..
  14. Based on my friend's experience, if Bolivia says they do not recognize dual citizenship, I don't think they would grant your son a passport. But only way to know is call their embassy here and ask. In my friend's case there was a time limit for how long she had to register births of her children and request a passport for them.
  15. I know kohls carries gold toe socks for men, so based on this size chart (http://www.zappos.com/measure-your-shoe-size) I think he could wear the smaller men's size socks.
  16. I would think twice about anything curry, even if your friend loves it, because her baby might not LOL Maybe something simple..and I would bake then freeze, then deliver it to her. Some nights she might not have time to bake it from raw till done, but reheating would be faster. I used to get those aluminum disposable pans with lids (foil lids, not the see through plastic ones) from restaurant supply stores and just write on the lid with a sharpie what was in it and directions for reheating. I would have loved a batch of muffins, etc frozen that I could reheat in the micro for breakfast etc. just an idea :)
  17. Anyone can suggest a family friendly movie for tonight... mind is drawing a blank...:001_huh: I was thinking some funny martial arts movie?? any FF jackie chen movies?? I'm too sleepy... it has to appeal to ds 8 and dd 6 mainly. :bigear:
  18. Well it's gotten to the point that I often skip lunch (just for me, not the kids) and at dinner, I serve them first and eat if there are leftovers (after putting aside a portion for DH to take for lunch, because we certainly can't afford for him to eat out!). I haven't told anyone that IRL. and the kids/dh don't notice because we all eat on different schedule. Kinda depressing. And no we don't qualify for any aid (WIC, etc). And I refuse to buy unhealthy food just because it is cheap and try to keep it whole foods:meat/veges/pot or rice, you know basic stuff. I started using 3/4 lb where I used to use 1lb ground meat in recipes. ughhh..
  19. Just looked at their website, I would go somewhere to experience some seasons lol. Seattle, Spokane, Portland??
  20. Yep, CA here and gas is 4.59 for the cheapest... 4.64 in some areas... My van just went haywire (electrical prob) so I'm not driving anyway. Need to decide whether to repair it or just get a new one... And food, well, we don't buy "extras" chips, snacks, juice. Just the basics... cheese (which my dc love, but is killing me), fruit/veges, rice,meat...oh and 6 gallons of milk a week.. I do pricematch and use coupons if I have them, but there aren't many for the things we buy. DH can't understand why $600/month isn't enough for the 6 of us including food/household :( Dh has had a paycut the last 3 years... just another 5% in July...And he took this job because it was secure work, despite being lower paying than others in his field, plus it had a pension. Don't even get me started there, his required contribution has multiplied over the years and employer contribution has decreased... and the employer "borrowed" money from the pension fund and keeps delaying repaying it...ugh I am thankful he has a steady job and good HMO healthcare...we have several friends w/o work and those with minimal work and to be honest I don't know HOW they do it.. rent for a 2bd apt here is $1300 in the ROUGH area.
  21. Speaking of holds, does everyone's library charge for holds? They charge $1 !!! We just moved here and that floored me.. I guess I got spoiled by my old library?? They only charged you .25 if you placed a hold and didn't pick it up and check it out within 10 days. And Inter-library loans are $5 !!!! Maybe I need to find a new library?
  22. Survivors... that was the one I watched a while back.. Then there was Jericho... Anyone watch that really old movie from the BBC called Threads from 1984?? It's on youtube.... depressing
  23. I about fell of the table when she told me... so hold on..it might be a wild ride:lol: And I had to go get a pair of maternity jeans the 9th week, cuz elastic wasn't cutting it. I mean you could feel my uterus protuding and I am plus sized to begin with lol. When my MIL flew in when I was put on bedrest at 30 weeks... she almost fell on the floor shocked at how big I was.
  24. Based on what you just added, I guess I would be looking at getting a second consult from another attorney and focus on the smoking around baby and carseat issues. Maybe you can get supervised visits? Maybe the clause can be removed if it can be shown that grandparents are not following safety protocol?
