  1. Others have given good advice; I just want to say congratulations!!!
  2. When I was a teenager, my mom found a book about acne at the library. I wish I could remember the title! The regimen suggested in the book *dramatically* improved my complexion. I remember feeling so happy to have smooth skin again! The regimen was simple: after gently washing my face in the evening, I'd rub it all over well with an ice cube for a couple minutes, and then pat it dry. Then, I'd apply a thin layer of 2.5% or 5% benzoyl peroxide gel (not cream) over my entire face, not just the portions with current breakouts. Within a month, most of my acne was totally gone, and the rest was greatly improved. As long as I religiously kept up with the regimen, I was fine. Good luck!
  3. I *really* dislike going to the dentist, but I'm glad I had my wisdom teeth out. If they're bothering your daughter, she's going to be much more comfortable without them. Just have her put under; it'll be done quickly and she won't know a thing about it! Seriously, if she's extremely nervous, sedation dentistry is the way to go! [Edited to add: I mean actual IV sedation. The little pills did nothing for me.]
  4. I'd use it. I might smell it first.
  5. How wonderful!! Congratulations!
  6. How exciting!!! Congratulations on your new family member! Definitely get some dog treats, too. Another vote for Angus, here!
  7. We also have a Lazy Boy full size sofa with dual recliners, and it fit down our basement stairs. Our stairs are tricky, because they turn halfway down. You just need to measure really well first. Good luck!
  8. California Baby bubble bath is SLS free and available in an unscented version. It's very gentle and non-irritating, but unfortunately also very pricey. In my area, it's cheapest at Target.
  9. Praise God!!! Have a WONDERFUL weekend! :001_smile:
  10. I don't have any experience with anxious cats, but I will say that neither the vest nor the pheromones worked for our anxious dog. However, I do know they work for some people, so I wouldn't rule them out entirely. I second the recommendation for Feliway if you want to try pheromones. If you want to try a vest, this company has a money-back guarantee: http://www.thundershirtforcats.com/ This is the brand we tried, and we were able to easily return it for a refund when it didn't work for us. They have a code for free shipping right now, so really all you have to lose is a couple bucks for return shipping if it's not effective. I hope you find a solution!
  11. I'm not familiar with rescueme.org, but petfinder.com is a similar organization, and I would feel comfortable donating to them. Petfinder has been around a long time, and I think all my local shelters list their available pets on it. If it were me, I would probably donate directly to a specific animal rescue rather than to an umbrella organization, but I *applaud* any effort to help homeless animals! This is my favorite rescue; I have no connection to them other than supporting their work and their philosophy: Pets Alive
  12. Also bowing out, at the OP's request.
  13. Born infants, like unborn children, *cannot* sustain themselves outside the womb. They *still* require sustenance from adults. Do they therefore have no right to legal protection?
  14. The problem is simply that there is another human being to consider; the mother's body isn't the only one in question. There's no avoiding that. As I asked before, what difference between the unborn child and the born child makes the former unworthy of legal protection? And to answer your question--I don't believe anyone ever has a moral right to intentionally kill another innocent human being. Parents of born children are also "forced" to care for them, by law.
  15. For those who say they are pro-life but don't think abortion should be legislated--can you see that there seems to be a logical inconsistency in your beliefs? I assume that you *are* in full support of laws which forbid killing children *after* they are born. In that case, we are also legislating morality; we are saying that it is wrong to kill an innocent human being. I see only four differences between an unborn child and a born child: size, level of development, environment, and degree of dependence. Which of those differences makes it acceptable to kill the unborn child, but not the born one? Is a small child less human than a large adult? Is a less developed toddler less human than a more developed adolescent? Does our environment determine our humanness? Am I less human in an oxygen tent? What about our dependency? A newborn is entirely dependent on adults for the sustaining of their life. Left alone, they will die. Does that give us the right to kill them? To me, it makes no logical sense to say that you are opposed to abortion because it is the taking of an innocent human life, but then say people should still have the legal right to do it. If you are opposed to killing children *after* their birth, then, please, either be consistent, or be willing to say exactly what it is about the unborn that causes them to be unworthy of legal protection.
  16. What a sweetie! If your allergies become bothersome, bathing your dog once or twice a week can really help! You just have to be sure to use a mild, moisturizing shampoo, as dry skin produces more dander. Congratulations on your new family member!
  17. Wonderful! :hurray: Hoping you find the perfect addition to your family.
  18. Thank you so much for the update. You did all you could and were absolutely right to take him back to the vet. Hoping he will pull through! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  19. Several posters have shared their pro-choice views, so I will add my perspective as someone who is unapologetically and unequivocally pro-life. I would personally think through the situation you described in this way: If the mother of a newborn infant was in a life-threatening situation which was somehow exacerbated by the existence of her child, I would never advocate killing the child to save the mother. However, if the child's death was unintentionally caused by essential efforts to save the mother's life, and if every reasonable effort was made to save the life of the child as well, I wouldn't consider that a moral wrong. I would apply this same thinking to an unborn child and a pregnant mother, as there is nothing magical about a trip down the birth canal. In my view, the child is just as human, inside the womb or out, smaller or bigger, less developed or more developed, more dependent or less dependent.
