  1. Oh that sucks!! I was only on page 2 but there was so much good advice. Why do threads have to be deleted????
  2. This is hard hard hard. When I was doing my undergrad, I was dating a guy who was getting an engineering degree. I remember making fun of him for not being able to work while going to school. Well.......many of my friends told me to shut the heck up bc I didn't know what I was talking about - engineering degrees are hard! So, kudos to your husband for being able to do it. Double, tipple kudos to you - I think being a caretaker of a person doing something hard is even harder, not even counting kids and everything else. I think complaining is just fine (@Pen - I love that you posted on this thread) and I think it can be helpful and therapeutic! I wish you strength and health!!!!!
  3. I have no advice or anything really useful to say except - I get it. And it sucks to feel the way you do. Go punch something? Or have some chocolate? Or just sit and wallow? I don't know....
  4. I never needed my TV shows to "imitate life" and I don't need that now. Unfortunately, my addiction to TV might be stronger than my dislike of shows trying to jam every single "issue of the day" into their plot lines. I have been binging on lots of Netflix but I will probably go back to watching new stuff. I have way too many shows on my TiVo to start recording whenever new episodes will pop up. On a side note...if the masking thing continues...I wonder if Hollywood will ease up on their plastic surgeries.....
  5. I think there are all kinds of different types of complaining. There are ones that perpetual and ones that are situational and ones that just venting. And then there is the opposite - people who think that complaining in any form = being utterly ungrateful. I usually call my mom on my to work. And she usually asks me how is everything, how are the kids. So, I remember very vividly when one day I said how crappy my day was going. I got in return how I should just thank G-d about EVERYTHING and I shouldn't be so negative. Yeah...I hung up. If she wasn't my mother, I would have had some strong words before I hung up. While perpetual complainers are annoying, I don't trust people who consider complaining a sin (not in a religious context). I strive for balance. Its ok to moan and groan for something trivial and it's ok to be thankful for something trivial too. Let's not go to extremes.
  6. Can you post a link to your nebulizer? So....as anecdotal evidence goes...When I was a kid, I had lots of sinus problems. Once my parents started taking me to Black Sea every summer for about a month - it got much much better. I don't know how much iodine I was ingesting through swimming there for a month, but I know that I got much better. It was a well known "remedy" where I am from.
  7. Well, I have never kept up with themes of BW and not about to start now! lol I am reading How to Stop Time by Matt Haig. I was never a fan of time travel or science fiction, but this is a really really good and smart book. I am about half way through
  8. Can I complain first? Why do they have to be mutually exclusive? lol
  9. I didn't other responses but will be for sure!! Mine is probably boring and has already been mentioned, but here goes I have never stopped stocking up on food and paper and cleaning products (my budget can attest to that) For the first time ever I signed up kids for on-line classes I am coming up with gazzilion plans for cleaning and decluttering the house I came up with a list of weekly "hikes" but we are in New England and I am a wimp, so we'll see how that goes I also want this winter to be a good re-set for our homeschool and life in general (since we won't have any distractions of co-op and activities). That's about it. ETA: I want to start knitting again!! Ever since the knitting store that was holding my hand closed out, I haven't felt confident enough in myself to knit anything, but I want to do it!
  10. That's what I do and my floor is clean for about....nope, not even 5 minutes after. There was a short lived time when I kept it super clean for about a week. I was exhausted. I lowered my standards....
  11. I am not a fan of govt mandates in general.
  12. I hope you weren't implying that about me.
  13. I don't know how deep into discussion you want to get into....but if you do, I'll be happy to share my thoughts. I also don't want to derail OP's thread.
  14. I wouldn't report it to the govt! For many reasons, one of which is that I don't think govt should be allowed to mandate it in non-govt businesses in the first place. I have, however, complained to store managers about their gross employees. But I have done that before Covid also.
  15. I didn't listen to the debate (I never listen to politicians talk) but know the term from watching lots of TV. I never used it myself bc I don't have immigration conversations with people - makes my blood pressure go up. But I thought everyone knew what it means......the things I learn on this board 🙂
  16. Based on his job performance that wasn't it.
  17. Well....I never would even consider this until I was contacted by the mother of one of my employees!! I wasn't even 30 yrs old myself and long before I had kids! I couldn't believe it at first, I honestly thought I was being pranked or something... But nope. She called me to tell her that her son has a cold and can't come in and wanted to make sure that it won't count against him......
  18. Took my kid. I did the first appt Monday morning. Masks on everyone, I made sure I actually saw them wiping everything he touched even though it was Monday morning. I didn't let them close an office door. I paid while he was trying on glasses just to minimize time It was beg of September, so they had area outside for him to try glasses. I wasn't going to make another stop to get his glasses, so we ordered it there. Overall I felt we did it in SEAL operation kind of mode - in and out with nothing left behind. When his glasses were ready we didn't even go inside, they brought it outside, it was a nice day. We were done in less than 5 min
  19. As long as something passes the smell and slime test, I am usually good. But I never know if produce that is going bad would be ok to put in soups or something. I always wonder if it will give us upset stomach or something....
  20. I am very superstitious and don't want to jinx it but it's been fine with Aetna. I thank G-d daily that they are covering my DH's very expensive MS meds. Our rates have been going up, but I don't know if its them or my DH's company. We have high premiums and high deductibles. I don't think we ever went out of network, but I can't imagine who is not taking Aetna so I can't imagine a lot of drs being out of network...
  21. I disagree with it. I only have anecdotal evidence for my opinion, but I have seen numerous times when both of those scenarios can be an advantage or disadvantage. I think a lot hugely depends on the person and that's why I just cringe when I hear people say that someone is just lucky or unlucky.
  22. As I have been thinking about this more and more, yes, sometimes it's leftovers mashed potatoes or rice or pasta, but mostly it's produce. Bc evidently my children are not unique in like item X one week and not touching it the next.... Also, bc I am so into feeding everyone tons of produce, I have a tendency to buy a large variety. May be I need to keep it to a few items a time.
  23. We are not either. I tried to do a good job at keeping inventory, but I never stick with it. Both, freezer and pantry. I feel like writing down stuff in the fridge is a waste of time....like I should be able to take a look and just see what's there.
  24. I am not going to tell you how much money we spent on our dishes. Let's just say that dishes not made in china and not containing harmful things are not cheap or easy to find.
