  1. He sounds fairly normal to me. What time did you drop him off? That pickup time would be really early for the vets I've done business with. Most want them to be dropped off between 7:30 and 8:00 and pick up is 3:30 at the very earliest, but the most common pickup time is 4:30-5:30. So I'm not surprised he was still really loopy at 1:45. Anyway, I've had dogs who slept like the dead from pickup until the following morning, and ones who were pretty much their normal, raring-to-go selves at pickup. There's a fairly big range of normal, I think.
  2. Eight to ten people injured (AP) I try not to get numb to these things, but . . I'm certainly not the least bit surprised. At this point one almost expects these things to happen.
  3. I know a couple who are flying to Texas within the next few days, staying for a week. They said their rental car costs more than their round trip airfare. So I don't think it's eclipse price gouging.
  4. The health system that our doctors belong to guarantees sick visits within 24 hours. That doesn't mean it will be with your provider or even someone else within that practice, though. It could be someone at another practice or one of their walk-in clinics. We've thankfully never had to see if or how it actually works.
  5. Said "happy anniversary" to each other and went on about our regular schedule, as far as I remember. Can you tell we're not the sentimental types? 🤣 I hope you have a happy anniversary, whatever you decide to do (or not do 😉).
  6. Of your counties the only ones I'd call central would (maybe) be Randolph. The rest are more western/northwestern or southern piedmont. At least that's how most people who live here refer to them, I think..
  7. Truth. It seems that a lot of people have somehow been convinced that being angry and riled up or afraid all the time is a good or necessary thing. Making someone angry or afraid is the oldest control game in the world. Incite those emotions and you can control people. We need to do a lot of public education on that. As far as the Kelce incident, I haven't watched it and don't know much about him or the coach. I suspect it's a big nothing burger. These are hypercompetitive men competing in the most important game of their season. For some of them it will be the most important and memorable game of their lives. It would almost be weirder if emotions hadn't flared at some point. I come from a family with more than one professional athlete. Behaviors that happen in the middle of a game or event are usually not particularly indicative of that person's behavior overall. I doubt Swift has anything to worry about, and from the little I know she strikes me as a woman who probably knows how to kick him to the curb if he gets out of line. It ain't exactly like she's dependent on him in any way.
  8. I went from New Balance and Brooks to Orthofeet. I suspect I'll stick with them from now on.
  9. We have lots of little birds that I don't know the names of (sparrows? wrens?). Cardinals are probably our most common feeder birds. It's normal for us to have six to ten at our feeders at any given time, but especially early morning and late afternoon. Lots of chickadees and finches, various types of small woodpeckers and other clinger types, doves. We have three crows who visit a couple of times a day.
  10. There's been at least one encouraging study on the possible benefit of Miyarisan for cancer patients on immunotherapy. Many of those patients on the cancer board I belong to use it. Amazon and EBay are the most popular places for buying it, I think.

I agree with these. I do wash my hands every time I use the bathroom. I will often use the bathroom, wash my hands, walk into my kitchen without touching anything else, and then wash my hands again before starting food prep. But it's not like they could have washed their hands, opened the doors from both the bathroom and the convenience store, and opened their truck door and still had really clean hands, you know? I hope anyone who is preparing food washes their hands immediately before touching utensils, pots/pans, food. Washing them five minutes before and touching multiple things in the interim isn't really helpful for food prep cleanliness.
  12. I have sauerkraut on my lunch salad every day, both for the probiotic benefit and also because it really is a yummy addition. But you do need to make sure it's a good kind like Bubbies or Wildbrine.
  13. This is how I feel in August. Like I can't take one more day of the hideously glaring, baking hot sun and disgusting high humidity. I want to find a dark, cool cave and stay in it. Reverse SAD is real, too. All that to say -- you have my sympathy.
  14. Agreed. It's one reason we love our little neighborhood so much. People aren't annoyingly nosey, but many of us do keep an eye out for each other.
  15. I’m on a very expensive medication that requires refrigeration. Plus without power for our septic pump we’d be able to flush/use water for about three days at most. Those are the two factors that led us to get a generator.
  16. We have a gas powered generator and keep enough gas on hand to run it for at least a few days. We had a plug installed on our house so we can plug the genny directly in--no running power cords to a handful of things. It can run both of our fridges, the freezer, the septic pump, all of our lights, charge devices, etc. It can't run the big draws like oven, HVAC or water heater. We also have a camp stove and keep plenty of propane for it. And we keep a good supply of non-perishable food. I have no desire to cook gourmet meals if the power is out. PB sandwiches, cheese and crackers, canned/pouch foods like tuna, beans, soups. Plenty of coffee and juices. Those are what I aim to keep stocked.
  17. Our county does, but you have to sign up for it. It's basically a "code red" type alert system. I only ever remember it being used for severe weather. The sign up directions are displayed prominently on the county website.
  18. I didn’t think it was likely a “clear your cache” issue since I couldn’t get in on multiple devices with different browsers, but I tried clearing my laptop just in case. But it didn’t help. I still got the same error message. On my phone I just got a blank screen.
  19. Are we back? I couldn't get in after about 4:00 pm (east coast time) yesterday. But it seems normal now?
  20. And grade. I think a lot of people either don't know or forget how important grade is.
  21. FWIW, I have RA and a significant amount of OA. Tylenol Arthritis works relatively well for me. You could also try Tramadol.
  22. I don't know if it's changed, but it used to be that you just needed the rabies certificate. It has to be the actual certificate with a vet's signature on it as well as all the info about the vaccine (manufacturer, batch number, etc.). When we went across the border with our dogs I also took all their vaccination records, but I always brought those along on any/every trip. Bringing commercial dog food back across the border (coming into the US) can be an issue sometimes, but I don't know if it is currently.
  23. I'm not going to argue with you about a situation about which we know few details. I'm sure no expert, but I've learned a whole lot about cancer and diagnostics since DH has been living with it (stage IV at diagnosis) for almost seven years now. Some blood work takes days or even weeks, results cannot be gotten quickly, not for a king or for the poorest person on earth. As far as a biopsy--there are types of cancer where rushing to biopsy would be a huge red flag for a doc who didn't know what he was doing. It's not always the right thing.
