  1. Is this what you are looking for? http://www.lulu.com/product/e-book/grammar-stage-memorization/631808
  2. Thanks Ellie. Now I just need to figure out what level to place her in. I did not see a placement test on their website, so I am assuming they do not have one.
  3. If there is enough writing in R&S, I would be ok just using that. She will definitely be doing writing in History, Science and Bible as well. But this will be for high school, so I wasn't sure if there was enough writing in it to satisfy that portion of her English credit.
  4. Thanks for the response Ellie.:001_smile: That was one of the reason I liked R&S better. However, we had planned to do writing separate from whatever english/grammar program we choose anyway. Any thoughts about what level I would start her in with R&S?
  5. Can anyone compare the two? We have Applications of Grammar book 1 that dd will be finishing this year. (8th grade) I have been reading posts about R&S here and see that many have not gone past grade 7 or 8. (At least in the posts I was reading.) I like App. of Grammar ok, but I am not thrilled with it. What level of R&S would you recommended from here? :confused1: :bigear:
  6. Bright Ideas Press. Publishers of Mystery of History, All American History, Christian Kids Explore series and a few others.
  7. We are considering this for dd for high school. You would have to add in labs however. http://www.pacworks.com/pages/curriculum.html#_ipc
  8. All About Spelling. :hurray: I ordered this last Thursday and I received it yesterday!! I think this is the quickest I have ever received an order from any company! We can't wait to get started. My son is very visual and hands-on. I really like what I am seeing so far. I think this will be perfect for my ds.
  9. Here is the link to the MOH 1 yahoo group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MysteryofHistory1/ It looks like there are many different schedules there that combine MOH 1 with SL core 1. The group is pretty active, so I am sure someone there can help as well.
  10. Well I guess that won't be much help then. I will be following this thread as well, we will be doing the middle ages next year. I would like to have something on hand.

  12. I have found some really great sites on this board. Hannah HS Helps was definitely one of them. So glad you like it. :hurray:
  13. Oops, that wasn't the home page. Just in case it doesn't get you to where you need to go to join, here is the main page. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Hannah_hs_helps/ It shouldn't take long for them to approve you to join. I remember it beign very quick.
  14. You can read the Burgess books and a whole lot more at this site for free. http://www.mainlesson.com/main/displayarticle.php?article=feature I believe they have quite a few animal/nature fiction titles.
  15. The yahoo group Hannah HS Helps, has some really nice cards that are similar to the VP cards. Right now she has cards that go along with volumes 1 - 3 of SOTW. There are also memory cards for scientists done like the history cards. Not to mention a ton of other stuff. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Hannah_hs_helps/messages
  16. Here's a free resource I learned about from the boards several months back. You can find it on Lulu.... http://www.lulu.com/content/e-book/grammar-stage-memorization/596907
  17. I remembered there being something about not doing the book out of order. This question was asked on their website and here is the response from Durell Dobbins who wrote the curriculum. "Can we skip Year 1 and start with Year 2?The Rainbow curriculum is written from the perspective that an understanding of physics is fundamental. The program then builds on that foundation into a study of chemistry, which is an application of physics, and then into the study of biology. Because our program is structured to build on concepts, beginning with the Year 2 curriculum defeats the purpose. Also, our Year 2 program requires the use of many of the items from the Year 1 lab kit.+"
  18. Some of which are still a ways off..... New Moon Eclipse Voyage of the Dawn Treader Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides The Hobbit Clash of the Titans Alice and Wonderland The Blind Side The Lightning Thief Christmas Carol
  19. Thank you Tonya. I had decided that AAS was the best choice for us. Reading your post cements it even further. :001_smile:
  20. I had bought the TE, DVD and all of the blocks used. We used this alone until the new student book we bought from MUS arrived. Using the TE alone was NOT the same as using the program in its entirety. I would recommend getting the student book.
  21. Our library carries Cathy Duffy's book. I used this a lot when we first started with dd. Ds is totally different. I am starting all over again with researching curriculum for him.
  22. Julie..do you have a Barnes and Noble near you? If so, see if they have a copy of FLL in the store. (ours has a copy of each of the FLL levels. If not they will order one in for you. Once it comes it they will call you (or send you an email) and you can look it over. If it is not what you are wanting you do not have to buy it. They will just stick it on their shelf to sell. It always helps me to have something in my hand to make my decisions. You could also go to the GWG site and print out the samples that they give you. Take them in with you when you go to Barnes to look at FLL. Then you could do some side by side comparison. GWG was one of the options that I was considering before I went with FLL. But FLL just seemed to be a better fit for ds right now. It seems so easy, but yet he retains and learns so much. I am very happy with our decision.
