  1. I bought my ds (then 5) left-handed scissors last year from Rainbow Resource. I checked with our office supply stores and no one carried them. Plenty of other places carried the kind that specify they are good for right & left-handed. They did not work for my left-handed little guy. The left-handed pair made a drastic improvement in his cutting skills! It looks like Rainbow only carries the pointed tip now, but Amazon also has left handed scissors, both pointed and blunt.
  2. If you go to CBD you can get a good look inside the BJU texts. Here is the 3rd grade science book. It might work for what you are looking for. You could always add living books from the library to flesh it out. http://www.christianbook.com/science-grade-3-student-third-edition/9781591668466/pd/257147?event=CF#curr HTH
  3. That sounds like it would be perfect to use after MOH 3! Thank you for the information! :001_smile:
  4. I purchased the text and activity book. The activity book is perforated and three whole punched. So it is really easy to remove pages from the book that you need to copy, like maps and such. It definitely completes the program. The CD is the same as the activity book. What is it that Notgrass is putting out? Where did you see the information?
  5. We are using MOH 3 and will then move on to American. We love volume 3.
  6. I covered my book in heavy contact paper and bought the reproducible CD to make copies instead of the book. I know this is more expensive but I like the ease of just putting the CD in the computer and printing what I need. I also like the way the books fits on my shelf instead of a binder. But that's just me. :)
  7. I like the looks of Knowledge Quest much better than Uncle Josh's!! And Home School in the Woods :drool5:, they look gorgeous! But Knowledge Quest looks like they have more. :confused1: Decisions, decisions.
  8. Have you looked at Trail Guide to US Geography by Geography Matters? You can see a sample here: http://www.geomatters.com/products/details.asp?ID=70 From the website: Includes 5-minute daily drills, mapping, building a geography notebook, and a wide variety of additional project choices. Students learn capitals, place location, climate, physical geography, and much more. They recommend using Uncle Josh's Outline Maps with it.
  9. but we may be trying this one soon. NIrV Adventure Bible for Early Readers. ages 6-10 You can find it at christianbook.com. Stock number WW715480 I would also be curious to hear what anyone else comes up with. :)
  10. In TT Pre-Algebra and above the chapter tests are in the thin booklet that comes with the set. It is the Answer Key and Test Bank. It has the answers (not the solutions) to the entire text, the chapter tests and the answers (again not solutions) to the tests. HTH:)
  11. These sites have some. http://www.edupics.com/en-coloring-pages-pictures-photo-history-c116.html http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/history_coloring_pages.htm You can also go to google images and search for a picture there.
  12. I don't know anything about Living Memory. But here is a free online file about Grammar stage memorization by Hannah Wilson. I believe I learned about it here on WTM. http://www.lulu.com/content/e-book/grammar-stage-memorization/596907 HTH :001_smile:
  13. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but I have not see it anywhere else. (except used on this board:)) Shipping straight from the company is not expensive and they were very fast!
  14. My daughter really likes her bible - Girls Life Application Study Bible - NLT http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=306466&netp_id=422190&event=EFIN She also enjoys The Message Remix.
  15. Thank you everyone for your help!:) I think I will go check our local teachers supply store and Barnes and Noble before I make my final decision. Thanks again!
  16. You could do Wordly Wise with just the student book and the answer key. The cost of both is under $11.00 at RR. We have been pleased with WW. Sorry, I do not know anything about the Evan-moor book.
  17. And..... if you go to wordlywise3000.com there are also games that you can play with each level book. I have never used the teachers guide. Do you find it well worth the money?
  18. This is how we use WW: Monday - make flash cards - word on one side, definition on the other. Tuesday - drill with cards Wednesday - drill with cards, do 1 activity Thursday - review cards, do 2 activities Friday - do remaining 2 activities You can test your child on the last day with the flash cards. Tell them the word, have them give you the definition. Then switch it around and do the opposite. We have found doing it this way helps with retention.
  19. Thank you for the suggestions. :) I now have History Pockets, Literature Pockets and FIAR on my list to look at. Anyone know of an easy open and go lesson plan for the Parables of Jesus?
  20. I need some co-op ideas for grades K-3. It is only for part of the year, so we will only meet 12 times. I need something that doesn't involve too much planning. We already have classes for just play time, outdoor games, music, and art. I need something academic for this age group. I would like to keep the class affordable so more families can participate. I would appreciate any suggestions you might have. Thanks in advance!!
  21. I like the American history books by Edward Eggleston. A First Book in American History even has questions and narration prompts at the end of each chapter. You can read this entire book for free online to decide if you like it before you purchase it. Here's the site: http://www.mainlesson.com/display.php?author=eggleston&book=first&story=_contents (by the way, how do you post a link instead of the entire address?)
  22. Oooh, I forgot about AP&P. I agree this one would be much better than Our Nation..... Also very inexpensive.
  23. Christian Liberty Press sells a very inexpensive choice for American History for that grade level. It is called Our Nation Under God. It is a workbook and text all in one book. You can purchase the student book, teacher's manual and test packet for about $13 new. It is sold on many sites; Rainbow Resource and christianbook.com just to name a couple. You should be able to look inside the book at both sites. RR lists it as a 2nd grade curriculum. But I have heard of people using it even in the 4th grade. You could also simply check out books from your library on your child's reading level. Biographies, historical fiction, etc... You could even follow the same timeline that your 5th grader is on in AAH. There are also many free titles available on American History at this website: http://www.mainlesson.com/displaybooksbytitle.php
  24. I have not read it, but I know you can find it on christianbook.com and read the first 4 - 5 pages. It is also only $2.99 there. HTH, some.
  25. Wow. Thanks for the heads-up. We have not had this problem, but then again, we've only been using them for a couple of weeks now. I guess I'll be saving up money for the others. I'll be watching for that 50% off coupon as well!:001_smile:
