  1. Have her close her eyes imagine she is somewhere else and just sing. Video tape her? Let her watch and do it over and over.
  2. Where does such a dream hosptial exist? That sounds awesome! That is so cool that they have such nice procedure in place. Hopefully it is a wonderful experience. A squat bar is a bar that attaches to the bed allowing you to hold your self in a squating position while you push the baby out. Allows you to squat in a comfortable place so the doctor is eye level with where the baby is headed....
  3. :grouphug: Is there a reason you can't have a homebirth? I would take some snacks for dh for while you are in labor if you have long labors... I like Depends underwear for afterwards, then nothing gets stained and I just throw it out.. You have a carseat right? A cute sign to put in baby's bassinet with your prefrences, for me it would be something about Breastmilk only and no binkies. Bring to mom if fussy ect. Pack your bag! Hoping your birth is wonderful.
  4. :bigear: I have a sony reader. My rule so far has been free google books only. ;) New books I check out of the library. I haven't run out of stuff to read yet. But I do most of my book shopping at good will and garage and the used boards....
  5. My husband has an ipod. We have wifi so he can surf the web, email, ect with it as well as listen to music. Do you want them that connected? Sony also makes a decent walkman mp3 that works well too. A little less and it doesn't surf the web. You can load, music photos, and videos. Good luck.
  6. The church has been busy buy up the land around the temple. They purchased the old travelodge and the mexican resturant. I believe they either own or will shortly own everything on the block except the post office. :001_smile: Deseret news has the story. Jenn
  7. Signing time.... We filter out some of veggie tales here. We don't believe in the Trinity so we have talked with our kids after they watched on one on St. Patrick. We just made sure our kids know our beliefs and how they differ from veggie tales.
  8. Small Cavities run $110 per tooth. Crowns $1000 or more...ask how I know....We are cavity prone here. We get sealants. Perhaps you could spread it out one kid per month or something. Choose the kid most likely to need it first.
  9. Is it at all loose? If it is have her wiggle it. ;) http://cyberdentist.blogspot.com/2006/03/permanent-teeth-coming-in-behind-baby.html This helped me when we had the issue on front teeth. When is her next appt with the dentist?
  10. :grouphug: A Month ago I was having the same dreams. I came and got awesome suggestions. We do one gold fish per math problem now. It went from 2 hours a page to 15 minutes... We are also doing workboxes and I am timing each box so they have to move on and come back if needed to finish what they didn't do. It seems to help, if he know he has 20 minutes to do X. :grouphug:
  11. You mentioned communication. Do you do any sign with him? I had a late talker and sign helped us so much. We just watched signing time together and learned enough that we could communicate more. It helped a ton. :grouphug:
  12. My dh had multiple surgeries as a kid. He graduated from Berkley was a BA and BYU with a M. ED. I am sure you child is fine. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
  13. Oreo Turkeys...oreo base, frosting, Hershey kiss head, Candy corn feathers, and redhot gobbler.
  14. Memphis, TN. (Bartlett, Millinton, Cordova, Germantown.) No state income tax. Awesome homeschool network. Friendly southern town. Snow is a rarity. There are lots of Baptist Churches and they even have sports teams. I am not sure if they are Reformed but I imagine there is at least one that is...it is the bible belt.
  15. Have you tried any videos from Khan Academy? :grouphug: I tend to lose my patience as I go over and over the word "and" or "the" with a beginning reader....
  16. I don't know the ages of your kids. I was pulled out summer before 9th grade. My parents were fed up with politics and low academic expectations (read we were bored to tears). They didn't play the game of pulling kids out and putting them back in. We found playmates through church and through our homeschool group. I had a social outlet everyday thoughout high school between the two groups. Sometimes more than one. Some parents are fine with the back and forth but I think it is disruptive to both the child and the school. That is just my humble opinion. Did your daughter have a chance to Detox from school, I know a few years ago that was a big part of starting to homeschool was giving the kids a month per grade to adjust to homeschool. I think it is great you are looking at options to have your children more involved in other things. Here are some more ideas, 4-H, Girl Scouts, church, local college kid classes/choir, homeschool coops, Keepers, Boy Scouts (yes older girls can be varsity scouts) and volunteering in your community, local theater, city run sports, church run sports...find their interests and run with it. I had a friend that would seat people at the theater, one that was a docent at the Titanic exhibit that came through (despite being young, his mom was with him so they okay it,) my brother learned to love animals through 4-H and is majoring in it. There are countless ways to socialize and school doesn't have to be one of them. Besides, the only time to socialize as I remember was, lunch, and passing. The rest of the time we were supossed to be listening to the teacher. Good luck in what you decide.
  17. Listening to calm music while walking...I prefer at dusk. Keep your blood sugar normal... snack a lot on healthy things to maintain a steady bloodsugar...think protien and whole grains not sugar/cookies/chocolate. :grouphug:
  18. 8 hour afghan. Use 3 stands of yarn and a Q hook (big blue one) Make the chain as long as you want the afghan, then single or double crochet till it is a wide as you want it. Then make fringe for the sides. I think used 12 skeins....It has been too long.. If you want I'll dig mine out and tell exact measurements.
  19. :grouphug: I often don't post because either what I would say has already been said or I choose to not say anything and keep the peace. I can agree to disagree but I don't wish to get in a war of words over my personal beliefs. I am sorry you deleted your post. From the comments here is my best effort at advice. I will offer that we had a friend keep one child home while the other attended PS. That lasted a semester. Then I believe the girls switched. Then they both are at a Private Christian school. They did what was best for each girl and their family. I hope you have the wisdom and support to do both. :grouphug: Jenn
