  1. Can you post a link. The only sample page I can find is this one, but it doesn't let me try it. It is just demostrating. The one that is on the co-op page is the same. Only demostrating. I would love for one of my kids to try it out. Thanks!
  2. Hmmm.....when I ordered before the 28th of this month (sorry, I didn't realize it's past the 28th:tongue_smilie:) but anyway even though I purchased everything before the sale ended the prices are still the same :glare:. That's weird. I think I'm going to call them tomorrow:confused:
  3. When I spoke to the person at AAS, they did say that my natural speller would probably move through level one faster. Just keep this in mind because you might want to order level 2, since it is on sale right now.
  4. For level one: All About Spelling Level 1 set on sale for $29.95 Letter Tiles also on sale $12.95. I think the regular price is $17.95. Magnet for Letter Tiles (you can also get something close at an office store) The cd-rom is optional.
  5. I ordered the cd-rom but I don't think you have to have it. Check the online sample to see if you really want it.
  6. I was thinking of getting BTC Book 1 for my 2nd grader. He is currently using or will be using in the Fall: WWE1 All About Spelling L-1 Climbing to Good English Bk-1 Explode the Code books 1 1/2, 2 1/2 & book 3 1/2. Total of 3 books Math Do you think it would be too much? I was thinking of maybe doing BTC 3x a week. Thanks!
  7. My 8yr. old reads at at about 5th grade and her comprehension is at high 7th grade. She was working her way through R&S 3 and I had currently purchased BJU 3 for her. But once I got her test scores back, I realized that BJU would be twaddle work for her. I didn't want to purchase another BJU because I didn't have the money and decided I would rather her read books she enjoys (not that she wouldn't have enjoyed BJU she likes those kind of readers) I ended up getting a Progeny Press Guide & Total Language Plus. I wanted her to really did deeper with some of her books. I plan to do about four. 1 TLP & 3PP. I need something that will guide me through things. I do think just reading is fine too, but like I mentioned, I wanted some of her reading to go a little deeper. Especially when she finds a books she really likes she will read fast. Another reason why I chose to go this route. I do think that BJU is great. From the one I bougth I love all the comprehension questions. The stories are interesting ( I have been caught reading the BJU reader:001_huh:) I think it just depends on what your looking for. BJU is great and I'm sure you dd will be reading other books too. HTH,
  8. Those you do need and need to purchase separate. I ordered two sets to teach with four kiddos.
  9. My 10 ds is a horrible speller at a high 1st grade level. I called All About Spelling and they said to start at level one. Even with my 8yr. natural speller he said to start with level 1. The levels are not grade levels. So, I'm starting my 6, 7, 8 & 10yr olds all at level 1 and have the older ones move more quickly. HTH,
  10. If I sign up two that will be 19, anyone ?
  11. I just got mine yesterday and I'm cutting like crazy:lol:. It looks really great. Once I'm done cutting I'll dig deeper into the TM's. Can't wait to start, well, I can wait hee, hee. We start back full swing in Sept. Have fun!
  12. We have been using all three books through out the Summer, but I recently wrote how we will use them for this coming year HERE. HTH,
  13. My kiddos enjoyed R&S.You could use R&S for 1st grade than start Singapore 1A for 2nd grade. This would give your child sometime to get those math facts drilled before starting Singapore. HTH,
  14. Caleb my almost 8yr old and going into 2nd grade (late B-day) would have not been ready last year when he was 7yrs. But Brent my 1st grader who will be 7 years in Oct. would be able to do it, although he is the one using MFW1 so WWE will have to wait until next year. I do think it depends on the child and their writing ability. Yes, writing should be done, but the child needs to be ready for it. If it's whinning and complaining, than that's different. Cutting helps with writing. My kids love to cut up paper and paste it together. Use a whiteboard or chalkboard. Let him use markers. I think that abbeyej gave you lots of great suggestions though :D. HTH,
  15. I will be using WW1 with and 8yr old & WW2 with a 9yr. I would use WW1 with my 1st grader but he will be using MFW1st grade and I think that will be plenty of writing, so he to will use WWE1 when he turns 8rys old.
  16. WP has some that are three holed punched and fit into a binder. You can see them HERE. These are nice because you can fit your notebooking pages in the same binder to. Blessings,
  17. The online ETC are they exactly like the workbooksS? Same pictures??? Still trying to decide. It's not something that we have to have since I have the books, but thought it might be a change.
  18. Thanks for finding this. Have you signed up already? Just wondering:001_smile:
  19. I called EPS and they said it only for one child, so I'll wait on this. I would use if for 3 of my dc. She also said that between the books and the online ETC it might be too much. I'm bummed. I just purchased all the ETC books I would need for 3 of my dc. Last thing; the 1/2 books are not on the ETC online. That's all the info I got :) Blessings,
  20. I have been looking into this too. So can more than one child use it for $60.00? Would it be too much if they are doing the workbooks and the online?
  21. My oldest child Josh didn't start reading until he was 9yrs. old.I mean really reading he could blend but it took him forever to read anything. Compared to his sister who is a year younger. She took off reading at 5yrs. old. I worried a lot about Josh. Thinking I did something wrong, should I put him in school so they could teach him, but than again Annette can read, so it couldn't be all me. If he was in school would he still be so behind?? Does he need his eyes checked?? My dad is dyslexic, can Josh be to? On and on things kept going through my mind. I finally had him take a reading assesment and just like I thought he scored below 2nd grade:001_huh: My soon to be fifth grader read at a 2nd grade level.:confused1: Major concern here. Again more of the above worrying. But not long after we did the reading assessment he started reading the Boxcar Children series. He was reading day and night. I loved it. I had to take the book away from him to come eat dinner. In the back of my mind I still wondered. Is he reading lots of words wrong? What if he learns the words wrong because I couldn't sit in an listen to him read all the time. I would listen sometimes though and he would have trouble decoding. Two months later I decided to see how he was doing and had him tested again. To my relief he tested at or above grade level. In fact he just finished reading "Flaming Arrows" by William O Steel. Yes, he still has a hard time decoding a word now and then but he is improving. Now my third son Caleb, reads at a mid Kindergarten level and I'm not so stressed or worried. We do our lessons from "The Reading Lesson" as he is improving. Well, that's our story of a late reader;) Oh, I almost forgot. He spells at a high 1st grade level and hopefully we can work on that now. Again my dd spells really well. I did pick up some books on boys and how their brain works differently from girls and Dr. James Dobson has lots of info too.
  22. I am currently using The Reading Lesson with my 5, 6 & 7 year olds and my kids enjoy it. I just wrote about it on my blog if your interested click HERE Blessings,
  23. My pre schooler who will be four in Aug. Science-play in the mud, bugs etc. Read Alouds-Journey of Imagination from WP Color a letter page a week from Itchy's Alphabet (his older brother is using this) lots of Dr. Suess Pre Math-it learn his colors & basic shapes play with cars, legos, action figures etc. I'm thinking when he is 4.5 I'll add in pre ETC, Singapore Early Bird & maybe start The Reading Lesson.
  24. I have 3 dc using The Reading Lesson. Once completed they should be reading at a begining 2nd grade level. I was going to have them switch to Phonics Pathway (don't start at the begining though) or start R&S Phonics grade 2 (I love their phonics rule drills) or Books from Heart of Dakota "Emerging Readers" list or one you choose, but this will give you an idea. I plan to use R&S Phonics 2 along with emerging readers with Caleb. My ds was using Phonics Pathway but I switched him TRL and I know he doesn't want to continue with PP.
  25. WP is a great curriculum, especially with trying to combine. The Brooks have really worked hard with trying to have your 1st grader through high schooler all learning the same time in history. You can combine them all in Animal Worlds or AS1. Some might say the it would be to light for the 3rd grader, but you have also add in that they will be doing th 3R's too. You can always require more from your 3rd grader if using AW. AS1 would work to. WP books are great because they have pictures:D. Then there is their new program Hidaways which I think can be beefed up since The Story of World books are being used. Again other's would think not. My take on this is History/Science don't have to be waaaay challenging for them to learn. Keep it fun in these younger years. Not easy but enjoyable. HTH, Blessings,
