  1. Thanks for this thread. We will be starting this in the Fall and I was wondering the same thing. I sold my first copy and recently picked up another :001_huh: Hopefully we'll do it this year. I did find a schedule some where. I think it was on the MFW 1st Grade YahooGroup. We are using MFW1st grade. Blessings,
  2. I get so excited about their books, readers etc. and lots of times I'm learning things too and it's exciting. I think the kiddos see it. We also let them know that in order to do God's work in the future they need to learn their math, spelling etc. We do everything for the Lord including our studies is what I tell my dc. Blessings,
  3. I know, I can't wait to see them. I would love to use them with my older student.
  4. Thank you, Ellie :) I'm so glad. I don't want to add anymore programs;) My ds has not done that much writing in the past. Some copywork but that's about it and that was twice a week of a Bible passage. Will R&S English 5 teach him to write or does it expect him to have some writing background? TIA,
  5. My oldest son (5th grade) will use R&S 5 for English this year. Do you think there is enough writing in the program or will I need a separate writing program? Thanks!
  6. I think sometime in 2009. Next Spring or Summer. Can't remember.
  7. Here is a recent thread about ETC Online.
  8. The Rose Years, Caroline Years etc. are the ones. THey are taking out about a 100 pgs. per book. Once I found out I started searching high & low for them. I finally got the whole set. So much for adding them to my collection slowly.
  9. I was thinking about this too, but after looking at it I'm not sure it could be used for reading. I know the Author has said it could, but like johanna said, it looks like it would be slow. Maybe you can contact the author and ask her how you can make it work as a reading program. Blessings,
  10. I like the New American Cursive or Calvert Cursive. There's not as many strokes as a lot of cursive programs. More child friendly. Wish I would have used this with my two older ones. HTH,
  11. My 2nd grader Spelling AAS Level 1 Reading- The Reading Lesson once done R&S Reading Writing- WWE Workbook 1 Phonics-R&S 2 & ETC 1 1/2, 2 1/2 & 3 1/2 Math- Singapore 1B/2A Bible/History/Art/Science MFW 1st Grade (minus the phonics) and listening in on CtG Read Alouds-From SL-Core-4 (when we can fit them in) Learning Spanish & Greek Roots New American Cursive Because I have 5 different grade levels this year he's doing a little bit of this and that. He happens to be a middle child:001_huh: HTH,
  12. When my oldest was a 1st grader I was able to read about 3 hours (we used SL Core-1 along with SOTW) a day, but as more kiddos came along..........:001_huh: I would say at least one chapter book every two weeks or read a chapter a day. HTH,
  13. Yes, I just write them down when they finish. Also if we are using SL, WP or MFW I'll highlight the books we read that year and date it. THis way I don't have to write it all out.
  14. I'm really looking forward to using this spelling program. I'm not a good speller, so is my 10yr old son. My dd is a natural speller. I plan to use it with my natural speller & horrible speller and me:D so a year from now I'll have to give a review. Blessings,
  15. I know four moms who use to be teachers that homeschool their kiddos now.
  16. What does ITBS & WJ-III stand for? Thanks!
  17. I have used their math & reading assessments with four of my dc and it was pretty much on target of where I thought they would be. I plan to use it again next year.
  18. Level one is geared toward a 1st grader, level 2 2nd, level 3 3rd & 4 4th but I'll be using Level 1 for a 2nd grader and so forth. Some people are also using it for their older children, but to answer if it goes along with FLL it does. If using WWE with FLL I would skip the copywork/dictation from FLL. HTH
  19. I was disappointed with these. First because they were folded and the crease cannot be taken out, second they are paper. I thought they would be more sturdy.
  20. My dc 10, 7, 6yrs. loved this book. We just finished it last week. The didn't want me to stop reading it. We had a lot of good discussions with this book. Blessings,
