  1. That person is an ignorant assclown. I've been a nurse for 15 years, and work with neonates. They fight harder to go on living, than most grown-ass adults do. Babies don't give up. They fight it to the end. Even Downs babies. By his logic, a fetus and newborn is the only stage we are a 'person.' When was the last time a fetus committed suicide? Or a newborn willed themselves to die? If a person = a being that wants to go on living, then I've lost personhood a few times, myself, over the years. Dawkins may be a smart dude, I'll give him that. But flaunting these type of shock jock statements designed to whore himself some attention, makes him the Honey Boo Boo of intellectualism, IMNSHO.
  2. I salt my salt. Of course I salt my melon ;)
  3. Thank you, everyone. I have the Fasttrack AB book, and I think it might be short on explanation. Although my brain is post-vacation, so I could just be short on comprehension (along with patience ;) ) lol. I will aim for ten minutes and just do what we can do in that time. Again, thank you! I was starting to regret my purchase :(
  4. Ok, I think I get the flash cards, but when are the power pages supposed to start? Do they need all the words correctly on the power pages before moving on to the lesson? I hope that makes sense :/
  5. This is probably a dumb question, but how do you actually *do* Dancing Bears? Does it only take you 10 minutes a lesson? TIA!
  6. My Facebook page is just that: mine. I can't imagine owing anybody an explanation of how I choose to manage my Facebook content and feed. I get friend requests that I ignore, and I send friend requests that are ignored. I unfriend some people, and some people unfriend me. Heck, sometimes it *is* personal and that is ok. However, I am not obligated to offer an explanation for it. It is what it is. When I find myself getting too involved in Facebook, to the point of upset or hurt feelers, I realize that I need a Facebook break. It should be a fun activity, not a conduit for drama, IMO.
  7. https://web.archive.org/web/20140813192256/http://www.ordo-amoris.com/ This will hopefully take you to the most recently saved version of this blog.
  8. Oh, FFS. What a charmed life this woman must lead for a tattoo to be such a tragedy.
  9. It sounds like an egg within an egg. Definitely not a chick embryo. All sorts of weirdness can happen to an egg before coming out of a chicken. My favorite is the shell-less egg.
  10. Paint it. Definitely, definitely paint it.
  11. Grout Renew. Home Depot carries it. You can paint it on your old grout, and it looks brand new.
  12. The paint won't work on the stove and ovens, as they would need a high heat paint. The dishwasher panel could probably be painted and look ok. Not great, but ok. The fridge would have too much texture for the stainless paint. They have appliance epoxy paint, that is usually white or almond. It works fairly well on fridges, and would work on the dishwasher. It is not designed for use on hot appliances, though. If you are determined to paint, avoid the stainless paint and at least use appliance epoxy. You may not think that you much to lose, but crappy paint can make the whole situation *much* worse. Have you checked craigslist? You can find some good deals on appliances from people upgrading from white to stainless. Habitat Restore or used appliance stores also can have good deals. The best upgrades I have seen, where existing appliances or plumbing fixtures had to stay, are the upgrades that work with the fixtures, instead of pretending the fixtures are different. If you can't beat em, join em. Painting cabinets or walls the color of the offensive fixture, helps the fixture not stand out. Choosing coordinating fabric for curtains helps pull it together. Find some kitschy 70's Pyrex or dishes to accessorize. Embrace the avocado, because it will eventually be back in style ;)
  13. For a tiny area, I would think outside the box. Instead of a couch, I would use comfy armchairs that are easier to move around and rearrange. TV trays in lieu of a dining table. Target and Walmart have small square ottomans that double as extra seating, with the bonus of extra storage space. A dresser to use as a tv console, because it has more storage space. Wall hung shelving to help maximize vertical storage space. Really think about how you actually use that space, instead of how that space is 'supposed' to be used. Lifestyle has a lot to do with it. Some people are big on entertaining, while others (like myself) rarely/never have guests. Sometimes you need to live in a space a little bit before it becomes clear how to best use arrange a space. I'm in the process right now of rearranging some areas, after having lived here over a year.
  14. PF sounds good! My sil is a 4th grade teacher at one of the schools. That location will give you such good proximity to all the doctors and therapies you could hope for. Let me know if you want a hand with moving. I would be happy to help you!
  15. Are you sure that you wouldn't have some lawyer fees? I would clarify this. Either way, I think it sounds like a great option.
  16. A chicken foot. It was cooked and marinated in something. You bite between the joints and sorta nibble off the skin and tissue, then spit the bony part in a napkin. It was really gross.
  17. I have only been drug tested for my white collar jobs. I was tested on hire, and am subject to random testing at any time. I have not been tested in a few years, but that is only by luck of the draw. Illegal drug use isn't the only drug use subject to disciplinary measures. I have to have a current (within one year!) prescription for any controlled substances that I use. Technically, I am in violation whenever I use an ambien or a Vicodin, because my prescription is no longer current.
  18. I thought this was about marijuana, which can, indeed, impact job safety?
  19. Of course they have the right. They can clearly spell out terms of employment and set out a code of conduct for their employees. Considering they are a rather large entity, with plenty of lawyers, I'm pretty sure they are well aware of their rights! I am also well aware of the conduct that is expected of me, on and off the clock. Hell, I have a code of conduct that governs my ability to obtain and keep my licensing. These entities have the right to set and maintain those standards. They have the right to enforce consequences on those that choose to not uphold those standards. I have the right to not renew licensure or to not work for my employer.
  20. I work in a state that has legalized marijuana, but it is still grounds for termination to test positive for it. I think that's stupid, but I don't consider it discrimination.
