  1. :001_huh::glare::lol: This sounds like my dh! Glad to hear Chunky Monkey is not injured and all will be easily (well, sort of...) fixed. What would we do w/o dh's? They keep life interesting, don't they?
  2. Dd14 has a small room, so dh mounted her bed to the wall (like a top bunk but w/o out the bottom bunk. Does that make sense?). She was able to put her desk under her bed and still has room for a book shelp or comfy reading chair. It makes her room seem so much bigger and she loves it!
  3. We were going to start back tomorrow, but the grandparents & cousins decided to come visit for the weekend so we are enjoying our weekend and will start back next Monday. It will probably take us the rest of the week to recover since dc don't get to see their cousins very often, so the try to pack in as much as they can with the time they have.:tongue_smilie:
  4. Thanks! WWS is Writing with Skill, TCW is The Creative Writer (SWB's new writing books that just came out). ALL is Advanced Language Lessons that was supposed to be published in Jan., but I am hearing that it might not be out at all.
  5.:party: I'm so excited about starting these when we go back to school! Just had to share my excitement. Pretty bummed to hear that ALL will not be published, though. :crying: Not sure what we will do there...was really looking forward to using it as well.
  6. Please add me to the list. I am very disappointed that ALL will not be available. I had planned on beginning it with 2 of my dc next month. SWB, if at all possible, I would love to have access to what is completed. Thank you...
  7. That makes a lot of sense. I feel like I'm so far behind! I should have been researching this a couple years ago, but I didn't so now I'm stressing out (dh says I do this too much :D) trying to figure out how to make this work for dd & what classes will be best for her. I think getting her started w/ something on the easy side will really help her get used to the whole college class thing, though. Thanks again for sharing your experiences.
  8. I just ran across this link for a free science curriculum and was wondering if anyone here has used it? I would love to hear from anyone who has...:001_smile: http://www.jason.org/public/whatis/start.aspx
  9. What great suggestions. I am starting to look for science options for my ds for the next 2 years and you guys have given me quite a bit to look at. :001_smile:
  10. Thanks fo sharing this link! I am just now starting to research science options for next year. I would love to find something that my will be ds12 & dd10 (4th & 7th grades) can do together. We will definately be checking into this.:001_smile:
  11. Great! I am going to have to get dd to figure out how to get a pdf on my kindle so I can see if it will work for me. I'm really excited about being able to use my Kindle for our school.
  12. Oh great! I was beginning to think that Oklahoma didn't have a program like this since I couldn't find anything searching the net. So, (this next question is going to show how new/uneducated I am in this area...) we are researching this option for dd15 (10th grade right now). How do you know when/if you child is ready for college courses? What highschool courses had they completed previously that prepared them for college level work? I want to be sure my dd is ready so I don't set her up to fail (kwim?). She is very excited about the possibility of college courses, so what can we do over the rest of this year/summer to make sure she is ready? Thanks so much for any help/advice you can offer.
  13. Happy Birthday Natalie! :party:What a wonderful story. I pray for healing & comfort for the scared, alone teen mom. What a scary position to be in. But isn't it amazing how God works his miracles?
  14. I grew up in WA where we had the Running Start program (high school juniors & seniors could take up to 15 credit hours of college courses at the community college for free). Is there such a thing or something similar in Oklahoma?
  15. The neighbor kids all got new nerf guns this year, so they (my kids & the neighbors) were all out in the yard having nerf wars. When it got too cold, they ended up in our loft continuing the war. I am definately gonig to keep nerf guns in mind for next year!
  16. I made dd5 a diaper bag set w/flannel diapers & wipes for her doll. For ds2 I made a flannel car mat for him to dirve his cars on. I saw both of these ideas on a "frugal Christmas ideas" thread. I get so many great ideas from all of you!
  17. I grew up in WA, dh in OK. We met on the east coast, got married & traveled around the country for the first 8 years of our marriage. We have now been living in OK for the last 7 years (but not where dh grew up), but I really don't have any connection to a geographical location. At first, WA was my home (even several years into my marriage I felt so), but after visiting "home" over the years, I have come to realize that it no longer feels like home. To me, home is where my family (dh & our kids) is!
  18. Ooo, I hadn't thought about that. I hate having to sit at the computer to check dc's math work. Having the MM answer key on my kindle would save me a lot of time & ink! My dd just told me that your can put PDF files on a kindle (I'm so uneducated :blushing:). Thanks so much for sharing. Now, if only I could print student pages from it, life would be closer to perfect!
  19. I just got a Kindle (not the fire, the original Amazon Kindle) and am trying to figure out what I can put on it. Are there Peace Hill Press books available for the Kindle? We use STOW, WWE, FLL & will be using ALL & WWS soon. I think I would like to put the teacher books for these on the Kindle instead of having paper copies if they are available(am I crazy?). How do you use a Kindle when it comes to school?
  20. It's completely normal here! I think it comes with the territory! :tongue_smilie:
  21. If it was at all possible, I would have ordered from PHP. I know that supporting them is always better, but this time it just came down to $$ (either buy from Amazon or not at all). We have a very tight budget, and this was not a scheduled purchase (I barely squeezed enough $$ together). So, I had to put my dc's education first this time. I hope I didn't offend anyone...if I did, it was not intended.
  22. I thought I'd have all my prep work done by now. Things are staying very simple here. No guests, just us, a few presents, a few cookies & a lot of relaxation. However, dd5 came home 2 weeks ago from Awana w/ a flu bug! So, it has been circulating through everyone since then (all but oldest dd have been sick!). Dd14 & I were sick yesterday, so I didn't get anything done and I am still sitting here in my jammies moving very slowly. Hopefully my head will stop swimming enough to take a shower soon. So, no your're not the only one being lazy today.:tongue_smilie:
  23. I made cookie plates for our neighbors a couple years ago (festive paper plates). I think I made 4 or 5 different kinds of cookies & a couple different candies. 3 or 4 of each cookie & candy filled the plate beautifully.
  24. I just got an email from Amazon that said Writing With Skill (both books) & The Creative Writer should arrive between Dec. 30 & Jan. 4th (much better than the earlier date of February 6-10!). I'm so excited! I can't wait to get them!
